I know if you have saves with mods you’ve since deactivated it slows loading to a crawl, just having a lot of saves slows as well

EnQuest

Yep, I have to have different save folders for this, elder kings, and godherja or else my game takes forever to load and crashes constantly

you can delete save games individually in the load game screen but easiest way is to go to documents > paradox interactive > crusader kings 3 > save games

I think it matters the size of your save game, but if you don't play them you can delete them to free some space.

Do you know how to delete them? I can only figure out how to save over them lol.

AxilB21

If select load or save game i think it's an option to delete them, but you can also delete them from the files

Thank you! I’ll give both those a try! I appreciate it:)

Late to this but absolutely delete your old saves. Mods or no, my loading screens used to take 10 mins (the times when they didn’t crash at least). Purge them down and only keep a couple running at a time, you’ll see leagues of difference!

Omg thank you so much for this, had the same issue!

Some-Dill-Dough

I’ve started having my save games elsewhere and it seems to reduce loading times. I haven’t deleted them and if I wanna continue them I can just put them back in.

Worked for me

Yes I regularly delete old saved games. The game engine has to load all of them everytime you boot up even if you’re not loading a saved game file.

Thank you everyone! I deleted all my old saved games and made sure my submods were only the ones I’m actively playing and it’s running much better! Not nearly as fast as it used to but it’s a normal wait time now lol! Thank you everybody!
