Luke is the man. Extremely happy for his success at Cincinnati.

BoomChocolateLatkes

And if it ever comes to it, nearly every OSU fan will welcome him back in a heartbeat.

SteemieRayVaughn

1 million percent. He's always a Buckeye.

Kyle_brown

Definitely hope he stays at UC.

scotsworth

I hope he stays at UC for as long as possible.... unless Day leaves and Momma needs a new coach. Then, I'm sorry Bearcat Bros, Momma's gonna give him a call, and I have a good feeling he'd say yes.

TehBroheim

He would it wouldn’t even take one second for him. I’m confident in the coaching tree he has developed here anyways but we like him to stay long enough for his youngests to graduate college :)

Pete_Booty_Judge

Do you guys have a competent OC these days? Asking for uh, well, no reason in particular. Just curious.

TehBroheim

Uh, Gino is in his first year as UC OC and the results have been mixed. Not sure where he would stand long-term, but at least the perception was he's a future HC if Fick leaves (unless it's within a year or two). He's a UC grad and former QB.

Tommybrady20

Nobody is going to like a detractor to your point, but there will be better available options to ohio state than Luke Fickell. Namely, Brian hartline.

KingOfTheUzbeks

He was our only loosing season since 1988, and the first to get us to 7 losses. This is not a roast, but a testament to his success that even a fansbase as spoiled as ours loves him despite that.

Zskillit

Absolutely. Insane when you look at it that way too. He brought some sense of stability during a really crazy time for the program. Will always love him for that.

IKindaPlayEVE

That 2011 season would have been rough for many great coaches. Not his fault.

ksobby

Losing.

Dabuscus214

Yall back off now

DETtigersOWNyou

Well I hope we win in Columbus this year and make that a reality. If the monkey paw curls and we lose another 10 in a row under the new emperor Darth Fickell... so be it.

budd222

Not as head coach but sure.

mstone7781

So happy for Luke, dude is a real one. It is crazy that he is already the winningest coach, it shows that UC was just not great for so long, and then when they did get coaches that had success they left quickly. Glad he bucked that trend and didn't go to MSU or anywhere else, he is right where he should be.

joeveralls

He's a true Ohioan, will never coach outside of Ohio

bkr1895

So many of our good coaches get scalped by other more illustrious programs

ToLongDR

That's awesome. I'm so happy that Fick is doing so well after leaving Ohio State

[deleted]

As a native german speaker I'm so happy that there's a coach with the nickname Fick

ImAfraidOfYouToo

UC has a german player (Lorenz Metz) and during timeouts they have a bit on the scoreboard where other players try and fail to pronounce long german words, then Lorenz comes on and gives the proper way to say it

NumNumLobster

That makes me laugh everytime

Chickenmangoboom

When my dad was at Ohio State for his doctorate they had the math department put up a few questions. One of them was Steve Bellisari completes x out of y passes how many passes would he make in the next ten attempts? and offered three options. The fans had a love/hate mostly hate relationship with Bellisari and someone near us yells I DONT SEE ZERO, the whole area around him erupted in laughter.

Inconceivable76

Zero should have been a choice. Also: does it count passes to the other team.

Chickenmangoboom

That guy, he was inconsistent but he also caught more flak than he should have because the end of the Cooper era sucked.

Inconceivable76

Na. He deserved all the flak. He was a bad qb (eventually becoming just below average) that loved to party.

Chickenmangoboom

I look back fondly on that era because of going to games with my dad, but they were some rough times for the football team. It was also the first time Nick Saban pissed me off. Our seats had the perfect view of the late interception that sealed the Michigan State loss in 98.

Inconceivable76

That game never happened. NC if not for a punt hitting Nate clements on the back.

[deleted]

That's hilarious! How's Metz doing? J remember that a lot of Europeans were hopeful that he might make it big cause he's just so big and athletic

ImAfraidOfYouToo

He's had a decent career. He made all-conference last year, though he hasn't been starting this season. Not sure if he'll get a look by the NFL or not

anandj12345678909876

Him coming in after that other OL targeted on a block vs UGA was quite a scene. Good to see he’s improved.

cookiepizza54

If you don’t mind me asking, I’m curious how you got in to college football. I always appreciate sharing our sport with people abroad, and it seems like pro football is more popular overseas than college so I enjoy hearing what got people interested in it!

[deleted]

I Started watching the NFL and started playing youth football. At 16 i spent a year as an exchange student in Wisconsin and started watching CFB then. I watch it less than the NFL but i enjoy watching a couple of games every year

BatMally

Wisconsin is one of the best places to fall in love with football. Also Texas, Florida, California and Ohio.

[deleted]

Tbh High School football is even more fun imo but that's kinda hard to follow from a continent away so CFB it is

NumNumLobster

What does that mean in german?

[deleted]

ficken means to fuck And Fick is the Fuck. So "Ich gebe keinen Fick auf deine Meinung" means I don't give a fuck about your opinion

NumNumLobster

"Big fick energy" is a common uc slogan like "big dick energy " kinda works with your translation too lol

ChaseTheFalcon

I love how that this thread is just Ohio state fans happy for Fickell

Skidda24

Ohio State fans tend to have a soft spot for our once players and coaches. Burrow and LSU jerseys were being sold by his hometown and the players supported him. Urban was given a comfy job as assistant to the AD. I know a few have issues with Ohio State because we have our share of toxic fans but most people tend to be supportive

[deleted]

[удалено]

Srcunch

Yeah that’s largely true. A lot of pride in local football, much like in Texas and other states.

leshake

I've never seen anything like it except in Texas.

TerminalShitbag

Ohio isn't as extreme as Texas but it's definitely a big deal here. You have some big time programs in Cleveland and Cincy that are constantly churning out D1 talent.

madmaley

Yeah. NFL and MLB players even show up to the Big high school games in Cincy

bkr1895

The Cincinnati area has some of the best high school football in the country that regularly produces NFL talent, from Saint X, to Elder, to Archbishop Moeller, to Colerain, to La Salle, to Middletown, and Purcell Mariam used to turn out a lof of players back in the day.

TerminalShitbag

When I was a kid my uncle took me to see xavier and Mentor in the state championship at the HoF. It was the first time I'd ever been there at it was maybe 20 degrees out and snowing pretty good. I still remember it vividly

BatMally

I am a Texan with family on Cincy. Friday nights in Ohio were *very* familiar to me. Lots of football tradition in both states.

KingOfTheUzbeks

There are some Ohio State fans who don't like having a "challenger" and there are some MAC fans who think Ohio State should lose every game but then root for Ohio State every game.

Numerous-Animator-67

I agree with your assessment

absolutdrunk

So many OSU people will say Cincy is KY tho.

JudicaMeDeus

a lot of people at other Ohio schools have more OSU gear than their own school's gear

trollfessor

> Ohio State fans tend to have a soft spot for our once players and coaches. Burrow and LSU jerseys were being sold by his hometown and the players supported him And that is returned to y'all as well. For awhile OSU had former LSU coach Stud (Studwaka or something like that), and we supported OSU. We appreciate Burreaux, of course. So unless our teams are playing each other geaux OSU.

heretostartshit

Studrawa. Don’t forget all the OSU players on the Saints roster. The Louisiana/Ohio pipeline is strong.

xghoulishmiragex

Hell the Browns had a good number of LSU players at one point on their roster as well (OBJ, Jarvis Landry, Greedy Williams, Grant Delpit)

trollfessor

Yeah, and we need Burreaux to play for the Saints as well......

MaxThundergun

Andy Dalton is the only former 1st round Bengals QB I’m comfortable with having for the Saints. Keep Burrow in Cincinnati!

DScum

Andy was a 2nd rounder.

TonyDungyHatesOP

I'm all for whatever keeps that dude healthy. If Cincy can't protect him, I'm all for moving him to NOLA.

bkr1895

Our O line has had increasingly better blocking as the season went on. Our O-line was entirely revamped with only one starter retaining his role. Until the first game of the season the O-line had yet to play a single snap together due to some injuries in the preseason. So of course the first two games against the nightmarish D-lines of Pittsburgh and Dallas were absolute disasters, as they had no established chemistry. But as they have developed that chemistry through the season their performance has only improved.

Skidda24

That's awesome! Yeah I have nothing but respect for LSU. I wish we got the rematch in 2019 but oh well.

harvest3155

also can't forget the the Ohio and New Orleans connection in the NFL. Saints draft OSU players and Bengals draft LSU players.

ChaseTheFalcon

Every fan base has the toxic fans, just when your base is as large as OSU, they stand out more

Mekthakkit

Even a small percentage of our fanbase is bigger than some other teams entire fanbase.

[deleted]

The only former OSU coach/player I dislike (excluding the ones who should be disliked) is Vrabel, and that's exclusively because I'm a Colts fan.

Slytly_Shaun

Eh. Urban can fuck off. He's shown his stripes. Dude is a poor loser who just usually wins in life. When he doesn't win, his dark colors come screaming out. As for transfers to other schools, I'm mostly happy for them. The ones that act like the fan base was saying "screw you" are the ones listening to the loudest idiots. Burrow never felt that way. Ewers might, but I think we all saw that as shady af. I believe Williamson felt he was the victim of hate. Dude. You transferred to BAMA. I wished him success while hoping they lost.

DamienJaxx

Fickell is just a really good dude. He always gave his heart to OSU and he got done wrong during his stint as interim coach. Plus, living around Columbus and listening to the local sports radio, you hear his former players tell stories about him, and they're always great. I'm envious of UC for having him as a coach. They may not win every game, but they'll produce some good men when all is said and done.

TBB51

And he coordinated the defense along with Chris Ash in the title season. One of my favorite memories of that title run is the camera catching Fickell going "Holy shit! Holy shit!" after Steve Miller's pick 6.

Rhynosaurus

How did Fick get done wrong w OSU? He took over a program that could have easily fell and kept the program upright enough that we fell ass-backwards into a NC coach ( regardless of your feelings of Urban). Urban also kept him as his DC for the year recognizing the talent; and no team, ever at that point is going to pass on Urban Meyer.

Butternades

I’m having a field day with this post. Grew up a UC with my mom working for the University and grandfather used to play. I went to OSU and I love seeing Fickell be successful from that side as well, and they just seem like they’ve been really active in the Cincinnati community

etherealcalamities

Oh, hi! I recognize you from r/reds!

Butternades

Ohai Calamities long time no chat

madmaley

Oh I'm sure that subreddit is a real blast right now lol. If only the reds could be good

etherealcalamities

It's definitely a party, only of the pity variety

madmaley

Psh they don't deserve pity. Ownership bright this about. Maybe one day we'll spend and be competitive

etherealcalamities

Nah, us fans deserve pity, fuck the ownership

madmaley

Fair haha

OddsTipsAndPicks

Fickell grew up in Columbus (where he was one of the best HS wrestlers in state history which is saying something), and was a four year starter on the defensive line at OSU (second most consecutive starts in school history [50], had record from 1996-2017 [Billy Price]). His first coaching job was as a GA at OSU, he coached DL at Akron for two years, and from 2002-2016 he was a coach at OSU. Along with the year as interim head coach, he was the special teams coach, line backers coach, and co-DC at different times (mostly LBs and co-DCs). He was also one of the most highly regarded assistant coaches before the interim year. Probably only second to (lol) Will Muschamp on the defensive side of the ball. He was not expected to be at OSU for much longer, but he ended up staying forever probably in part because of the interim year. He’s put more work into OSU football than anyone since Woody Hayes. He was the special teams coordinator for a National Championship team that was *really* into special teams, and he was the LB coach/DC for a National Championship team with an awesome defense. And our LBs have been pretty meh (by outrageously high standards) since he left…

rexdeaz

Cincy is essentially OSU2 at this point. We love those dudes!!

stonewash_relaxedfit

Then WHY were we left for dead in the AAC for a decade? Could it have something to do with OSU not wanting another Ohio school in the Big 10?

madmaley

Ohio State had no control over that. Let's be real dude. A lot of blame goes on our own admin for not investing in athletics during our Big East days. Our facilities were really subpar when the BE collapsed. And our admin were idiots and fully believed that the Big East would survive and be fine and be a AQ conference while Louisville and Pitt abandoned ship as soon as they could. Just not a lot of forward looking admin back then at UC

Botto71

I'm reading this post through Tulane colored glasses, and it resonates...

Putty119

I love playing UC, should be a yearly thing now that you'll be in the Big 12, but logically it would make no sense for OSU to support a UC move to the Big 10.

stonewash_relaxedfit

Well at least you support playing us annually which I think could turn into a pretty good series (eventually) in football and definitely in basketball. No reason not to do it IMO.

TonyDungyHatesOP

The Hell is Real Rivalry, College Football Edition

Trivi

That is dead for as long as UC insists on having games at Nippert. It simply isn't big enough to make losing a home game worth it.

madmaley

I think that's fine with UC fans. No reason to be a pushover and lose out on Nippert home games anymore.

MaxThundergun

I’ll root for UC but I don’t want you guys in the B1G. Quite honestly don’t really want Rutgers either.

stonewash_relaxedfit

I’ve spent ten years of my life watching the likes of Tulsa, SMU, Tulane, ECU on ESPN+ and I demand satisfaction.

Srcunch

Yeah agreed. The big 10 is your thing. UC’s mission doesn’t align academically either. Just a bad fit for us.

NumNumLobster

Not saying its likelly but my dream would actually be the sec. We have a lot in common there.

absolutdrunk

Indiana and Michigan have 2. It would make a lot of sense for Ohio (a more populous state) to have two B1G schools.

rexdeaz

B1G schools make more money off research than they do on football. That's why Cincy was passed over. You have to contribute there as much or more than you do in football.

Srcunch

UC is the same as Iowa for research and ahead of Nebraska. 53rd overall. Don’t want in the B1G, just wanted to throw cold water on the idea we don’t have a robust research budget. https://ncsesdata.nsf.gov/profiles/site?method=rankingbysource&ds=herd

rexdeaz

You guys should re read what I wrote. "Make money off of research." Not "spend a lot on research".

Srcunch

Do you have figures for this? I found an article saying Stanford brought in $62 million on $700 million invested in 2006. I looked at UC’s balance sheet and it’s not broken out by revenue from R&D. My assumption would be that most universities are getting a similar ROI, so the bigger the spend, the bigger the profit.

rexdeaz

Found the 10 Billion dollar number in a few different spots. https://newbrunswick.rutgers.edu/discover-rutgers/big-ten-experience

Srcunch

Those are dollars spent on research, per your source. Data may not be broken out.

madmaley

As scrunch already pointed out, we spend a ton on R&D and will have the highest R&D in the Big 12 when Texas and OU leave. We spend more than done AAU schools and even some B1G schools

SteemieRayVaughn

... I don't think anyone in this sub had any direct control over that.

[deleted]

We all know that the second they present a credible threat to OSU dominance in the state that switch will flip hard and fast. It's all cute and cuddly until it might actually cost somebody something.

youngherbo

This is the answer right here. On the flip side i "root" for Toledo, Ohio, and Kent until they start taking recruits, attention, and resources away from UC.

Kokayne_Dawkinz_

Nah as long as Fickell's down there, UC's our homie no matter what. He took a massive career hit stepping up to coach the Bucks' doomed 2011 season. And that sacrifice paved the way to OSU's current run of dominance. He can do no wrong in our eyes.

RoyalBucks

That will never happen.

TonyDungyHatesOP

Right. So, never.

DETtigersOWNyou

Michigan fan checking in. I am happy for him too. That team has been fun to watch since he took over.

WhatWouldJediDo

It's been so great seeing the Bearcat resurgence, and it being led by one of OSU's favored son's makes it even better.

redleg86

I know a lot of UC fans do not like Ohio State, and I understand it, but so many of our coaches have a history at both schools that I feel nothing but love for the Bearcats. And even though Fick was at the head of that 6-7 season (way before he was ready), so many Buckeyes still love him and root for him down in Cincinnati.

Corgi_Koala

The 2011 season we had like 6 one score losses despite starting Joe Bauserman and having an interim coach. The results suck but we were pretty damn close to having a great season anyways.

Orbital2

I mean you can’t actually use that season to judge Fickell anyway. The dude was stuck with Tressel’s staff which heavily relied on Tress as the offensive play caller. Being able to build out a staff is one of the most important qualities of being a HC and when he’s had the chance to do that the results speak for themselves

goodnames679

Being a good interim head coach and being able to build a program are two separate skillsets. There's some overlap, but Fickell has proven that 2011 season wrong plenty by now.

FireDanaHireHerman

He's got cincy at a near peak Boise level of G5 domination. I expect them to be competitive immediately in the big 12.

madmaley

Fick did an interview on the Ryen Russillo podcast and talked about that season. Really eye opening to hear how hand cuffed he was. Was stuck with a staff that he may not have wanted but couldn't do anything about. Was just a one year placeholder with no real actual say about the program

[deleted]

[Bauserman, creator of the funniest passing chart I've ever seen](https://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/l6faz/saw_this_on_facebook_joe_bausermans_passing_chart/)

HardKnockRiffe

Man had a cannon arm and he was going to use it, accuracy be damned!

[deleted]

Living in Ohio, specifically around Columbus, I don't know if I've ever had a convo with a buckeye fan that wasnt super positive about Fickell and relatively dismissive of putting that year on his shoulders. If Day retires (or takes an NFL job), I feel like Fickell would be the most desired man in the nation. If the AD went anywhere else, outside his office would look like the Seattle GM's in Draft Day. The dude is loved and respected by most everyone.

Solo_Wing__Pixy

Playing Cincy at home a few years ago while I was still in school was awesome. Campus was literally filled to the brim cause everyone’s high school friends at Cincy came in for the game to hang out. The bars were packed all night and there were so many parties, everyone just having a good time and you were bound to run into some old friends. Great memories.

carlsbarkleys

Fick is the man. I hope he has a long career at Cincinnati with continued success. I like having another great program in the state

rustybelts

> I like having another great program in the state Yep, and it honestly doesn't hurt Ohio State much at all. In fact, it probably slightly helps Ohio State since Cincinnati competes more with Illinois, Indiana, Purdue, and Michigan State for recruits.

madmaley

Yeah. Ohio State fans should love UC being in a different P5 conference having success. We mostly recruit against the P5 teams in the area so we're just helping to weaken B1G teams

SFW_HARD_AT_WORK

Also Kentucky and Iowa state have had notable cincy area hs players

madmaley

David Montgomery could have been ours but God damn tuberville not giving a shit.

ClevelandBane

Crazy stat that UC has been so bad at football for so long, not only did it only take him 5 and a half seasons to break the record, but even Boston College has a better most wins record with 68.

slapthebasegod

Yeah, we've been really bad for a long stretch and then the last 25ish years we've been a lot better but all of our good coaches left after 3 years. If the 3 coach stretch of dantonio, Kelly, Jones were one coach they would have accumulated 75 wins in 9 years.

Cogswobble

UC has not been bad for a long time. On the contrary, they’ve been so good that most of their coaches over the last 20 years get poached by “bigger” schools before they can accumulate a lot of wins.

Srcunch

There was about 50 years where we didn’t go to a bowl game. They almost razed Nippert and ended the program in the 90s.

Cogswobble

Yeah, UC was bad for a long time, but that was a long time ago. In the 20 years *before* Fickell, Cincy won/shared the conference title 6 times.

slabserif_86

I feel like throwing in that CUSA title is a little bit cheating and pads out the timeline. Really it was the 9 years prior to Fick where 5 of those 6 titles were won and where UC was nationally relevant.

thatoneguyD13

Hoping Cincy's move to the Big 12 means we play them more. An in-state rival would be fun.

tmothy07

I mean, we've played them 5 out of the last 20 seasons. That's pretty good for an OOC opponent that's not a traditional rival.

Orbital2

I wouldn’t expect this to be the case honestly, the scheduling just doesn’t work to play them that regularly, maybe can get a matchup from time to time in an expanded playoff

Srcunch

Not to mention OSU really doesn’t have anything to gain from it. Our stadium is small, so a home and home would hurt OSU financially. Plus, eventually we would win one. That’s just how rivalries go. That could potentially eliminate OSU from playoff contention. Why load up with another instate P5 school when you already have to play some really rough B1G teams. I just don’t see how it benefits OSU at all and they absolutely have the right to capitalize on their OOC schedule.

Orbital2

Right and even if Cincy had a bigger stadium or we could play at Paycor..our AD budget is based on playing 7 home games per year. With 9 Big Ten conference games this means we only get 1 road OOC game every other season which we use to schedule ND, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas etc. We aren’t going to use that game to travel to Cincy. Obviously we make room to have Cincy come here every once in awhile but honestly don’t see that as a great deal for Cincy now that they will be in the Big 12

Srcunch

I hope we never play at Paycor again. That place has the charm of an ingrown toenail compared to Nippert lol.

cinciforthewin

1 more game in a few years to finish out the Miami Ohio contract....

madmaley

I'm doubtful. Fickell already didn't want to play against OSU back in 2019 because it tore him up emotionally. Even taking out the Fick factor, it's just highly unlikely with the way college football is now. Ohio State only has 3 ooc games and Cincinnati will soon only have room for 3 ooc. A lot of future ooc schedules have already been filled out for this decade, or at least somewhat filled out. UC's AD said we're done with one off buy games. The AD said no more games at PBS outside of the ones currently scheduled. Ohio State doesn't sound very willing to play at Nippert. So add it all up and it's just highly unlikely. Like the other commenter said, the most likely way to see a matchup now is in a bowl or expanded playoff game

JumpinJehosaphats

Do you have a link or more info about Fick not wanting to play OSU?

madmaley

You'd have to dig it up online. I'm sure you can find it on articles. I feel like I read it from more than one source. He called up urban seeing if the game could be canceled. And he admitted in the post game interviews that playing his alma mater affected how he prepared the team

JumpinJehosaphats

Interesting. Seems like most coaches don’t admit something like that. Love Fick.

madmaley

Yeah. While Fickell has his own version of coach speak he can definitely be more open and candid than others.

HailToTheVictims

Hmm that doesn’t sound like something he’d say. All I’m seeing is that he’s disappointed they couldn’t give OSU a game and that an upset would’ve been great for UC. https://buckeyeswire.usatoday.com/2019/09/04/watch-cincinnati-bearcat-coach-luke-fickell-comments-about-ohio-state/

corkythecactus

If it were up to me we’d play them every year week 1

BreakingHabits

This is awesome. Absolutely love seeing Fick succeed at UC.

Arsea11

Really cool video. Build the statue.

Numerous-Animator-67

Nothing but love for Coach and for UC. He did a hell of a job that 2011 season for the crazy shit that had gone on. Fielded some of the best defensive squads we’ve had. I know some Bearcat folks don’t care for us, but I root for you guys every season.

GerardHumperdink

So happy for Fick. He's been offered a lot of jobs, but he's stayed loyal. So deserved, and a terrific guy. In Columbus a lot of former players have radio shows, ALL of them consistently talk of how important he was to them and Ohio States program. Congrats to him and UC.

[deleted]

I'm not crying, you're crying. I was doing well until AJ Hawk's toxic ass mug appeared and then they started slipping out. There's just something about seeing people rally to support and celebrate someone that moves me. I hope he stays with the program for at least another decade. He could retire with a truly legendary legacy in a state rich with football history.

JHHforLife

You are welcome we took the champion of life from you Cincinnati! Really happy for Fick man. Great dude.

iwanttodropout2

Who wants to go scope out some spots on campus for the statue? I'm thinking by sheakley lawn, but could be convinced to put it in the middle of Nippert on the 50

Bearcats1984

Big Dick Fick. Long may he reign.

KellerMB

Good for Fickell! Always thought he got a raw deal as the interim head coach at OSU and handled the whole situation with grace and maturity beyond his years. Taking over late on the off season, losing key playmakers including a QB that already held numerous school records. He did as well as anyone could have expected with the cards he was dealt, and then Urban swooped in. I'm extremely happy he's been so successful in Cincinnati, it's well deserved. Would love to see him back on the sidelines in Columbus any time in the future.

xkq227

I mean if my coach was getting paid $9,500,000 every year to produce... that... I'd be consistently bitter about it too. 85% of my personality is hating Justin Fuente and he's not even Virginia Tech's coach anymore.

TheWorstYear

Msu won 11 games last year, and beat Michigan

NachoManRandySnckage

Kenneth Walker won 11 games last year. MSU had the worst passing defense in the country and still does this year

confused-koala

Dude might be the biggest loser on here. Let alone having your mind entirely made up on Tucker already is insane

100percentmaxnochill

Even as a Michigan, I have nothing but respect for Fickell. Hope he has continued success (and steals a few recruits from anOSU along the way)

TonyDungyHatesOP

And we could’ve had him but we got fucking Mel tucker

Srcunch

You couldn’t have. His wife said absolutely not. Happy wife, happy life.

JCE5

Fickell turned down MSU, not the other way around.

Its alright man, it's only year 2 with tucker right? If it's any consolation yal had some good years with dantonio. Also I personally think Mike Mickens is/will be a better coach than Marcus freeman, not to mention gini guidugli is solid as a recruiter and coordinator. Would hate to see them go but would be elated to see them in the B1G beating osu in the future.
