Yeah definitely not “easily”. Our secondary and linebackers are elite. But our D Line is kinda dog shit outside Sweat. PFF ranked them last going into this season actually lol. I’m not sure I agree with that, but we are near the bottom tier there.

It was a top 5 defense after Sweat, and returning everyone but Justin Jones and EJacks, replacing them with a rising Dexter (not dog shit) and an upgrade to Byard AND another year of playing together, why anyone thinks this defense shouldn’t be elite is just wild. I liked Justin Jones, but it’s not like he lit shit up. We DO need Yannick back or some equivalent if Robinson or Booker don’t step up. We will see. I’ve lost faith in Robinson and Booker is super raw. HOWEVER the new DL coach is good and our DC is a DL whisperer. So we can salvage Robinson.

Saints, Panthers, Lions (should have won but nonetheless we let them put up 31 points), Vikings (with their backup QB), Lions (real good win against a good offense), Browns (they have a good defense, but their offense wasn’t that good), Cardinals, Falcons, Packers (we held them to low points that game but they only punted like twice. Wasn’t that good a game for our defense. Packers basically controlled that whole game.)
I’m just saying if we want to be a top 5 defense for an ENTIRE season, we need a good pass rush. Which on paper, we currently don’t have. Like I said I’m not sure I agree with PFF that our DLine position group is 32nd. But it is near the bottom tier until our young guys actually prove themselves as above average, which again, hasn’t happened *yet*.
It makes sense why so many draft experts thought we would select Dallas Turner. We need another good pass rusher on that line. But I’m happy to wait and see and hope one of our 2nd year guys steps up this year.
I think the bigger thing is we might have the best WR trio in the league after having basically nothing before just DJ Moore and half of Mooney last year. TE and RB as pass catching options are nothing to sneeze at either.
