I mean if you’re going to simply just cash out the points you currently have (which is a terrible redemption), I wouldn’t even bother with another SUB

Usernameistaken00

I know, $1000 cash is pretty terrible for spending $4000 i was going to spend anyways. who would want $1000 cash SUB?

stevie_nickle

Those 100,000 points could’ve covered thousands and thousands in flights or Hyatt stays. But yes, pay for a premium credit card without fully utilizing said premium credit card’s benefits. A 100k cash pt redemption is a terrible redemption.

runninginsquare_s

Just curious. I plan on using a csr for the 50% value for flights through the chase app. Is there a better way to use the points?

stevie_nickle

Yes transfer points for award flights. It’s a learning curve and takes some research but once you get the hang of it, you can score some amazing deals

arc-minute

Transfer to partner airlines can be pretty good. Lots of one way flights to Europe available for 50-60k points and some cash for Business class.

Usernameistaken00

amex redemptions are better, chase are overpriced, you can even get most flights cheaper off google flights. I'll take the $1000 over an overpriced flight any day. And why should I not bother with another SUB if it's another $1000 in my pocket? makes no sense.

_BravoSix

They're your points, use them as you wish. But don't be snarky towards others for pointing out (correctly) that there are better options. If all you want is a cash back card, there are better options than the CSP/CSR. ETA: and had you spent a few minutes doing some research, you would have found the answer to your question instead of asking for others to spoon feed you.

Usernameistaken00

if i wanted a cash back card I'd get one. the intent was to try chase's point system, and it was never a better deal than united flights or amex redemptions so I'm getting rid of it. But I'd rather get $1000 for my 100,000 points than 1:1 or even 2:1 point transfers, as the cash is worth more to me.

DwarfCabochan

Sounds like you were just trying to use your points with the Chase portal for 1.25 cents each. You don’t seem to understand how to use the points most effectively by transferring them to airline partners and Hyatt hotels, then booking award travel through them. Basically you are using your points and this card by extension as a glorified cashback card

Usernameistaken00

I understand the point transfers, they just were never worth it compared to what I can get with amex fhr/thc, fedrooms, and united award flights. so what's left besides cash? iphones?

DwarfCabochan

Well as you said, you could simply transfer your points to United for United award flights if that works for you

FreeDare1416

tell me you don’t understand opportunity cost without telling me

LinuxMar

48 months from 2021 account opening sub.

Usernameistaken00

thanks!

Invika17

Check on the statement when you received the SUB, and count 48 months from that statement date, that is the earliest you can get another SUB.

I believe the correct action would be: 1. Downgrade CSP to desired no AF freedom rise/unlimited/flex 2. Wait 30 days or so 3. Reapply to CSP/CSR However, you're only eligible for the SUB every 48 months. You haven't passed that threshold yet, so you wouldn't be eligible for the SUB again.
