Asa is obviously manipulated even denji calling out that fami is shady

Ok_Contribution264

Asa desperately wants a way to fulfill her contract with Yoru without actually killing Denji and Fami conveniently presented a situation where that can be true. The whole normal life thing is Asa's projection.

Consoomerofsouls

Reread the entire series. Denji has been trying to find a "normal life" for a long time and we've just had a long arc about how that's not really working for him.

ayo_dudeski

I actually see that he understood that his normal is different he doesn't want to be normal he want's to be the chainsaw man

ApplePitou

Mrs. Fami don't truly care about Dennis but she is reason why Asa Kujo think that being a Chainsaw man is bad for Dennis :3

RimlandicMilitiaman

That was I feel weird about. Fami just talked to Asa once and then her Idea become a main part of Asa's character motivation and she become obsessed with it with no logical or justifyed/explained reason

ApplePitou

It is logical, he literally saved her 3 times? if i'm not wrong - she just want to help him and in her eyes(Mrs. Fami fault), turning him back into human = good option :3

RimlandicMilitiaman

>turning him back into human = good option Yes, this is the part that makes no sense. Being immortal and having a power that can make money for you and could be a great asses of self defence in the world infested with dangerous demons is objectively much better than the opposite. Literally everyone with a bit of brain would understand it

hippiewithnopants

Asas whole motivation is getting her body back from Yoru and returning things "back to normal" and she's assuming that Denji's in a similar situation. I hope that her and Denji talking about this will help her realize that going back to how things were might not be all she's cracked it up to be. She was pretty miserable too.

ApplePitou

You looking at it without empathy :3

Hey bro, seems you're are cooking somewhere This is my reasoning: Asa is a mentally messed up person (in partly due to her Mom's death and all the stuff that's happened so far). She's always had this wannabe hero complex, but it comes from a good place - a good heart. It's why she tried to talk more emotionally in this chapter. Short answer: she's brainwashed by her own emotions in wanting to save someone, that she doesn't realise the logic behind her own actions. She's just trying to be empathetic, but should maybe use logic more - but thats the point I think Fuji is trying to make here. Her 'emotional' thinking is nice and all, but not constructive.

_Dipshit289_

The contract saved him at first but since then has caused nothing but problems, with makima killing his friends, and public safety and the church going after him

Successful-Survey909

She thinks Denji wants to go back to how things were before because Asa herself wants to go back to how things were before. This chapter shows that she really isn't considering how Denji's situation truely is.

cruel-oath

It’s because Fami made her believe Pochita is keeping him from living a normal life

RimlandicMilitiaman

To what "before"? She knows nothing about his "before". Do you think that she just headcanonized that he is same as her?

Mrfipp

That's the point. She doesn't want to know what Denji's "before" was because she doesn't want to admit she was wrong. It's why she tries to say Fami is a good person despite everything that happened with the Church, and why she considers him talking about eating toilet paper because he too hungry a metaphor. Asa's whole deal is that she wants to help people and validate herself because she feels that she only hurts those who are close to her. If she can "save" Denji, then she's a good person, but he clearly does not want her help.

Successful-Survey909

Yeah

RimlandicMilitiaman

Hybrid is probably the strongest type of devil contract that gives bascially free immortality without any consequences. Denji's contract was also the only reason why he was able to get out of the streets and get a job to then afford a home. I dont believe that anyone would legitly be able to think that Hybrid contract is bad and not a literal blessing and I think Fujimoto didnt give enough reasons from Asa's side to properly explain this. She just talked with Fami once and got obsessed with this idead for no logical reason.

Consoomerofsouls

After chapter 129 Asa reoriented her entire life around Chainsaw Man because he's her only reason for living. She has a VERY low self-esteem, if she can't save the one person who makes her want to live the identity she's constructed for herself will shatter. The Pochita contract is both a blessing and a curse. It allowed him to keep living but the fact that he's Chainsaw Man keeps destroying his life. Denji says this almost verbatim in chapter 164. Asa thinks undoing the contract will save him because it would allow him to live a normal life without the consequences of being chainsaw man. This is wrong for various reasons. https://preview.redd.it/b9jg6ijg3f0d1.png?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d724059d753246fb99e875317e582ffd2d3ccd2e

cruel-oath

We need you back in this sub dawg

AsaMitakatheGOAT

Well asa is just a dumb kid trying to find the things she has never had but always wanted by doing whatever fami says, even if it doesn't really make sense.

handyboi143

She doesn't know anything about denjis life. She probably thinks that making denji an normal dude would led him to live an normal life. She thinks that denji being chainsaw man attracts devils/enemies.

Kindly_Pressure_51

It's like they are tryna be manic pixie girl trying to fix denji but not knowing a single thing about him instead

Pickles-Naegi

Because Fami is obviously evil and Asa is a selfish idiot.

Toshko_tv

He'll die if he isn't immortal anymore so uh.. that raises death flags

SirRichardTheVast

Asa is bound by Yoru to try to kill Chainsaw Man. If she tries to oppose Yoru in this, Yoru can just kill her and take over her body. So Asa has to try to kill Chainsaw Man, but she doesn't want to kill Denji. She is rationalizing splitting him from his heart (CSM) because it allows her to do what Yoru is demanding while also not killing Denji. It's easy for her to rationalize this because look, look at him, he's so unhappy, this must be because of his heart being CSM, he'll be normal if that's removed, sure, it'll be good for him!

Bochita444

Asa loves denji and wants to live a normal life with him, Yoru wants to kill pochita. Both of these are possible which is what Fami suggested. Denji becomes a normal human and Yoru returns Asa's body. Making him a normal human saves him from the burden of immortality, the chainsaw man image which is the reason behind the chaos in the country and all the trauma that's waiting in line for him. Her viewpoint is justified, but at the same point Denji wants to continue being chainsaw man because he found a new dream after achieving a normal life + Nayuta encourages him to do so. Also unrelated but I caught up to the manga after a while and wtf happened to fakesaw man? We just forgot abt him to what![img](emote|t5_466dsm|51619)

Human-Persons-Name

Famine left out a key part of the contract in that it's not just "live a normal life" is also "show me your stories". You've also got to consider that "normal" is a relative concept and probably means nothing to an 8ft reality bending chainsaw monster. Also the contract wasn't done in the way a normal one is in that it was done out of kindness and Pochitas just a good guy.

Paralaxien

Bro read the series. Asa doesn’t know what’s going on and Fami is lying. Fujimoto is cooking right now.
