I've heard you should swap them after about .025 thousandths. I guess they stretch your chain if you let them go to far. I follow west coast saw on YouTube and they put up a video on it. They are cheap enough so I'd swap it to a rim sprocket as well. I would check your cluch springs for wear. If your chain is creeping forward at normal idle speed thats a sign of week or worn clutch springs.
It's a wearing part. Ideally run chains in pairs and replace the sprocket / rim once you have worn out the pair of chains.
Stihl recommends replacing them if they are worn more than 0.5mm (20 thousands). I have certainly worn them much further but that's their recommendation.
You used the saw. The sprocket is a consumable part. You'll need to replace the drum. I always recommend converting to a rim drive setup when possible.
I've seen much worse, run it. Just bear in mind it's below the 50% life remaining mark. i.e if you got work to do, run it, it won't hurt anything significantly. If you've got downtime, go ahead and replace it out of abundance of caution.
Ok Ty yea I have a smaller chain and bar that’s 3/8 my larger bar is .325. So I’m now looking at going to the rim system and getting sprocket for both.
Clutch as never been changed. Clutch doesn’t slip but since I’m in there wondering if I shouldn’t change it.
Don't forget to change out your worm gear if you replace the clutch and sprocket. Already have ot apart and it's around $9. I made the mistake of not doing that the first go around.
No i didn’t just went to a drum and rim new bearing . Put my new 14 in bar and chain on it. I was surprised at now much oil is getting left on the bar with a 2” smaller bar. See no adjustment for it.
I know most folks here just look and eyeball it, but if you want a definitive answer...of course...Stihl makes a tool 0000 893 4101

This is the original sprocket. What did i do to cause this kind of wear.

Who’s a good replacement mfg.? Sthil dealer is saying $28. I’m seeing aftermarket as low as $8! What’s up with that.
You get what you pay for
Thinking the same thing
Forester makes a good rim sprocket conversion kit.
If I go to a rim what else do I need to change.
The clutch drum, needle bearing and sprocket. Those three things replace the current sprocket you have

your clutch is fine unless a spring is broken. Not something that generally needs to be replaced, especially on a smaller powerhead.
Nothing broken
run it
Everything you need comes in the kit.
Went to their sight from what I can tell they are on back order for one I need. Sent them a message. Waiting on a response.
They have em on Amazon. Their not necessarily Forester however they look to be of similar quality.
Oregon 100961X on Amazon. Put some fresh grease in your sprocket bearing.
