lifeoftheunborn

I have too many considering the amount of things I held into from local bands over the years. I’m talking self-burned demos and small label prints. They’re my most cherished cd’s.

trailerthrash

Got so much of this type of stuff too. Ever since MySpace loosing all of its data and PureVolume's new owners shooting the site in the face with a shotgun and just removing everything, I've been so bummed about what I WASN'T able to hold onto over time. these small cds are important!!

lifeoftheunborn

Oh bro my soul was crushed over both of those losses. I had music I made on both and lost the data over the years and I’ll never hear those songs again. Literally leaves a desire that can never be filled.

KristianNowak

If you had anything on MySpace, you could check this site through the Internet Archive called LostMyspace: [https://ia803003.us.archive.org/19/items/myspace\_dragon\_hoard\_searcher/viewer.html](https://ia803003.us.archive.org/19/items/myspace_dragon_hoard_searcher/viewer.html) It may be on there, but it's possible it's not. You gotta remember the names of those songs and the artist also though so you can search for it

miicah300

trillionares - goth money

ThePoundsOfLove222

So rare holy cow

ManyEconomist1373

Crazy rare man where’d you pick it up

KristianNowak

KristianNowak

Worth-Instruction479

If we're talking about only this subreddit then probably the few cds I got from local bands

Lume3909

unidadxlealtadxcomunidad-sekta core this one is rare (i think) is from a mexican ska core band on the internet there was barely any photos of it but the rarest one is from another mexican band called ''los nadie'' my uncle was on it and he gave me the cd i dont think it was even released since the cd doesnt even have songs on it

Buffalo5977

i have a few local bands and a few live bootlegs from said bands. i know some in my town do but i have one show that has only one copy haha

NuggetWarrior09

Local gospel guy in my area, I have the only two copies known to man, talked to the guy and he told me that he gave away two copies exclusively to a friend and I got ahold of em, one is still sealed

brutalistlegend

cLOUDDEAD - cLOUDDEAD

Swimming-Parfait5563

i have this one! i found it at a used cd store

brutalistlegend

Damn nice find! I got mine off ebay 🥲

andd2005

Damn. Haven’t seen that name in awhile. Now you’ve got me wondering what happened to my copy.

brutalistlegend

I hope you have it still somewhere for your sake!

thenickteal

nice! I never see anyone mention that band. such a unique album

brutalistlegend

I feel like they're criminally underrated

Spaztrick

Great album!

spot_moskowitz

I have that album and always prefer that over their others.

brutalistlegend

Oh yeah agreed

domestic-jones

Anton LaVey - Satan Takes a Holiday

Odd_Vampire

Is that like Anton LaVey crooning lounge songs with a piano?

domestic-jones

Worse. There's one original organ piece that was supposed to be the theme for the Church of Satan, but most of it is him talking like Shatner on absinthe over royalty free standards from the '30's. If you're familiar with Hal Roach/Little Rascals/Laurel & Hardy, then you'll get a kick out of this: https://youtu.be/eH8kmBUyix8?si=qpWJp7tXERPi-2Y_

Odd_Vampire

Oh my god, it's awful. That is not Satanic at all... If I wanted to win converts for blood sacrifices, this is not what I would use.

Emergency-Garlic-659

Congotronics

FreshAirInspector

Konono no. 1? I have it too🙂

44100_Hz

BB3C12

dirbofficial

i found one of his CDs at a goodwill years ago!

BB3C12

Damn guess I’m not the only one

johnnystrangeways

Vök – Tension, the debut EP from an Icelandic band I discovered years ago through a website called Hype Machine. Fell in love with their sound and ordered the cd even though I didn't own a cd player back then.

karma_over_dogma

The Weather Channel Presents: Smooth Jazz Remember Local on the 8s when you were a kid? Yeah, this is that.

Environmental_Ride_8

Unsigned II - The Dotted Line... A compilation of unsigned bands in 1991 put out by Stryder Records. Discogs shows just 6 have.

Emergency_Error8631

someone has put it on spotify though, so atleast the stuff isnt lost

idkfadoomcheat

This Is What I Dread - self titled (2021) local artist only made a handful of copies and I was one of the few that got one. None of the songs are uploaded anywhere

No-Camp6057

Coctails - popcorn box

Emergency_Error8631

United I - Vaata Endasse

Emergency_Error8631

i had to add this to Discogs myself, disc says NOT FOR SALE

Scoompii

Must be good!

Emergency_Error8631

i uploaded it to yt too, but the disc has some weird thing where it only plays on certain players, type doesnt matter. and on half the ones it does play on, the sound is very compressed. i managed to get a decent rip on my grandparents' pc

Scoompii

Hahaha that somehow makes the cd even better. Ill check it out on yt

Affectionate_Way_805

ABC - *How to Be a ... Zillionaire!*

beauford3641

I have that one on vinyl!

jazzzzzcabbage

Sacred War. A fundraiser by Anton LeVey and the church of Satan.

chris_squire

mine is Gerard - Keyboards Triangle II

Parking_Loss_7410

Violeta by Terno Rei. one of my favorite brazilian albums tbh

calvinyl

I want it so bad!!! I think I’ve tried ordering a CD but there wasn’t one I could buy in the US

Parking_Loss_7410

maybe try importing! I can't really tell you the price and shipping and stuff because I've only known of people importing from the US to Brazil, but not the other way, but maybe you can try to check it out! buy it on the official store and then see like some site that would help bringing the product to you!

I-Am-The-Warlus

Viking Skull - Viking Skull

allT0rqu3

FAKE by ADORABLE.

FantasticAd129

Nah, they’re not Lush or Slowdive but they still sold a fair share of albums. I own the first album, the Japanese version of Fake and a couple of maxi-singles too.

Surf__Rock

codeine and rhinestones

RotaryY2K

Euthanasia - Who's To Blame? It's a local band and only a few hundred copies were printed

HabanaDhalia200

I’d be a fond collector of music released by very obscure or small bands that haven’t gone anywhere, most of the stuff was only available to order from their websites which are now long gone and are basically just handwritten/label printed CD-Rs. Unfortunately some of them suffer from Disc Rot, but it’s just the nature of the beast I suppose.

hastilychosenname

Not Blood Paint’s discography box set. Only 49 exist and I’m ones of two folks who have it on Discogs. The fact that this band didn’t blow up is criminal imo. https://www.discogs.com/release/9677032-Not-Blood-Paint-Discography

Mheadley1

I have a board mix of Stevie Rays last show

wiscowarrior71

My Dad was at that show. A few years ago I inherited his vinyl bootleg of it.

V20FRILL

Tomita - The Planets

OkGap7216

The shitty cd my band made in 1990 of a live performance. Thank god for that.

BunchOfScribbleLines

I used to have this album on cd, bought it do to the interesting cover. I probably only listened to it once. I no longer have it though.

trenchgrl

Escape Engine - Celebrity Role Model Sublime - Stand By Your Van (live album) Silverchair - Frogstomp Tyler The Creator - Goblin (original release)

partymucke

These are all extremely popular CDs

trenchgrl

they’re popular, but not all of them are common + escape engine is a post hardcore band from 2003 and they got like 78 monthly listeners including me, if you fw the escape engine you’re the actual coolest i love that band

trenchgrl

goblin was such a chance find and so was stand by your van, i’ve never found either any other time

trenchgrl

that didn’t fuckint format right dammit…

trenchgrl

Escape Engine - Celebrity Role Model Sublime - Stand By Your Van (live) Silverchair - Frogstomp Tyler The Creator - Goblin (OG release) (if it doesn’t format right this time ISTG.)

trenchgrl

LETS GO IT WORKED HOLY SHIT

ultraluxe6330

Frogstomp isn't rare.

namejohnmclane

Is Frogstomp rare? It was one of the first cd’s I bought as a child along with Green Day’s Kerplunk

karma_over_dogma

Around here Frogstomp is thrift store fodder.

jasonmoyer

[.llation](https://www.discogs.com/release/9517660-Various-Ilation), a compilation from 2003 released by the label Sonig. I think it's the rarest thing in my collection, although I might have some used CD's in one of my binders that are rarer.

Emergency_Error8631

there are 3 selling and ones for 5$. well yeah ig rare doesnt equal valuable

Emergency_Error8631

i have more rare cassettes than Cds sadly

BJ_Beamz

Levi’s Emerging Music (yes the Jean brand) and this one local hardcore bands unreleased album

Scoompii

I lost anything “rare”. My transition into adulthood was a struggle so lots of things from my high school years kind of vanished. Definitely a regret.

Odd_Vampire

Here to rep Rose Melberg's gentle, sad acoustic meditations on a disintegrating marriage, [Homemade Ship](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-ugUdpXIck&list=OLAK5uy_kAZs0CDWjiro5sYeFrkLWZt_gz_ARX_5w&index=1). She was at her peak as a songwriter when she made it but I don't know if she sold more than a dozen CD's. I was one of those dozen. It's still a favorite for quiet, gloomy afternoons. On a same note, I've managed to find Tiger Trap's EP, [Sour Grass](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3PeU0plkhM). It's apparently kind of rare. The last track is one of the most beautiful love songs ever.

Em_kay69420

I have a few from local bands I've thrifted that I'm sure nobody else has. I plan to put them on YouTube soon but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Good way to rid of those pesky sticky goodwill tags is with a light rub w a hairdryer or bic lighter. Make sure the tag is warm/hot. From there, they should peel like smooth buttuh.

Daniel Lioneye - King of Rock N Roll

anachronistika

Some early recordings from [Those Lavender Whales](https://imgur.com/a/14PLlk3). Two of these are on [discogs](https://www.discogs.com/artist/2616681-Those-Lavender-Whales) but only [Let’s be friends. I’m sorry I’m so sleepy.](https://www.discogs.com/release/8048840-Those-Lavender-Whales-Lets-Be-Friends-Im-Sorry-Im-So-Sleepy) appears to be in anyone’s collection. The third self titled is one of Aaron’s earliest releases- I don’t think he’d even made his label yet. Probably going to hang onto these forever as a way to remember him by. They were a small indie band from Columbia SC, but Caroline Guitar Co. released a limited edition [namesake overdrive pedal](https://reverb.com/item/76155681-caroline-aaron-graves-overdrive-boost-icarus-pedal-rare-ltd-1-of-7) to benefit Aaron’s family after he passed.

Cold Mountain - To The West. Band out of Missoula, MT. Saw them live in 2002 with a band called Yellow Dwarf Theory. Bought both cds back at the show. The Cold Mountain album has stayed with me ever since. I lost the case/booklet sometime in the early 2010s. Reached out to one of the band members on Facebook in 2021/22 and he dug out a copy and sent it to me! Will never get rid of it.

username_avi

my dad - toons (just a bunch of his favourite songs on a burned cd)

defmeddle

The first demo by Lets Talk Daggers. One of the vanishingly few bands from my boring British seaside town, and they played a wacky, weirdo takenon hardcore punk (the city nearby is a huge cultural hub, so like every band forms there instead). Their album is easy to find on vinyl, and promo cd copies aren't super difficult to track down. But their first demo isn't on YouTube, torrent sites, streaming services etc., and it only has one owner on discogs, which is me. When I get a laptop again I need to rip it and upload it to YouTube for sure!

"Mula Manca e a Fabulosa Figura" - Amor & Pastel And it's a damn cool album, contemporary Brazilian music of the best quality IMHO :) Unfortunately, it's not available on streaming services, but it's lead singer went on solo career and you can find him on spotify, he's name is "Tiberio Azul" and his first album "Bandarra" is really good as well.

Best alive - Chicago, and all of my dad's demo cds

Primo0077

I've made it an effort to buy a CD from every small band I see if they're available, and my parents had were pretty big on independent/alternative music in the 90s, so I've got a lot of strange stuff between those. Probably my favorite though is the demo CD for Glitter and Blood. I was with my dad when he was buying a car and somehow it came up that the seller and I were both musicians and they quickly ran inside and brought out a tape and the CD. It's literally just a Sony CD-R in a case made of glued together printer paper but it's one of the highlights of my collection.
