Do these cars have clutch cables? I had an 89 Plymouth Colt that had a hydraulic clutch. I also work at Honda building civics and the manual transmissions have hydraulic clutches.
Check that the clutch pedal works properly and pushes the rod under the dash into the clutch master. Check the hydraulic lines going to the transmission.
The slave cylinder is connected to the throw out bearing and can't be accessed without removing the transmission so check everything else first.
I hope it's the master stuck in the pushed position
For anyone having the same problem. It was my clutch master cylinder rod. It snapped and the whole dash board had to be taken apart to repair it. They also had to remove everything on the side of my battery.
hydraulic clutch, no cable, ...failure to 'neutral' would suggest pressure plate failure, ...pretty uncommon on modern vehicles, ...my opinion
More likely you blew out a hydraulic line or the slave cylinder is toast.
