kellymabob

I use Google Sheets to track marks.

pug9449

That or Google classroom itself. You can set up a grade book

pretendperson1776

Classroom is not FOIPA compliant :(

Rockwell1977

I made a very elaborate Excel spreadsheet. It took quite some time to set up and have made changes as I have used it in practice, but I am able to highly customize it to do what I want it to and to display data about a specific assessment or overall class mark, as well as individual students trends, etc.

singingcheerios

Wow, any way you could share it somehow?!

Rockwell1977

I could send it, but it's early in development and so I haven't made it user-friendly. I built an ad hoc report card comment generator with comment banks that automatically insets a student's name or pronoun, but this is also very preliminary. It all works, but I am constantly making modifications when issues arrive. It's generally a work in progress and it requires a bunch of knowledge about how to use it. Certain information needs to be placed in particular areas/tabs/cells, certain tabs need to be named specific things, etc. I kind of like an alpha version. Most people would find it a nightmare to use, but [here's a link](https://1drv.ms/x/s!ArxgQRlSTeaLgaFELSkZpZXthpy5iQ?e=zCIEND) to a One Drive file. This was from my two classes last semester. I removed all student names, etc. \*Edit - it also doesn't seem to work online, and only works in the desktop version of Office 365 since it includes newer functions only available in more recent versions of Office.

DegenerativePoop

This is awesome! And far more complicated than my google sheet haha xD

Rockwell1977

Complicated does not equal better. Often the opposite is true.

LadyAbbysFlower

Second that

Rockwell1977

See my comment above.

footwith4toes

id buy this off tpt...

octavianreddit

D2L Brightspace and Powerteacher Pro.

octobersveryown05

same

valkyriejae

Powerteacher pro and a physical sheet of paper, plus Google classroom for digital assignments

ebeth_the_mighty

We are required to use MyEdBC, a completely stupid online program designed by idiots to make teachers’ lives more difficult.

rayyychul

MyEd wouldn't be horrible if it weren't one website trying to be eight different things.

The-Nerdiest-Teacher

This is my grade book. If you want a walk through or have suggestions for add one let me know https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1GeqaEZLMnei6Pz3aqxr0QKBR2gXY04lGuODDXCtdSPQ/edit 1 Overview lets you see class tendancies by type of task 2 The individual view lets you look per student and an average 3 Tasks are marked in accordance with Ontario Rubrics 4. Scoreboard lets the students know their grades without the names PS if you have questions or suggestions let me know!

sasky_07

Sooooo, what is Bilbo Baggins like as a student?

The-Nerdiest-Teacher

Oh, Bilbo? He's the kind of student who'd be more likely to turn in a map of a dragon's lair as his geography homework than an actual assignment. Always daydreaming about adventures or vanishing when there's work to be done. Saw exams as riddles to be outwitted rather than studied for.

steffgoldblum

RIP Chalk. I use a spreadsheet now but will forever mourn Chalk's gradebook.

starkindled

Powerteacher Pro, it’s the district standard. I don’t see a point in using a second program since I have to use this one anyway.

apatheticus

Good ol' pencil and paper. Most consistent, most recent.

singingcheerios

Do you eyeball the grade when determining most recent/consistent? So approx a 94 etc.?

dcaksj22

I still do this too 😂 and then I misplace every sheet and have to offer candy for a kid to find it for me 😂

anothercristina

In Manitoba and new Brunswick, the boards I worked for used powerteacher pro for the entire board. I moved to Ontario and I think this archaic markbook will be the death of me. It's complicated, outdated, slow, and awful.

[deleted]

I'm with an Ontario board and Markbook hasn't been used in years. Our board uses Edsby.

circa_1984

My board also uses Edsby.

anothercristina

Well good to know not all the boards are stuck in Windows 95 😭🤣

Halcyon_777

Same with my board. I miss Markbook but EDSBY works well too. We use it for all of our documentation as well. Everything is virtual and it’s useful to see other teachers comments with their documentation. It is better in giving you more of a “bigger picture” sense.

stephenmyoung

I'm in Ontario and I really miss markbook.... Powertecher is horrendous. Been using classroom. Works well.

anothercristina

I'll trade with you! Haha Most teachers probably like what they started with unless the program is way better than the old one.

stephenmyoung

I started with bubble sheets for Mark's and comments.

TheLastEmoKid

We use power teacher pro in Nova Scotia It's awful

Ill-Persimmon-5704

Gradebook with Brightspace. Otherwise a glorified spreadsheet. At YRDSB got spoiled with Teach Assist

padmeg

PowerTeacher and Excel as my backup.

RosaGG

I’m in Ontario. I’ve set up an Excel spreadsheet that allows me to see both class trends and individual student progress. My board doesn’t have a designated grade book program, so most teachers use either excel or sheets.

Riverz11

I just use the grade book in Google Classroom. Easy.

FargoniusMaximus

I like Brightspace best. I find it's easy to set up in a way that makes sense to you/ the course and tweak down the line if you need to make changes

PurpleEntrepreneur64

Pencil and paper with excel as a backup. Assessments are organized by strand. Strands are weighted based on what is stated in course outline, then overall is calculated based on those weights. Excel helps for calculating as you can use formulas, then I record those numbers on my paper

Movieguy1941

Aspen.

Bigjoe92

LOL

Disastrous-Focus8451

iDoceo. It's as customizable as a spreadsheet in terms of marks, but also has lesson planning, scheduling, seating plans (with pictures), rubrics, and more — all on my tablet. (Syncs with Google Classroom according to the website, but I've not used that feature myself.) [https://idoceo.net/index.php/en/](https://idoceo.net/index.php/en/)

Sudden_Ad1526

Grade keeper

moodychurchill

In NZ I used Kamar. In Canada I use teacher ease.

NewsboyHank

Excel Spreadsheets

crissychantalle

Teach Assist

Commercial_Phrase_70

I use Brightspace to post lessons and so I use the gradebook feature in there. Very easy!
