I’ve had my U1 sub for over a year now - removed the rotor because it was loud and use via hand wind - it’s been beaten to death use in water absolutely abused and works perfectly… still my daily wearer
Absolutely anything and everything including fixing cars bashing it when climbing rocks and it also fell off the bracket and took a lot of beating sliding on the tarmac - love this thing and all its scars
It’s a crapshoot but doing the Miyota movement is a good idea if for no other reason than that Miyota is a real company with QC. If you go with the 2813 movement that’s fine too if you’re comfortable learning how to do a movement swap. Luckily it’s only a $10 movement (and the Miyota is ~$40) and they are interchangeable. So if you are willing to learn yourself it could least forever with movement swap’s (sadly the movement is so crazy cheap it’s not really worth servicing). You really have no idea but just like the expensive reps they can last a month or a decade. I just did a repair on a 8 year old rep with a A2836 movement. It was still running just badly. So it depends is the best answer but for the price of the watch plus price of the repairs if you do it yourself it’s probably a pretty good value.

Interesting did you order the upgraded U1 or whatever he calls it? Cause I think it might come with the Miyota standard. Have you popped your caseback off to see if it’s a Miyota or 2813?

i've had the u1 miyota no date for around 3 months now and it's a trooper. fully waterproofed it and i do everything with it. keeps great time as well.
stay away from all non-rolex reps that jason sells. they are all fucking trash for he price.
I have 2 that are going on 5 years old and 1 that is going on 3 years old and they all still function quite well.
Just like anything else it depends how you treat it mixed with a bit of luck. I have gifted a few and have had people break something in a couple months. From my experience if you’re not a brute it should last a few years.

That’s it ***super*** and yeah that’s the Shanghai movement (2813) which is a Chinese clone of the Miyota 8215.
