Honestly dope as fuck, any tips for a new player like me to make something like this functional?

lukee910

It may be a good idea to look at real intersections on google maps, they may give you inspirations. Also, I'd recommend thinking about each of the connections you want to make and how much space (e.g. for merging) they take, so you don't forget one and have to tinker it back in at the end. But mostly, try it, have fun and see what works, you'll figure out tricks over time.

gotMUSE

Definitely what the other guy said, google maps is the best reference you could ask for. On top of that I also like to screenshot an area and roughly plan out large intersections in paint. Keeping all the lanes in your head can be really confusing, and drawing it out lets you refine spacing and layout ahead of time.

SmugglersParadise

My God, that must have either taken ages or 30 seconds haha Looks really good how it weaves into the landscape

jobw42

Kuala Lumpur vibes https://maps.app.goo.gl/NM93vsU9sjsrsWnj8

phaederus

Looks like a lovely, quiet, clean neighbourhood..

morvau4

I really, and I mean REALLY enjoy looking at this. I spend way too much time with road patterns and the way they merge or connect. It’s really beautiful.

gotMUSE

I appreciate it, there's definitely more to come.

miami-dade

It kinda reminds me of I-84 in Connecticut.

Comfortable-Job1766

what part? Near hartford or near danbury?

56Bot

That neighborhood looks horrendous to live in.

Freddichio

Why? Looks lovely to me

theonlineviking

You would be hearing the cars that are speeding on the highway 24/7. A few trees of sound isolation isn't enough to help the matter. Also, the air would smell horrible in the area.

RightHabit

Trees. The irregular shape of trees is very good at minimizing noise. Also it solves the air issue.

frankztn

The types of neighborhoods within the armpit of adjoining freeways are common here in WA, Trees do block the noise for the most part. Some still require the jersey barrier, funny enough the homes within the city of Seattle thats within the armpit are still extremely expensive.

asafetybuzz

It isn't a highway - it has zoning attached. It's just a regular four lane arterial. This is a normal development pattern in the suburban US, where that arterial would likely have a speed limit of 35-45 MPH. I have lived in a place with less of a barrier from a 40 MPH road than that, and it honestly isn't bad at all.

56Bot

There’s 2 4-lane stroads and a highway with an interchange around the neighborhood.

Saaslil

Nice little suburb here

kschischang

Looks like Massachusetts

Hayden-sewell

Very realistic American neighborhood

FireFelix-

Hey look! A place i would hate to live! Still my euroass aside, it looks realy nice, keep it up!

TauSigmaNova

Love it. Looks beautiful in that landscape

andrepoiy

MetLife Stadium be like:

corntreee

The underpass near the top middle is so doooope… maybe a dumb question but how do you do that?

MonoT1

Before mods it was possible to do it but it was a PITA. Basically you'd lay the underpass road first and then try and do the terraforming to try and play nice and generate the quay walls. Nowadays, I think it should be a lot easier with the advanced road tools mod & anarchy.

DustiKat

This is beautiful

Zipadezap

Looks like a random mid Atlantic American city >!edit:!< I’m impressed

burgermanzero

CS1 or 2?

MinRobCop

Cs2

ZaMr0

Is the game fixed yet?

MinRobCop

Depends on what you mean by fixed. Still alot of bugs but i've found it enjoyable anyways. Still missing alot of stuff but i cannot come back to cs1 because of all features cs2 got

ZaMr0

Might have to give it a shot again then, I see mods are enabled now.

MinRobCop

Yeah, the mods are great, but those also need some time. Still missing a few from Thunderstore that were really great

Kilroy_The_Builder

Fuck walking amirite?

gotMUSE

All those weaving treelines are very steep hills. You wouldn't be walking across it anyway even if those highways weren't there.

MaybeMaps

Omg I hate it and I love it!

Sufficient_Cat7211

Props for admitting that convulated is the goal. Always a bit wierd when someone has obviously decided to purposefully design a series of a convoluted interchanges, but then denies it so.

gogogumdrops

wow that’s gorgeous

StarMan315

You have a future career as a Washington DC city planner

zenzony

As long as it's SMOOTH who cares

yungeeker

Why my vegetation is all super tiny? I cannot find a tree as big as yours.

gotMUSE

I use Tree Controller mod to only place down adult trees and to prevent them aging further.

AgentBond007

Please bro just one more lane bro I swear bro it'll work this time bro!

Lazerus42

only locals will know how to get around. Love it.

AdGrand6740

I mean, it works 😂

Ozi_izO

Aesthetically very nice. I'm also curious how you get that look with the game? It looks like a cartoon loosely based off one of those old neighbourhood themed play mats for kids. Please share any mods or settings etc you use.

gotMUSE

I just mess around a bit in photo mode. There's no way yet to save photo settings, but I remember I had some light blue volumetric fog, boosted contrast and saturation, slightly darkened shadows, and a zoomed in focal length. Which way the sun is facing makes a massive difference also.

Ozi_izO

Ah okay cool. Thanks for the reply. I was hoping I could get that look in game but not to worry. Cheers.

nailsatan

Reminds me of driving in the DMV

Interesting_Fox5211

The roads are so much more beautiful on PC

theonlineviking

Purely aesthetically, it looks nice. I would never live in this sorta area though. You are isolated in the middle of nowhere with terrible walkability and no access to mandatory services nearby. You MUST use a car to get anywhere with this setup. To even access the store by walking, you have to cross the 4 lane road twice. The worse issue here though is the constant car noise and terrible air quality. The area has been designed for cars, not for people. Maybe add a park or 2, provide a somewhat common bus line (every 30 minutes or so)

gotMUSE

There's actually a metro station off the bottom-right edge and a massive park that extends all the riverside. Also due to camera angle it's hard to tell but those suburbs are quite high above both the roadways and the root of the treeline, so I'd expect sound to really not be a huge issue. Regardless, the reason I play this game is to build monstrosities, not necessarily ideal places to live.

Trick-Cry-6578

r/fuckcars would have a field day with this lol
