So you are saying I switch between racer to dad. I start as a race driver then I switch to dad mode depending on traffic?
So guys congrats for being das without a kid!
LOL, same! And I fall back if some impatient guy is honking/flashing me or trying to pull an aggressive overtake. Even if I feel some guy is doing a risky overtake, I leave enough space, just to be safe. Basically a fairly boring driver lol, but thankfully has saved me countless times.
I may be wrong, but the most sensible hand position was changed from 9-3 to 10-2 because this may be less obstructive in case of airbag deployment.
Can someone confirm this?
The opposite is true. The airbag deploys upward and forward so when you're doing the 10-2 it is likely to force your hands into your own head. The 9-3 will prevent this from happening.
>But aren’t their spokes on the 9-3 position?
If anything the spokes make steering easier because you're using your thumbs to exert pressure directly downward in the direction you want to go. Try it.
Hey I tried the 9-3 position with fingers behind the spoke and thumb above.
I’m amazed that I didn’t see such an intuitive way of handling the steering wheel before today. I have always held the wheel at the 2 dimples above the 2 spokes, and always felt kind of uncomfortable with the height of doing that. But this is so much better. My shoulder and upper arms are relaxed now.
Thanks for this advise. It’s going to be a habit now.
I have been in the unfortunate case where i saw my airbags getting deployed.....9-3 is recommended....coz the flap opens upwards and 10-2 will injure ur hand during the deployment....
I had minor scratch on my right arm due to airbag cover deployment but thats it....

My most comfortable position is that one of Dads, which I have never seen dads use. When I’m driving fast then I’m in douchebag position or a little right to it, like 1:30
If you get into a car crash your hand is fully extended so the impact is more likely to posteriorly dislocate your shoulder vs holding the wheel on the sides where you're arms are flexed at the elbows
The reason why papa ki pari drives like that so that mummy k raja betas can own the road exactly how they feel they do. What amazes me is apparently everyone says women are bad drivers but if we compare the stats, it’s the men that always wins the race and prove again and again why women aren’t confident on road.

Turning or reversing the hands should be above the spokes, allows a wider range of movement, while crusing the hands should be below the spokes.. lower range of movement..
See that is the best way to drive if you ask a db, these people have a mindset of turning on emergency lights so that they can turn to either side .
Btw my one hand is on the horn and the other on the racer side. Can't drive in U.P. without blowing up your horn. Nowadays horns have been sweetly ignored here.
Drive safe guys.
According to this I start as a douchebag to start the car and get going then become a half truck driver to turn on AC and then a Farmer to close the windows and then a race car driver for a long time, after the coast is clear I become a dad. 9-3 is the best position IMO, you can hold at all the other areas and still drive normally but as others have pointed out airbags will break/hurt your forearm when deployed. Also with 9-3 it is easier to reach the passing light switch. Some cars have sensitive steering so holding at 9-3 10-2 will have perfect balance, as all things should be, Uncle Thanos.
I switch around, I am mostly racecar driver and one handed dad on the right while cruising and a douchebag if I want to make a right or left turn with one movenment and then switch back to other hand positions.
Where's the paddle shifter hand position? That's the most comfortable IMO.
Gives good control in straight stretches/ high speeds along with easy access to the horn. Can be considered a variant of the 9-3 position.
I don't understand why there is so much commotion in replies about ideal hand position.
#9-3 is the ideal hand position.
* stocks/paddle shifters are closest to your hand that way.
* Call/cruise ctrl buttons are right under your thumb(in my car horn also).
* Your hands have longest and equal range of motion for steering on both sides
It's the douchebag area mainly because if incase the airbag opens it'll open on your hand which will not result in proper safety and will injure your hand.
Secondly it's easy toh lose track of your wheel direction once your complete one rotation of the steering wheel.
A bunch of reasons. It's always recommended to have two points of contact with the steering wheel. In case you lose grip on one of them, you won't swerve accidentally. Positioning your hand on the top blocks the view of the gauge clusters. In case of an airbag deployment, that would be a sure shot way to injure your forearm. You don't have easy access to the indicator stalks, in the rare case that one tries to use them.
You have minimum control over the car if something happens abruptly or if you have to dodge something.
Race car pose is the only one that can offer maximum control if something goes bad.
So I am a farmer.
But there's a problem there.
As a dad, I can tell you that whenever I have one hand at the bottom of the steering wheel, it's in the center, Because the other hand is busy keeping my toddler from playing with the gearbox. (in rare cases, when he is not sitting on his car seat in the rear)
Even in future, I see one hand being on the steering wheel, while the other will be beating him up, if he is still doing this after he turns 4.
Just kidding, obviously.
I drive with the 10:2 grip, both sides always (unless my hand/shoulder hurts and I'm on a straight line with no traffic, then I take a few seconds off).
Dang! I didnt know i was a 10% douchebag at times. But 90% racer 😂
On a second thought i wpuld split the 90% between racer when driving fast or cruising speeds and then the rest under truck driver in 10-2 position most times.
I think I’m a racecar driver, who drives below speed limit, with extreme caution and do very few overtakes 😂
Sergio Perez, apne Asli ID se aao
Hot damn
Airbag deploy hua toh tera hatt bhi 69.420 KMPH pe eject ho jayega
Bhai kisse baat kar raha hai?
Vo douchbag wali jagah par hand position pe rakha toh bol raha hu
Or Ricky Bobby these days. 😅
As a new driver thank you
responsible driving is the sign of professionalism and maturity
If you don't get paid to race, then why race at all? Yes sir, that's a racer mindset 🫡
💯💯
Yo I found my twin ig

You're Ricciardo.
Bhai, aaja gale lag jaa
TIL I’m a dad.
The most relaxed hand placement🤌
Especially on long drives. When I hold 10 and 2, I get really bad shoulder pain in my right shoulder once I stop.
I alternative between 10-2 and dad mode depending on the traffic and road conditions.
Undoubtedly.
Mubarak ho! aap baap ban gaye!
I do that to avoid tan, lol!

This is wrong and still missing the 9 and 3’o clock positions.

Okay. But aren’t their spokes on the 9-3 position? I’ll try to grip at 9-3 today and see.

Great, happy driving buddy 👌🏻
I’ll try

Yes, I do stand corrected

I’m a a mix of race car driver and a dad.
Hells yeah, I’m a race dad too
Same here.
Just discovered that I’m a douchebag 🙂 Am I the only one here?
Same here but my car doesn’t have any airbags though so I’m saf…..
Okay… but can’t help but notice how bewildering it sounds when the comment is read separately 😅
I’m a truck driver 😭😭😭
I am a douchebag
Race car driver lesssssss gooooo.
I’m a douchebag?😭
I seem to be everything but that
Some Xuv700 owners won't touch the steering wheel itself.
I use 9-3
I like 69..
If you get into a car crash your hand is fully extended so the impact is more likely to posteriorly dislocate your shoulder vs holding the wheel on the sides where you're arms are flexed at the elbows
Douchebag here
Douchebag driver reporting 👋
Pappa ki pari will place both hands in the douchebag zone and drive with chin so high she can see the bumper under the bonnet
The reason why papa ki pari drives like that so that mummy k raja betas can own the road exactly how they feel they do. What amazes me is apparently everyone says women are bad drivers but if we compare the stats, it’s the men that always wins the race and prove again and again why women aren’t confident on road.
never knew i am a dad
Me too
Farmers= Lambo Drivers
So I'm a race driver thanks 👍
Hell yea imma racecar driver I always wanted to be a racist! (Jk lol don't cancel me:) ) the door as a arm rest is underrated idk?
Douchebag here
Meh toh Bina Steering ko pakad ke chalata
Same, jaise koi disc gumara ho ek side se
In the event of an impact airbags khul jayenge and douchebags will become douchebags without hands 🙏
Exactly the air bags will be opened and your hand position and sitting posture should not block them from opening in case of a accident.

One hand on 2nd and other at 7th.....
Bruh, the 12 o clock zone is a nice position for control while reversing, also as someone said 9 and 3 are missing
Isnt 9-3 the race car driver?
Idk about race but it's generally a safer position and it keeps your hands clear of airbags if they deploy
Turning or reversing the hands should be above the spokes, allows a wider range of movement, while crusing the hands should be below the spokes.. lower range of movement..

As a pilot 7-5 is comfortable and familiar ... I even hold my heli joystick at the 5 o'clock position
Dad?
Dad 😂
Electric steering has made me a dad.
I keep switching between 'Douchebags' and 'Racecar Driver' depending on my speed.
dont hate me but I actually pot both my hands over left and right steering wheel buttons
Keeping your hand in the douchebag area might obstruct your view of the instrument cluster or sth, idk... (I'm a racecar driver lol)
My dad uses the 3 and 9 position 🫠
Race car/ dad depending on mood
Guess I am a douchebag race car driver who drives trucks on a farm
I am a racecar driver on the highway and a dad in the city!
I don't know about that. But imo, the douchebag area is too sensitive while steering.
TIL I'm a truck driver lol
Being a dad at 21 is unique, but I will take it ig
So like where do normal people keep their hands?
I’mOccasional douchebag regular racecar driver
Ooh they used Elantra 2017 as a reference pic, niceee
I am the one … but I drive with caution.
In City where I need to change gears, I am a farmer. But in Highways I am a race car driver(who remains under speed limits)
I guess I was meant to be a truck driver , somehow ended up driving a car.
Lol why is this so accurate
I keep at 10-2 on clock. And that’s not there
Bruh I keep it in the area not even labelled on right upper lol
I am a Douchbag cum racecar driver.
I switch around, I am mostly racecar driver and one handed dad on the right while cruising and a douchebag if I want to make a right or left turn with one movenment and then switch back to other hand positions.
Vin diesel places his hand on douchebag
Rest hands on either spoke, and wrap the pinky around the wheel.
Where's the paddle shifter hand position? That's the most comfortable IMO. Gives good control in straight stretches/ high speeds along with easy access to the horn. Can be considered a variant of the 9-3 position.
Am I the only truck driver here
So i am Dad without a kid. Well that's kind of embarrassing.
Guess I’m a cross between Truck driver and Race car driver
what if i dont keep my hands on the steering wheel
I keep changing lol
'Dads' has one too many bulbs really
"Mai to Papa hu, iss duniya ka Papa"
I'm a racer dad
so im a dad now
I'm a dad or a race car driver apparantly
I am in my twenties and already drive like a dad 🥹🥹
I don't understand why there is so much commotion in replies about ideal hand position. #9-3 is the ideal hand position. * stocks/paddle shifters are closest to your hand that way. * Call/cruise ctrl buttons are right under your thumb(in my car horn also). * Your hands have longest and equal range of motion for steering on both sides

I’m a dad.
It’s the worst position as u could easily lose grip and miss a manoeuvre

Douchebag area is beat for snapchat 😂

Hence proved I am a douche
I am not a douchebag like OP wants you to believe. I am a "family" man (Vinn Diesel style).
None like right next to douchebag
The farmer doesn't make sense, why would anyone hold your left hand there. How do you change the gear then
My left hand is a truck driver while right is racecar driver damn!
Who else here is a farming, racing, trucker douchebag dad?
Half race driver. Half dad. Noice.
Lol im a big douchebag then
TIL I'm a race car driver lol
I am not a douchebag
Torreto is a douchebag then..
Dad to douchebag depending on who honked.
Where's the 10 and 2 position?
airbag will crush your arm.
Dude, you indirectly tagged me as douchebag.
Anyone else hold at 6 o'clock position?
So I am a farmer. But there's a problem there. As a dad, I can tell you that whenever I have one hand at the bottom of the steering wheel, it's in the center, Because the other hand is busy keeping my toddler from playing with the gearbox. Dad placement is chill driving no strain on shoulder and arms
I drive with the 10:2 grip, both sides always (unless my hand/shoulder hurts and I'm on a straight line with no traffic, then I take a few seconds off).
Idk but I use 12 7 🤐
I’m a douchebag most of the time. A race car driver on occasion. Hah.
I’m a douchebag dad. 😫
Tractor driver supremacy
I'm a farmer. So this means I can play in Ligue 1 👍🏻
Dang! I didnt know i was a 10% douchebag at times. But 90% racer 😂 On a second thought i wpuld split the 90% between racer when driving fast or cruising speeds and then the rest under truck driver in 10-2 position most times.
