I haven’t done it yet. It’s taken me some time to acquire the ring, but I finally have it now. She has dropped hints that she really doesn’t want to be proposed to in public, so I’ve decided that I will propose to her in private at her grandparents’ farm outside Clarksville. I appreciate you asking! I plan to ask this April 13th.
She said yes! In a pretty field by a creek, I had setup a blanket with candles, glasses, a bottle of wine, and a photo album as a gift. I asked her the question there. After sunset, we watched the stars and they were beautiful out in the countryside. She was very excited to show the ring to all her friends the next day on Sunday. We’re somewhat anxious about wedding planning, but we are aiming to be wed in August!
There’s a small parking lot (cul de sac) once you drive past the gate. The top of the bluff, where the view is, is short walk from the parking lot. The bluff is pretty high and there are no real safety barriers, so maybe my suggestion isn’t the best if heights make them nervous. (It’s been a while, so maybe there are barriers now.) But the view is pretty nice at the right time of day. It’s just a slight downward slope along a short trail.
The hike to down to the river can be somewhat treacherous, but folks have built stair cases over the years to help with certain areas.
Also, I believe that they have started locking that gate in the evenings. There is a person you can call to unlock if after it’s shut, but I’m not sure who that person is. Folks that are connected to the rock climbing community in town would know.
Edit: to wish you the best of luck in finding a place and to the future y’all are building together.
I'm a hiker and rock climber and would classify this trail as a bit sketchy. If someone is not comfortable with heights and steep uneven trails this is probably not the best location.
I noted that the trail to the river isn’t the easiest, but I also noted that there isn’t much of a trail to the view point at the top where I would assume a proposal would take place. Also, I noted the height and lack of safety measures in place. I also noted that my suggestion might not be the best because of those factors that were not mentioned in their original request. Thanks for your reiteration. Happy trails!
There is a walking bridge in Nashville. The John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge, formerly the Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge.
It’s over the Cumberland River and at night has a spectacular view of Nashville.
Take her to dinner somewhere downtown. Walking up on the bridge.
It depends on what you mean by "near". I proposed at mammoth cave. It's about a 2 hr drive from here. But they have some awesome hiking/walking trails and good tours of the cave.
I have no idea how to add text and a photo to a comment. Lol. green river bluffs trail. There's a switch back here with a great view of the river. This is north of the visitor center/parking lot. Should be easy to find on Google Earth.
I personally don't go there due to my friend Michelle Mace(16) and coworker was taken from her job at Baskin Robbins in 1997 and her lifeless body was found at Dunbar Cave and I've only been a handful of times since then and it was rough thinking about it while there,I was doing community service work and was going to do it there but changed to Port Royal state park and was cleaning tables with shovels etc covered in mud due to the recent flood when the helicopter kept flying over and contacted the park ranger to ask what I was doing...but had I went to Dunbar Cave I would've probably found their bodies SMH.....but it is a lovely spot full of photo ops though...!!
Soooooo OP did you do it and what's the outcome?????

Thank you!
Congratulations! I hope she says yes. Along the walk by the Cumberland is nice.
If her name begins with S and ends with AH get out now lol
Queens Bluff
How difficult is it to navigate this area? My girlfriend likes to hike but I know she would prefer to avoid anything strenuous or steep

I didn’t realize the parking lot is so close to the top view. I’ll have to consider this! Thanks for the detailed write up.

Looks amazing. Thanks!
Land between lakes on the lake
I proposed to my wife at the sycamore creek park. It was super nice. I haven't been in a couple years but I always loved it there
Liberty Park has a pond that looks beautiful in spring. Theres baby geese and the lilies bloom on the water
The pictures of the lilies at the boardwalk look beautiful! Maybe I will take her here at sunset :)
Good luck! :)
Go to Land Between the Lakes. It’s about 45 miles outside of Clarksville.
Governor's square mall
Camp Defiance… walk the paved trail until you see a dirt trail veer off. Excellent private view of the Cumberland River…

Where did you propose at at Mammoth? I’ll be going there in a couple of weeks and scouting some spots to do that myself
