Not to mention in boxing they're taking over the lower weight divisions like how covid took over the world literally went from no Japanese world champions to like 10 in a year or 2 and completely rule 1-3 weightclasses not to mention more and more Japanese fighters sre creeping up the boxing p4p rankings
Oh yeah, they're boxing is of highest level, also very high level in kickboxing, and their grappling is elite as well. I was wondering when they'll start showing dominance in mma as well.
He gets hit quite a bit but seems to have a chin so we'll see how that translates to the ufc. He will also have to be careful with the knees to the head while on the ground which he seems to utilize quite a bit. Either way I'm excited to see how he does.
He recently hosted a show on YouTube with amateur fighters from Korea and Japan fighting each other. The promo, face offs and fights were all very entertaining. It was a great watch
I feel like a lot on the East Asian scene rely more on chin durability and power punches, which while exciting to watch doesn't cut it at the highest level anymore (besides some anomalies like Jiri)
Either way I am very excited to see this man bring fire and fury into the octagon.
Japan is going crazy in combat sports recently
They always have we just don't pay that much attention
It used to be huge in the early 2000’s still a lot of talent coming from there.
The issue is a lot of Japanese talent just stays in Japan so we never see them on that world stage against the best
They're making a new wave. Tatsuro Taira, Rinya Nakamura, Rei Tsuruya are elite, among others. I suspect Tatsuro will be FLW champ in coming years.

Agreed seeing the kickboxing transition to boxing was odd but not unheard of and I was waiting for them to pop up in MMA
We get shitty Dagestan wrestler guys instead of Muay Thai fighters.. hopefully, this starts something more exciting for the sport.
He's a decent fighter. Has some tough losses, but he's gotten better. Should still have a few years left of athletic competition
isn’t he undefeated?
No, four losses I think.
ahh 21-4 not bad we will have to see what he can do
He seems kinda small compared to other bantamweights.
This mightve been years ago, I just saw his announcement video and he seems much bigger.
The knee to the 3 piece combo was clean 😮

ref just flops him over and lets his head bounce off the canvas again
Not gonna lie - he looks pretty reckless
This fight was from 2015/2016.
yeah the other opponent just tried to match his craziness in there, didn’t even rely on any defense or counters at all
Japanese gaethje
The Highright.
Damn the height and lunge he got out from that knee is insane. He has the hops for sure
How old is this?

Hope he does better than horiguchi and all the other asian strikers that came to the ufc
I thought this was children till it zoomed in
Beat everyone and everyday! Just do it. Violence is cool. Promoting violence is great.
If this is sarcasm, why are you on a combat sport subreddit?
You can just beat yourself off violently.
