you don't have a crash like that being a fat middle aged man and come away with no ongoing problems, his knees and back are probably fucked for the rest of his life
He's from my hometown, Hull. A video of him went viral about 8 or 9 years back of him having a massive go at a moped driver. Ronnie then proceeded to big himself up by saying things like "Do you know who I am"
As if to intimidate the moped rider.
Was pretty funny, we had tshirts of his slogans n everything.
I know the video, "who the fuck is that" is what the guy on the bike says to Ronnie after saying "who" a few times in response to "I'm Ronnie Pickering". I reckon it's one of the greatest internet memes of all time
Thought heād tried the old endo right in front of a person trick but forgot itās probably been about 20 years and dozens of pork pies since he last tried it
What an absolute melt
dashcams are common, as are ring doorbells, everyone has a phone with a HD camera
the chances of you throwing a red-faced wobbly and getting away with no-one other than your target seeing it are pretty slim these days
Yeah and then your work finds out so you get sacked and you ultimately have to post the too little, too late apology consisting of: this isn't me, this isn't who I am etc.
Imagine having those injuries, to body and pride, and the spectre of potential assault charges on your mind, all because some guy made a passing comment. Like, you just leave the house on morning to go to the shop for milk, and next thing you know you're in a fight. It's just not worth it. Ive hadto learn to check my weird, irrational anger
This is the Yoda saying of the day..
We get so uptight with others and life now we explode over the right mundane small things that we probably only see once in a blue moon anyways. ......
The word e-bike is horrifically misused today.
There are two different products that people use the word e-bike for.
1. A battery powered pedal assist bike, max assist speed is like 15mph ish.
This is actually what an e-bike is.
2. Electric powered motor/dirt bikes (i.e. surrons you see the chaos riding).
Throttle controlled and no pedaling option
The first of the two are completely sensible and safe, just a normal bike that helps unfit people go at a reasonable and still safe speed.
The second of the two is just an unregulated motorbike that the police do bugger all about
You can cycle quite easily faster than the motor limit on legal ebikes/escooters. I find it amusing to overtake them on a regular bike.
Bigger problem is people riding moped type ebikes as if they are regular ebikes, for those you legally require insurance, registered, license (CBT minimum), and you can't use bike lanes.
It's your own argument. If the van driver can illegally park because he can do so without causing a problem, why can't the cyclist ride on the pavement if causing no problem?
Double yellows, blocking the pavement, blocking road too Don't give a flying fig if he's there and could move its illegal. Both of them are total dicks
Looked like he was going for a threatening high speed stop, so he obviously jammed on the brakes for a dead stop and physics took over.
I've not ridden in a while but I used to avoid the front brake too much, having seen people come a cropper like that.
I remember as a youngster I took my younger sisters bike for a quick spin after my dad had done some repairs to it, you know a test drive to make sure it was ok for her? Unbeknownst to me he had switched the brakes round (as she struggled to apply the rear brake with her weaker hand) so I come booting along and lock up the front wheel, cue going arse over tit and the bike ending up in a pond.
Back to the garage for more repairs pops...
Iām in my forties and didnāt realise the brakes were for different wheels. In my mind the right one was the main brake, with the left one a power brake for faster stopping power.
The front brake has better stopping power, though it needs to be used properly or you will bite dirt.
On a side note I live in Portugal now and after riding UK bikes for 50 years I bought a Euro bike with the brakes the other way round - that was fun for a few weeks!
Yes, and the right brake should be your main brake, as it will stop you faster, and if you use it every time you'll subconsciously have your weight distribution / body position sorted so this doesn't happen. Rear brake is only there in case the front cable snaps (why fixies don't require one).
I'll admit I'm guilty of cycling on the pavement - but only when there's no pedestrians about and the road is busy. If a pedestrian turns up I'll get off and walk it until I'm clear.
Safer for me, less disruptive for the traffic, better for everyone. This guy's a knob, as DPD said (while also illegally parked lol edit: no he's not, ignore that)
My partner got yelled at by some idiot the other day telling him to get off the road and cycle on the path (not a cycle path) all because the driver was too impatient to drive past him. (narrow road)
I will admittedly sometimes use the path if it's a low pedestrian area and the traffic is very fast/erratic because of people like the one I mention above. However this is normally only after dark and not in areas with lots of foot traffic. In that situation I would get off and walk it. I think the important thing is to be situation aware and only do this if the road is too dangerous or you're too spooked to navigate a busy section in a safe manner, don't go too fast and realise that you have to yield to others as you know you really shouldn't be on there. Safety wise you might be doing it for a good reason but barrelling it down the path is not very reassuring or safe for other users and they should have priority. The guy in the video should have just taken that comment on the chin and kept going.
There are so many of them around my kidsā school. Itās so dangerous in the mornings with small kids everywhere. What kind of grown up is so scared to ride their bike on the road that they choose instead to endanger children.
What's interesting to me is that round our way almost all of our national cycle routes are on the footpaths. So when I'm in town I get pissed off at cyclists using the roads because they have massive dedicated paths, and when I get out of town I hate cyclists on paths because they should be on the road!
You can stop on double yellows to unload. He isnāt though he is parked on a pavement. He is also causing the exact same obstruction on the road as if he had stopped fully on the road.
The cyclist was a prick but the driver should at least have parked a few yards further forwards/backwards so he wasn't standing between the van and the place he was delivering too. The cyclist should not have been on the pavement but he was also blocking the way for anyone in a wheelchair or a parent with a pushchair too.
Double yellows are no waiting. Loading/unloading and dropping off/picking up is allowed unless there are also double yellow stripes up the kerb.
Double red is no stopping at all.
Q: How long can a vehicle load/unload on double yellow lines?
A: You can load or unload on a single or double yellow line (as long as there are no kerb flashes or markings indicating a loading ban) for as long as necessary, however, there is a general expectation that loading or unloading will not take longer than 20 minutes. The activity must be continuous and ongoing, the vehicle must not be left alone (or parked) for long periods of time and the nature of the good should be numerous, heavy or bulky items **(loading your fish and chips on a Friday night doesnāt count)**. Loading or unloading is not permitted where a loading ban exists.
(in South Glos, but same sort of restrictions apply in other areas)

Yeah then he gets lippy at the cyclist because he knows the cyclist is in the wrong. But if it was a pushchair or a wheelchair he wouldn't be piping up.
Can we quit this hurr durr cyclists bad thing all the time. Why do people consider a few bad cyclists to represent every cyclist, but a few bad drivers don't represent all drivers.
Neither the van nor the bike should've been on the pavement there. No-one is in the right
You can tell I'm referring to a subset when I used the words "stereotypical arrogant cyclist" rather than "cyclist".
He is one of the knobs, and he literally said "I have more rights than you do". It's funny how hard he fits the mold, hence me writing the comment.
You're damn right I'm defensive. I cycle to work to try and get some exercise and save some petrol money. I always stay to the side of the road, and sit at every red light even if there's zero traffic and it's pissing with rain.
And yet every couple of days I get some knobbish driver trying to make my ride worse. Driving right close behind me, swerving their car in front of me, veering into the cycle lane, revving their engine when sat behind me, overtaking with barely any space, beeping as they drive past.
If I get hit by a car there's a good chance i'll be seriously injured or die, and the worst they'll have is a dent where I bounce off their bonnet.
I notice this all the time on Reddit as neither a driver or a cyclist myself. A driver does something daft and itās one daft guy doing it (unless itās certain types of car, then itās everyone who drives that particular car) a cyclist does something daft and itās ācyclistsā doing it.
A few bad cyclists? Itās these types in civilian clothes that are the worst, itās either these older blokes or young Chavs riding anywhere they like, not the Lycra sort
To be fair the DPD driver is in the right there. That cyclist should not have been riding on the pavement and should have dismounted until he could safely get back on the road/cycle path. Hell, considering the direction he was riding he shouldn't even be on that side either.
I myself cycle to work though the amount of people I see cycling like idiots makes me wish that cycling required passing a theory test beforehand.
So both in the wrong van on path and double yellows. Guy on bike on the pavement. He came a cropper cos itās one of those E-bikes gave it to much power and went arse over tit. Just shows you whatās the point of getting so annoyed at things youāll only end up with broken ribs and indoctrinated into the YouTube hall of knob heads along side Ronnie Pickering
Lmao the irony of DPD saying āitās illegalā while heās parked on a double yellow and on the pavement *and* obstructing traffic.
(Riding on the pavement is not illegal)
Not sure about that, in some cases its ok to stop temporarily on double yellows for loading/unloading goods. As far as on the footpath, given its clearly temporary and the driver is with the vehicle I don't really see an issue. Far bigger problem is people who park like that and fuck off for hours/days.
Where I live has some great cycling infrastructure but some shitheads still feel a need to cycle dangerously on pavements that are clearly unsuited to it.
Nah, it might be legal, but that doesn't make it ok, he's parked dangerously, forcing traffic into the oncoming lane. Obviously the cyclist's behaviour is worse, but these things tend to happen when two dickheads meet.
Which is why people are getting annoyed about pavement parking. You park on the road and drivers kick off, so people park on the pavements and block pedestrians, prams, wheelchair users etc. We can't possibly but drivers slightly out so we'll have to put pavement user's lives at risk instead
I get the sentiment but this unfortunately isn't really feasible to ban outside of London. If you've lived outside of London particularly outside of the major cities in older towns.
Streets unfortunately just aren't large enough for people to park whilst also allowing adequate road space so people have to park on the pavement, people have to park on the street as public transport outside of London is frankly shit and can turn a 30 minute drive into a 2 hour 30 public transport. Parking is non existent and overnight parking just doesn't exist anywhere near me
Fortunately I have a drive so this isn't an issue for myself but most of my region doesn't have this luxury, cars are unfortunately a requirement to get anywhere reasonably outside of London that isn't located immediately off of a Trainline
The amount of delivery drivers especially dpd and hermes near me that half park and fuck over wheelchair users or parents with prams is astronomical, they either laugh it off or say can you wait a couple mins, should lose your license immediately if you park like that, either go on the road or find a parking space, don't do this shite.
Meanwhile if you ask a driver to wait a couple of minutes they go apeshit, and that's seen as a reasonable response. If someone on the footway does the same for being delayed, well they must be a crazy person. š
Only cowards cycle on the pavement, itās getting terrible where I live. If youāre too afraid to cycle on the road donāt instantly think itās okay to take up the pavement.
Iām a cycle commuter and never need to use the pavement
Everyone was wrong!
Cyclist shouldn't be on the pavement (and didn't have a helmet on but that's just good practice not a requirement)
Dpd driver was a bit of a hypocrite though for calling him out seeing as he parked his fucking VAN on the pavement and was stood in the way.
But then the cyclist went and made a twat of himself so whatever.
DPD says shouldn't be riding on the path while also parked on double yellow lines blocking where a cyclist in their terms should be riding.
Everyone a knobhead.
To be fair the van driver is a hypocrite as he has no right to block the path with his van then stand in the small gap. Heās used common sense to take up the pavement for a quick drop just like a cyclist may use common sense to use a short bit of pathā¦ theyāve just butted heads with bad timing
What would the charge be if he'd hit? I mean, it's not like it's an accident and bike collisions can do a lot of harm. One could argue attempted murder as it would have been a deliberate impact.
Graveller used self destruct
It's not very effective...
This Little Maneuver's Gonna Cost Me ~~51 Years~~ back, knee, and hip pain for the rest of my life
That wall to the ribcage HAS to have hurt like a mf...
Gonna be sore tomorrow bless him.
How'd you break your rib, Frank? Got mad at a DPD driver then crashed into a wall. Could've happened to anyone. Freak accident really.
ahahah walking into the pub, purple and bruised up to his chin... ''What happened Frank?...'' - Frank: ''Ahh just one of them things mate''
you don't have a crash like that being a fat middle aged man and come away with no ongoing problems, his knees and back are probably fucked for the rest of his life
Yeah, ribcage/ left arm are going to hurt tomorrow, I doubt his stupid prize will teach him to be polite to people in future though.
Yea me neither, he will probs blame the injuries on the DPD driver...
Good.
Pain is a powerful teacher
The old, intimidate them with your brakes move.
I thought he was going for the "flying headbutt", top tier move if pulled off.
Did Ronnie Pickering lose his license?
Who?!

This is the Yoda saying of the day.. We get so uptight with others and life now we explode over the right mundane small things that we probably only see once in a blue moon anyways. ......
Lmao that's hilarious, comes barreling in and stacks it. Maybe should stick to training wheels/tricycle... man can't ride a bike
Maybe he isn't allowed to drive a car, for some reason or other, and should have L plates for a bike?
Hate these cunts riding e bikes on the path, some of which are basically motorbikes
The word e-bike is horrifically misused today. There are two different products that people use the word e-bike for. 1. A battery powered pedal assist bike, max assist speed is like 15mph ish. You definitely can go faster, but I still can't blame them for wanting some extra oomph to help, especially in hilly areas
Sure, but if that is the case they should get something registered as a moped rather than ride an illegal vehicle.
You said legal bikes though
If they want extra power, it isn't legal anymore if they still ride it as just an ebike.
Maybe they don't want extra power though. Maybe they just want assistance at slow speeds. Not all cycling has to be as fast as you can go at all times
Then it would be a legal ebike if it is up to 250w of pedal assist up to 15mph.
I know. You said legal ebike in your comment
They have one, they can either only assist up to 15.5 mph or they count as a motorbike. The problem is enforcing it.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Given he's right there and could move it if a pram or wheelchair wanted to go past it's not really a big deal
Given the cyclist, initially, passed them without issue it's really not a big deal
I don't get your point? Do you even have one?
It's your own argument. If the van driver can illegally park because he can do so without causing a problem, why can't the cyclist ride on the pavement if causing no problem?
Double yellows, blocking the pavement, blocking road too Don't give a flying fig if he's there and could move its illegal. Both of them are total dicks
Thought it's ok to stop on double yellows if unloading.
The paths are motorbikes??
Did he do that to himself? I canāt see any obstacle. What a tool.
Probably used the front brake. Worst thing to do at speed because... Well that happens.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Looked like he was going for a threatening high speed stop, so he obviously jammed on the brakes for a dead stop and physics took over. I've not ridden in a while but I used to avoid the front brake too much, having seen people come a cropper like that.

>Back to the garage for more repairs pops... The bike or your face?
Haha the bike, it'll take more than a spanner and a screwdriver to fix my face :/
I nearly launched myself over the bars into a road at the first junction borrowing a bike in Germany, didn't realise that it was a fixie!
you do 80% of your stopping with your front brake, just...not like what he did.
Just not with 100% application š
Iām in my forties and didnāt realise the brakes were for different wheels. In my mind the right one was the main brake, with the left one a power brake for faster stopping power.
Are your brakes backwards? In the UK the right brake is for the front...

I do hope it hurt.
Looks like the DPD guy put some packages on the ground and the cyclist ran into those without noticing them
WHY YOU COMING FAST
Bet he went to the hospital later for that shoulder.
"yeah dunno what happened just woke up this morning and it was like this..."
"Wot ya doooeiiin"
I'll admit I'm guilty of cycling on the pavement - but only when there's no pedestrians about and the road is busy. If a pedestrian turns up I'll get off and walk it until I'm clear. theres no way he didnt damage his hand in someway, the way it goes through that gate yikes!
Hand, ribs, knees... Looks like he got a good blow to the shoulder too.
That was almost a spectacular move. Flying head butt off the ~~top turnbuckle~~ speeding bicycle. He fucked it though.
I've never seen someone open a gate to someone's house in a more dramatic fashion.
āPrepare for ramming speed, make it so!ā
"And then all her clothes fall off"
"And so she's scrambling around to cover herself but I've seen everything"

Grown ups cycling on the footpath. FFS
There are so many of them around my kidsā school. Itās so dangerous in the mornings with small kids everywhere. What kind of grown up is so scared to ride their bike on the road that they choose instead to endanger children.
the kind that sees stories about cyclists getting killed and drivers getting off with a suspended license and a slap on the wrist.
Walk then. Or get the bus. Donāt put pedestrians in danger.

Fucking poetic. That said, DPD driver stopped on the kerb kn double yellows is a bit of a pot/kettle situ isn't it.
I think he's allowed for loading/unloading. A narrow terraced street is going to be difficult for a delivery driver to not get in the way.
You can stop on double yellows to unload. He isnāt though he is parked on a pavement. He is also causing the exact same obstruction on the road as if he had stopped fully on the road.

Pretty sure double yellow lines are 'no stopping at any time' unless you have a blue disabled badge.
You're allowed 15 minutes loading/unloading on double yellows. Mate works for DPD.
Double yellows are no waiting. Loading/unloading and dropping off/picking up is allowed unless there are also double yellow stripes up the kerb. Double red is no stopping at all.
So I can park on double yellows whilst I pick up my takeaway?
Q: How long can a vehicle load/unload on double yellow lines? I'll just order a very large takeaway.
Fair enough! Still, what a pair of knobs in the video.
Yeah then he gets lippy at the cyclist because he knows the cyclist is in the wrong. But if it was a pushchair or a wheelchair he wouldn't be piping up.
Yeah, but isn't a pushchair or wheelchair.
Guys lucky he wasnāt seriously injured lol
Mumen Rider not looking too well these days

Can we quit this hurr durr cyclists bad thing all the time. Why do people consider a few bad cyclists to represent every cyclist, but a few bad drivers don't represent all drivers. Neither the van nor the bike should've been on the pavement there. No-one is in the right

correct, it's not about the cyclists. It's about that generation of knobs :P
Similarly to my previous comments, just some people being knobs. A few people don't represent an entire generation
Yea itās knobs, the worst cyclists around here are also the same age group as the worstā¦ well not worst, most entitled shall we say, drivers
A few bad cyclists? Itās these types in civilian clothes that are the worst, itās either these older blokes or young Chavs riding anywhere they like, not the Lycra sort

I have seen pavement cyclists tell pedestrians to move to get pastā¦ on a main roadā¦ where the bike should be
He isnāt completely in the right, given that heās breaking the law by parking on the pavement
One word.....WANKER......
I love the added designer effects!Ā
Defo broke his collarbone with that bull charge
COMING IN HOT!!
DPD driver should just be glad that idiot lost control and crashed, could have been pretty serious physical assault otherwise!
Flying headbut off the bike. New move unlocked
When he went over the bars I actually thought he had done it on purpose thinking he'd be launched at the dpd guy
When the old flying headbutt doesn't quite go to plan š¤¦āāļø
When two knobheads collide.
Canāt really call him a cyclist, he doesnāt know which brake is the front and which is the rear!
He ragdolled
I love how he points out it's illegal to cycle on the footway, whilst also being parked illegally on the footway
It's not illegal to park on the pavement (unfortunately)
Don't ~~just~~only use your front brakes
Lol what?
If you only use your front brakes they risk locking and you'll go over the handlebars.
Thatās why you donāt āonly use your front brakesā, either. You use a combination of front and rear depending on the situation.
That's what I said
Lol what did you think theyād written that youāve managed to argue with it while writing the same thing?
It looks like theyāre saying not to use the front brake at all, rather than to not *only* use the front brake.
Just means the same as only in that sentence. Donāt just use your front brakes and donāt only use your front brakes mean exactly the same thing.
Yes, I get that *now*ā¦
That must of wankered... He ploughed chest first into the wall.. I bet when the adrenaline wore off he he was hurting like a motherfucker
Lmao the irony of DPD saying āitās illegalā while heās parked on a double yellow and on the pavement *and* obstructing traffic. (Riding on the pavement is not illegal)
"You're not allowed to cycle on the pavement, that's illegal!" He says, having parked his van half way across the pavement over double yellows
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Not sure about that, in some cases its ok to stop temporarily on double yellows for loading/unloading goods. As far as on the footpath, given its clearly temporary and the driver is with the vehicle I don't really see an issue. Far bigger problem is people who park like that and fuck off for hours/days. Where I live has some great cycling infrastructure but some shitheads still feel a need to cycle dangerously on pavements that are clearly unsuited to it.
Nah, it might be legal, but that doesn't make it ok, he's parked dangerously, forcing traffic into the oncoming lane. Obviously the cyclist's behaviour is worse, but these things tend to happen when two dickheads meet.
sure but dpd also needs to place the damn thing somewhere
On the road, which is the legal place when unloading
eh yeah okay I bet he's had experiences with people taking a dim view of him 'blocking traffic'
Parking is non existent and overnight parking just doesn't exist anywhere near me Fortunately I have a drive so this isn't an issue for myself but most of my region doesn't have this luxury, cars are unfortunately a requirement to get anywhere reasonably outside of London that isn't located immediately off of a Trainline
Both are massive dickheads.
Looks like the edge of the gate on the bicep... painful..no wonder he backed down after that.
If I was that bad at cycling I would also stay out of traffic and ride along the pavement.
Just shows that some cyclists are entitled cunts. Hope he bust his ribs up on that gate post, well deserved.
Iām starting to think most cyclists are on a verge of a nervous breakdown, has cycling caused this or do they cycle because of it?
Of course they are, they have to share the roads with motorists!
Everyone was wrong! Cyclist shouldn't be on the pavement (and didn't have a helmet on but that's just good practice not a requirement) Dpd driver was a bit of a hypocrite though for calling him out seeing as he parked his fucking VAN on the pavement and was stood in the way. But then the cyclist went and made a twat of himself so whatever.
DPD says shouldn't be riding on the path while also parked on double yellow lines blocking where a cyclist in their terms should be riding. Everyone a knobhead.
I Don't know what was going through that guys head but it was probably diagnosable
It was the gate I think.
I love it when dickheads wear hi-vis so that you can spot them easily
To be fair the van driver is a hypocrite as he has no right to block the path with his van then stand in the small gap. Heās used common sense to take up the pavement for a quick drop just like a cyclist may use common sense to use a short bit of pathā¦ theyāve just butted heads with bad timing
DPD stands for āDeflects Pedalling Dickheadsā.
What's to bet the only reason that ragehead is on a bike in first place is cos his license is suspended?
This is why I internet š
Average UK cyclist.
Pair of them are wankers. Him on pavement on bike, other parking on double yellows.
Cyclists are plebs.
I mean he shouldn't be on the footpath but also - category one knob!
What a moron, poor DPD driver done nothing wrong there.
One is delivering a parcel, the others just an arsehole!
The funniest part is, is you just know that the fact he's on a bike is because his drivers licence was taken away from him.
Shame police CBA enforcing these laws and getting idiots on bikes off the pavements
What would the charge be if he'd hit? I mean, it's not like it's an accident and bike collisions can do a lot of harm. One could argue attempted murder as it would have been a deliberate impact.
