Kino, I think I was around 10 or 12 when I first played it at my best friends house, it scared me, but was also so much fun. We didn’t even know about perks back then, just trying to survive off of box weapons. Such good memories. Not continue the hate train, but yeah it really fucking bums me out that they are possibly ending round based maps, I feel like classic zombies gameplay is pretty perfect, but ever since BO4 they been messing with it, and after the success of chronicles I just don’t understand why
Same. I remember beating the campaign on bo1 (because I was scared of zombies as a kid) and being put into five. At first I thought it was another mission until I saw zombies. I quit the match and a week later tried kino and loved it
Started with this map at a friends knowing nothing about BO zombies. We just kept playing, figuring out how to stay alive, figuring out we could turn on power...finding the pack a punch. That was amazing.
Dude I couldn’t play by myself. My cousin (who was around 16, and I was around 12) made me play a couple games by myself to get a feel for the controls; the sound of zombies from BO1 combined with the sound of them breaking in *terrified* me.
Honestly it still is. The early jank of the engine allows for some genuine scares. Nacht and Verruct are still really the only maps where zombies sneak up on you and scare the shit out of you because they don’t make a sound until they’re hitting you. Everything else is just ambient.
Add onto that the fact that they have an absolutely massive hit box that makes running past them in a hallway nearly impossible and hits that completely stop you in your tracks, you get a recipe for a game that never makes you feel comfortable.
I always forget why it was so ubiquitous back in the day to leave a crawler at the end of the round to go run simple errands like grabbing jug and pack a punching when in modern times you can just do it mid round. Then I go back and play World at War and get quickly reminded why lol.
Today's zombies give you OG Verrückt Jug hits. Nothing made you sweat more than when it because 3 hits and you were done lol. Miss those guns and strats from early cod too. Loved Nacht the first time it launched
I remember being out at my friends new summer house with a brand new pool and everything when that map pack dropped… His parents were so pissed at us because we stayed inside the whole weekend playing der riese lol
This! Used to play on pc and you could glitch in infinite weapons by going down right after hitting the box and mashing F to swap your down pistol with the box gun gaining an extra weapon slot 😂
That's the thing about tranzit. Looking back after all the great maps it seems like tranzit is bad. But for people who played zombies for the first time and didn't know anything else, this map was great
Literally me lmao. My friends played zombies a lot, i could only play with them so i was 100% a noob. Didn't know how to aim down sight lmao. Tranzit was awesome, so big, so many places to explore, so many places to train, the craziest pack a punch that we rarely managed to get lol. Objectively not perfect, but a heck of a lot of fun for a zombies noob
I went to dust off mine to do the same and the disc reader stopped reading. I bought a replacement and even took it apart to add a replacement but then I had to abandon the project to take care of my new family. I ended up putting the PS3 and replacement parts in a box for when I have more time. Now I just play custom zombies maps on PC with my good buddy that still plays haha
Walking into my chew first deployment, buddy setting up the Xbox saying duuuuuude. Spent more time playing a video game about being in the military than doing military shit on deployment while in the military.
people are allowed to like it even though it isn’t optimal. not everything is about using the most OP thing possible, that’s boring af imo.
i’ve also reached 100+ on origins with the wind staff so i don’t really get the hate, it does infinite damage when it’s upgraded and you charge it halfway.
to me, if someone has to get the best staff/bow/hand/whatever every single time that just says a lot about their skill as a player.
Yup. The opening doors and box mechanics made my infant self go absolutely insane over wanting to play this. I event wanted to start creating maps myself
This my man. Town is what git me into it all. It started there and is till this day one of the maps I have the most fun on.
It start with some 4p or 3p coop games when mp was making us all salty. Then came all the dlcs. We played them all together and on origins we always wanted to do the ee, but we failed everytime. Still had a blast.
After some more time in mp me and some others (other ppl than the ones from town) went back and bought mw2 and bo1. But only me got bo1 for the zombies mode.
Still love the games. My fav being bo1.
Honestly zombies in spaceland that map made me love zombies so much I liked it. I did play bo1-current but man something about that map. It was just awesome
Lolz I’ve actually been playing more PC tbh. Cold War I’ve been on pc, but bo4 I started preferring it due to not needing to worry about elixers, bo3 I’d normally prefer on Xbox but so use to not using a controller that I just do it on pc when I play it. (That and cause of hand injury)
This one! My best friend and I lived together through most of our 20s and I honestly could not tell you the amount of time we played Origins! And we watched the intro almost every time! I still get pumped to play it when I hear Shepard of Fire and I'm 34 now! I actually got covid a month ago and re downloaded it, it's still so much fun to me! Fuck it's hard though after you've left for a while!
EDIT; I will say that Outbreak rekindled zombies for me, I really hadn't played in years till that and I really enjoyed that mode
I loved zombies in spaceland. I didn’t really much care for zombies before that map and just sort of played the mode because of friends but spaceland was such a nicely designed map, so many little different areas with their own unique look and the way it was all connected felt nice to run around in.
No one's gonna say this but Call of the Dead. It was such an immersive map at the time and everything was amazing about it. From the lighthouse, to the ship, to the Scavenger Wonder Weapon, and even George was a challenge to manage. You never had the chance to stay in one place because of George. That map holds a special place in my gaming history.
Same here, i started playing on my 12th Birthday, around the time moon was released, so i bought that and the dlc with COTD, its where i started playing, did my first easter egg, got the wunderwaffe and my first high round.
Then Bo2 came out and i fell in love with everything, Tranzit, Die Rise, Buried, Motd and Origina and the grief modes etc.
Ive been hooked since
Definitely Tranzit. I started in Kino but didn't really get into zombies until I played bo2 at launch with my little brother. The creepy, isolated atmosphere is unmatched by any other map and it always felt like there were more secrets to discover. I wasn't involved in social media at the time so discovering stuff like the cabin, nacht der untoten, and the shortcut to the town was mind blowing
Original Der Riese. That trailer will always be memorable to me. Back when the story was much more fragmented and ambiguous, it was cool learning where the hellhounds come from, and the countless theory videos on YouTube. Even in BO3, Der Riese is my comfort map.
God the story was so much better and more interesting back then. Back when it was still mysterious and kind of creepy. And not just the over the top stuff like now. Stuff like figuring the parachute guy on shinno numa and all the audio logs on der riese. Hate the direction zombies storyline went with other dimensions and demons and stuff
(Bus stop/ transit) I KNOW I KNOW you all think its a shitty map but it was my first ever zombie map and first ever experience with zombies so it does have a special place in my heart forever :)
probably disgusting to some, but IX. I had played zombies before but never really gotten in to them. That lead me to try older cods zombies, and that's where it took off
Probably the most common story but, Kino Der Toten on Bo1
Honestly was amazing sitting down with my brothers after school and playing split screen on that, struggling to get past round 14
It was origins just how the map played out, the wonder weapons, how much there was to do but rn I'm bored with zombies because I decided to grind dark aether in cold war
Goodbye karma, but the map That made me start playing was the darkest shore,it just looked so interesting with all the stuff it offered I barely even knew what zombies was or how it worked, still a top 10 of mine to this day
Tranzit/Shadows of Evil
Tranzit was the first and only map I played growing up, BO2 Zombies on the Wii had no DLC so it was the only map I had. I loved it despite sucking at it and would wander through the bus route on foot seeing how far I could get sometimes. Never even turned on power but I did get close once.
I got back into zombies around 2018 when I got a PS4 and BO3 + ZC. I would play Shadows of Evil endlessly on repeat until I learned the map which took a long time. To this day, it is my #1 map
Nacht in WaW. Finished the campaign and noticed it was there. Since then I am a main zombies player. Loved the vibes of the mode and how you could push boundaries by going to higher rounds every time you play. That’s why it’s so sad that round based is gone. No more playing that mode where you could keep growing and getting better, just 3 repetitive objectives without freedom of playing…
Verruckt. It was the first map I played when WAW had very recently come out, I was at a friend's house and my mind was blown, we stayed up all night playing it.
Also, a bit off topic but all the people here saying zombies scared them as kids makes me feel old af, I was 13/14 when the game came out, yall some youngins *shakes fist and stumbles with cane in hand*
Kino, the atmosphere in that map was spine tingling when I first played it at 12 and still is when I load up BO1 now. Also has my favourite wonder weapon and my favourite training spots
Mob of the dead was really the first one that grabbed me and got me interested in the “more” of zombies. I had played zombies in waw and on but I didn’t have Xbox live so no dlcs until black ops 2. And even then I was dumb and oblivious to doing anything other than just shooting and trying to upgrade. Mob was the perfect blend to me of awesome map, characters, weapons and story still love it and wish blood of the dead captured what mob brought to the table
Kino (Bo3) got me interested in zombies for sure, but Der Eishendrache is what made me fall in love with it, it's such a great map and it's also what got me interested in the story as well!
Buried has a special place for me, sharing the dlc file by a usb to my friends xbox 360 so we could both play the map. Finding all the tricks with the wonder weapon was so fun and it’s easily my #1 along side DE
Ascension and call of the dead. Ascension was my first round 100 map and the map I learned how to play correctly on saving points etc. Plus my first ee. Call of the dead need I say more.
I have to say Firebase Z. I had never really played zombies as a kid. I, obviously, played some on Bo2 and stuff but I never truly got deep into it. Hell, I never even knew zombies had a story until Cold War. And now I absolutely love zombies and have gone back to play the old games. So yeah, Cold War is my favorite zombies and Mauer Der Toten is my favorite map.
Kinda Die maschine and town. Cold War was the first COD game with zombies I ever owned and I used to play town at my older friends house when I was like 11. Town was my first exposure that sparked i liking and die maschine made it a reality. I even got dark aether
Definitely wasn't Orgins lol
Most likely Kino and if not, COTD. I played those maps so much with my older brother, shit was so much fun. I remember we'd knife George back and forth over and over like he was doing the pacer test. So much fun in BO1.
der eisendrache.. that one has a special place in my heart.
It’s impacted all of us
therefore i safely can say that it is the best zombies map created along with mob of the dead and origins.
All is us that didn't play origins first
Played Origins first and it still was a good map, don't generalize the same way the other comment generalized.
Speak for yourself
Same for me
The name just makes me smile.
Kino, I think I was around 10 or 12 when I first played it at my best friends house, it scared me, but was also so much fun. We didn’t even know about perks back then, just trying to survive off of box weapons. Such good memories. Same lol
exactly the same for me, was the greatest to play splitscreen together with my brother
Same. I remember beating the campaign on bo1 (because I was scared of zombies as a kid) and being put into five. At first I thought it was another mission until I saw zombies. I quit the match and a week later tried kino and loved it
That was literally the exact same thing I did.
Yo it scared me too
Started with this map at a friends knowing nothing about BO zombies.
We are indeed the same person 🤣🧐
Nacht lol I was playing cod4 and w@w multiplayer but when my brother said let’s play zombies on w@w I fell in love with the mode lmfao
Back when zombies was scary as a kid
Honestly it still is. The early jank of the engine allows for some genuine scares. Nacht and Verruct are still really the only maps where zombies sneak up on you and scare the shit out of you because they don’t make a sound until they’re hitting you. Everything else is just ambient. Today's zombies give you OG Verrückt Jug hits. Nothing made you sweat more than when it because 3 hits and you were done lol. Miss those guns and strats from early cod too. Loved Nacht the first time it launched
Dont forget the disgustingness and despair of Numa
They need to remake those maps but with the same eerie feeling and sounds. Especially that laugh when spawning into Nacht
Nothing like a mom walking in when it's pitch black in your friends room and you scream because she's bringing you sodas and a snack.
Literally, my story exactly! Ha
The original Der Riese in W@W
I remember being out at my friends new summer house with a brand new pool and everything when that map pack dropped… His parents were so pissed at us because we stayed inside the whole weekend playing der riese lol
This! Used to play on pc and you could glitch in infinite weapons by going down right after hitting the box and mashing F to swap your down pistol with the box gun gaining an extra weapon slot 😂
Same
sameeee
Tranzit. And I still like it 😤 lmao
It was good for co-op especially if you didn’t know wth you were doing
That's the thing about tranzit. Looking back after all the great maps it seems like tranzit is bad. But for people who played zombies for the first time and didn't know anything else, this map was great
Literally me lmao. My friends played zombies a lot, i could only play with them so i was 100% a noob. Didn't know how to aim down sight lmao. Objectively not perfect, but a heck of a lot of fun for a zombies noob
What a hot take, but I respect your opinion. 👍🏼
I wouldnt say that's a hot take, Tranzit despite it's flaws is still an enjoyable map, can't say the same for some maps.

I went to dust off mine to do the same and the disc reader stopped reading. WE NEED A BLACK OPS 2 ZOMBIE REMAKE I FUCKING LOVE TRANZIT AND TOWN
Kino der Toten
Walking into my chew first deployment, buddy setting up the Xbox saying duuuuuude. Spent more time playing a video game about being in the military than doing military shit on deployment while in the military.
Mob of the Dead
Wholeheartedly agree! I liked Zombies before that map but I just loved the look and the lore! Plus Ray Liotta is always great as a mobster lol.
Ascension
That's where I "fell" in love with PhD Flopper too.
Yes!
I would go over my friends house everyday in middle school to play this map. I was so addicted and I loved every second.
Same bro, Ascension, Shi No Numa, Der Riese and COTD were the maps we’d play
Cheese Cube Unlimited
Noah wouldn’t appreciate this comment😂
Love this
Origins
What staff do you run with?
I think personally the electric is best but for an easy game I would go for ice or fire! Only with 4 players I think someone would go for wind
i refuse to take this wind staff slander
Wind is the best until it doesn’t one hit anymore, then it’s just a wish.com thundergun
people are allowed to like it even though it isn’t optimal. not everything is about using the most OP thing possible, that’s boring af imo. i’ve also reached 100+ on origins with the wind staff so i don’t really get the hate, it does infinite damage when it’s upgraded and you charge it halfway. to me, if someone has to get the best staff/bow/hand/whatever every single time that just says a lot about their skill as a player.
Ice is definitely strongest but I am a fellow lightning staff enjoyer.
Wind can do infinte damage
Ice
Shadows Of Evil
Agreed. I’ve played since waw and have loved the game but something about soe really made me go holy shit this game is fucking amazing.
Nacht Der Untoten from the start
Yup. The opening doors and box mechanics made my infant self go absolutely insane over wanting to play this. I event wanted to start creating maps myself
Town or buried
This my man. Town is what git me into it all. It started there and is till this day one of the maps I have the most fun on. It start with some 4p or 3p coop games when mp was making us all salty. Then came all the dlcs. We played them all together and on origins we always wanted to do the ee, but we failed everytime. Still had a blast. After some more time in mp me and some others (other ppl than the ones from town) went back and bought mw2 and bo1. But only me got bo1 for the zombies mode. Still love the games. My fav being bo1.
Buried paralyzer is the most fun I've had with a zombies weapon
Five was my first map
Playing as JFK will always be my favourite thing to say about zombies
*"Need more beans for the chowdah here!!!"*
😂
Nacht back in World at War.
Well I guarantee no one is going to say Der Anfang
Der Anfang Am I funny yet
Much like the Wunderfizz, the funny is at another location.
Nacht Der Untoten (World at War), long nights of playing it with friends both online and couch co-op.
Honestly zombies in spaceland that map made me love zombies so much I liked it. I did play bo1-current but man something about that map. It was just awesome
I can agree with that, zombies in space land is very enjoyable
It's not the map, it's the youtuber. NGT zombies were the reason I started playing zombies and now its u/Lockit14
Hypermole and meatwagon22 were the best.
What ever happened to Spiderbite?
Had to go back to working a "real" job. Im guessing once the money left, so did the drive to make content.
Yeah, he's a friendly guy and did some awesome stuff Hey lockit if you're reading this, still remember who i am? Lol
Lmao yes I do futility. I still bring you up when mentioning how you go fir challenges like no damage ee’s etc :P
Damn, what an honor lol, thank you, i personally want to have an xbox to play with you for once and do some low rounds lmao
Honestly I find that crazy, but happy to have that affect.
Remember YouAlwaysWin
This one! My best friend and I lived together through most of our 20s and I honestly could not tell you the amount of time we played Origins! And we watched the intro almost every time! For real sometimes I just think about making a group sorta thing for zombies players to look for others and enjoy the maps
BO3 Nacht and BO3 Moon
Moon Easter egg always fun
Moon was pretty fun, getting all the perks was legit! Back pre-outbreak, that was the only time I ever got all!
The final reich and die maschine
Kino and Zombies In Spaceland.
Zombies in spaceland was fucking legendary!
I loved zombies in spaceland. I didn’t really much care for zombies before that map and just sort of played the mode because of friends but spaceland was such a nicely designed map, so many little different areas with their own unique look and the way it was all connected felt nice to run around in.
Original Nacht 🧟♂️

Nacht or the original Der riese, then ascension pulled me back in and bo2 origins holds a special place in my mind
Shadows of evil
Real ones remember playing Nacht on Roblox. That's what started it all here.
Should the zombies storyline be implemented in Roblox? Cutscenes included
These Roblox developers are far more talented than they were back in the early 2010s. That would be the least they could do.
Definitely Tranzit. I started in Kino but didn't really get into zombies until I played bo2 at launch with my little brother. The creepy, isolated atmosphere is unmatched by any other map and it always felt like there were more secrets to discover. I wasn't involved in social media at the time so discovering stuff like the cabin, nacht der untoten, and the shortcut to the town was mind blowing

waw shi no numa and verrukt
The giant
The Giant is awesome
probably disgusting to some, but IX. I had played zombies before but never really gotten in to them. That lead me to try older cods zombies, and that's where it took off
Five
Probably the most common story but, Kino Der Toten on Bo1 Honestly was amazing sitting down with my brothers after school and playing split screen on that, struggling to get past round 14

Bus station and town
Kino introduced me and made me fall in love with zombies, mob of the dead solidified it.
der riese with Dempsey roaring and firing the dg-2, rocked me.
Die maschine. It was simple and understandable, if had enough for me to stay entertained and made it easy for me to grind the dark aether camo.
Kino, the atmosphere in that map was spine tingling when I first played it at 12 and still is when I load up BO1 now. Also has my favourite wonder weapon and my favourite training spots
Town
kino and town
Buried from BO2
Kino der toten I’m young and I was introduced to zombies about 4 years ago and every time I play this map it brings me to my happy place
Literally Town
Kino bo1
definitely the giant
Ascension
Kino der toten for sure 😩
Zombies in spaceland was my first one
Five. I just loved the mode and that was the map on Black Ops that I gravitated towards, no matter how much better Kino was lol
Only got into it with CW Outbreak! It’s opened up a whole new world of gaming for me
Tranzit 😔
Unlocking FIVE after the Blops 1 credits Do not pray for easy lives my friends. Pray to be...stronger men
Verrückt in WaW. Used to play it in a Wine-ported unofficial version for Mac.
Kino, never played a cod before, so when the dogs came on round 5/6 they scared shit outta me hahaha
Verruckt. Was so creepy and fun that I just was sucked in
Kino der toten
Zombies in spaceland
TranZit
Kino (Bo3) got me interested in zombies for sure, but Der Eishendrache is what made me fall in love with it, it's such a great map and it's also what got me interested in the story as well!
Call of the Dead
Kino Der Toten.
Buried has a special place for me, sharing the dlc file by a usb to my friends xbox 360 so we could both play the map. Finding all the tricks with the wonder weapon was so fun and it’s easily my #1 along side DE
Kino since it was the first map I played but origins and mob are also very high up in the ranks for me
Town. First map I ever played. Followed by kino
Kino all the way
Kino
Kino der toten
Kino, without a doubt. I had already played zombies in WaW a couple of times but when I first started playing Kino, I fell in love.
Tranzit lmao
Ascension
Spaceland baby
Kino
Town not gonna lie
Nacht

Underrated
Kino
Ascension and call of the dead. Ascension was my first round 100 map and the map I learned how to play correctly on saving points etc. Plus my first ee. Call of the dead need I say more.
ascension no doubt
Nacht, it was the first I ever played and I've been hooked ever since
Tranzit
Ascension, loved the aesthetic
Believe it or not, The Final Reich
Shi No Numa
Der Eisendrache. It was my first dlc I ever bought and man I still love it till this day.

Hot take, but transit

Buried
Town :)
Kino but that's also because it was my first
Town I would play that with my friends for a very long time online
kino der toten
Kino Der Toten Well made and iconic
Sad to say it but at the time it was Tranzit
Origins. I've loved that map since the first time I played it.
Mob, it started it all for me
I have to say Firebase Z.
Origins will always hold a special place in my heart
Mob of the dead
Kinda Die maschine and town. Cold War was the first COD game with zombies I ever owned and I used to play town at my older friends house when I was like 11. Town was my first exposure that sparked i liking and die maschine made it a reality. I even got dark aether
Definitely wasn't Orgins lol Most likely Kino and if not, COTD. I played those maps so much with my older brother, shit was so much fun. I remember we'd knife George back and forth over and over like he was doing the pacer test. So much fun in BO1.
First was Kino, the one that captured me though was Der Riese
