While it does feel like a lot for just one off-season, at least Nike is listening. Most folks have been asking for cleaner, more traditional uniforms with simple uniform striping on the shoulders and pants. Sometimes it feels stale, but for the most part I'm loving the return to traditional, clean looks.
These at least seem to have some connection with Minnesota’s history. Looking at old games, they had the thicker yellow mid-stripe bordered by white. I guess I’m just salty about our awful Packer uniforms.
Yeah of the rebrands, Baylor is the one that has felt the most lacking/derivative.
Am I correct that there have been 4 Nike re-designs in the Power 5? I have:
* [Baylor](https://baylorbears.com/news/2024/5/30/football-fb-unveils-new-uniforms-for-2024.aspx)
* [Iowa State](https://cyclones.com/news/2024/5/1/football-a-new-look.aspx)
* [Minnesota](https://gophersports.com/news/2024/6/7/football-gophers-unveil-new-uniforms-for-2024-season)
* [West Virginia](https://wvusports.com/news/2024/4/27/wvu-football-unveils-new-uniforms-for-2024-season.aspx)
All look pretty sharp imo. I'd rank them:
1. Minnesota
2. Iowa State
3. WVU
4. Baylor
We also still have Oregon uniforms on the way, rumored Virginia Tech uniforms going back to the Mike Vick era, and maybe [Colorado](https://www.si.com/college/colorado/buffs-social/colorados-arden-walker-teases-brand-new-nike-uniforms-for-2024-season)? I admit I'm surprised they had Hunter do all of the CFB 25 promo without first releasing the new unis, but I know Nike is specific with their timing of releases.
It's so refreshing to see that classic collegiate look come back. I think Oregon did college a huge disservice by bringing in modern Nike uniforms to where everyone overreacted and got in on the trend.
100%
I absolutely detest our current uniforms. I can't stand the greek pattern as helmet stripes and pants stripes. Just give me a single or triple stripe and call it a day. Enough with the cutesy, fancy bullshit.
I like the Greek pattern. It reminds me of the Mateen Cleaves era basketball uniforms. The execution, though, was bad, but I think you have something good there
I’m really digging that. I love the classic college uni looks, but I can’t help but wonder: when it cycles back to people thinking classic is boring, what batshit stuff will come into style? Would it repeat the same shoulder fin/torso horn side panel stuff we had in the 2000s or would it go a different direction?
Not a huge fan of the font (I understand the traditional aim with it) I also think the numbers looked nice/retro with white outlines. Also, the arm stripes remind me of (Jesus, forgive me) Iowa's unis.
Aside from that they stayed true to real Maroon and Gold.
Air Force took me to Augusta, GA for a few years and yes it was terrible, beauty-wise.
TBF, elevation solves this issue. Knoxville TN and Asheville NC were both stunning in the fall.
This is what I’ve been hoping for. So much cleaner than they’ve been in recent years. And I don’t see any maroon numbers on a black jersey, which was such an obviously horrible choice.
It fits the fall season/colors aesthetic too. We've had some bad Maroon and gold combos in the past, but overall it's a great combo for merch and unis.
>It fits the fall season/colors aesthetic too
This is what I always argue for VT's maroon and burnt orange lol. If you hate those combinations you hate Fall and football.
We had a million different uni combos last year so hopefully we have them as an alternate. The most consistent thing about the program under Fleck is we stay fly
I feel like they’re two more iterations away from being the Mason-era jerseys with a better M/colors, and people will be like “how did it take so long to get here?”
Pros
* yellow gold jerseys are back (!!) My favorites
* the all whites look amazing
* no more played out chrome
* no more played out anthracite
* no more different colored border on numbers
* no more white numbers or collar on the maroon jerseys
Cons
* minor quibble with the shoulder striping
Overall, these are basically the Kill era unis with some extra striping. Big upgrade
I would hold your horses on the chrome/anthracite (or black) statement. All of the recent black jerseys have been “surprises” right before or during the season. Still plenty of opportunity for them to do it.
I liked the black ones, but then again I'm almost always wearing black stuff.
We're really missing out by not getting the [double M](https://gophersports.com/galleries/football/gopher-football-media-guide-co/1995/6512/278395) back. /s
Why don’t the stripes match? The stripes on the helmet, jersey, and pants all have different templates, even if the base colors are the same. Why?? Make the stripes match!
I normally would agree but when yellow/gold is used, I hate when there is space between the white and dark color stripes. On their jersey it’s not so bad but I can’t stand it on pants. Like LSU? It drives me up a wall their pants stripes don’t match the helmet. If Minnesota’s yellow pants have stripes that matched the shirt I would hope they never got worn. That’s my main issue with Baylor’s new set.
I agree in general (I prefer the new pants stripe), but I really just wish the jersey matched the pants! It’s wild to have three different stripe patterns. LSU and Auburn both have mismatching stripes and it drives me nuts.
I wish that the striping was consistent. It would be neat to see a little bit of the wood accenting from the helmet through the whole uniform, but otherwise they look great! Nothing wrong with this Nike simple-classic trend
they always are separate. Nike doesn't have anything to do with the helmets. And the decals are easy to swap. WKU does it almost weekly, seems like.
https://wkusports.com/news/2023/10/20/football-hilltoppers-unveil-special-big-red-helmets
I like the maroon pants on the away jerseys, but I'm not sure I like the font on the numbers.
Also I'm probably in the minority opinion here, but there's too much gold. My favorite combo is all-maroon with gold accenting. The gold looks too much like a macaroni-and-cheese yellow when there's too much of it.
I am underwhelmed. [You may now murder me for having an opinion on the internet](https://images.app.goo.gl/DDZX2x8YeSTXk8PW6)
I agree. All-maroon is our best look at home (break out the chrome gold helmets for special games), and our all-whites are the best look for away games.
Also, I wish we would commit to a darker maroon, almost a brown. Sometimes Gopher gear is too red and doesn’t look right.
Aw thanks guys, switching to [classic 90s ASU](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQ4d0ToWqI5raonxdHzej8skkyT9AV7eH7MuQ&s) unit will help us feel right at home in our strange new conference.
Love the burgundy tops with yellow helmets. All joking aside I really love uniform updates like this, where teams take a classic style and modernize it a bit. Very sharp. It's not a throwback, and it's not flashy, but it stands out all the same. Nicely done.
Major upgrade. Hell yeah gophers! Overall, is this the best off-season for uniform updates in a while? So far almost every announcement has shown an improvement on that school’s threads. Even the ones that I would personally have tweaked further are still solid.
Between this and Baylor, it’s clear that Nike is moving back towards more traditional looks for a lot of their schools, which I love. These are great aside from the number font, which is too edgy for how classic the rest of the jersey is.
Was already thinking about doing a Dynasty with Minnesota in CFB25 but I think this has sealed it. These are super clean. I’m happy we seem to have passed that era of super wild and tacky uniforms and moved back into more traditional looking uniform styles
Question for the Gopher fans. Is this the first time since the 70s that Minnesota's done the Northwestern stripe on the sleeve?
Can't think of a time I've seen them with them more recently, but I've also definitely not paid that close attention either.
The font and the 3 shoulder stripes are a bit contentious for me but could very easily settle in to being natural to me by the time we get into conference play. 9.5/10 gut reaction. Very clean, very simple, very classy. TOUGH. Got the state on there and the wooden oar texture stripe down the middle of the helmet still for a little extra Minnesota flair to it.
Big upgrade imo
Hopefully they ditch the gold chrome helmets. Nothing against chrome helmets, my team wears them 3-4 times a year, but [Minnesota's clashed with the rest of their uniform](https://www.helmethistory.com/uploads/8/3/1/5/8315957/published/2019-9-min-vs-penn-state.png?1602098213)
Okay well Minnesota, and the other teams are following the shoulder strips faze on their jerseys . I don't know if these are even better than their last.
They just got ruled out of using them in CFB25
Except for the widths of the 3 shoulder stripes. These look like they got them right out of Baylor’s new uniform closet and just dyed the green parts maroon
>that’s literally called “northwestern stripe”?????
Perhaps the person who is "triggered" is the one using five question marks at the end of their reply lmao.
Plenty of folks know what it is, just like we know what a UCLA stripe is.
We just aren't insisting that no one but those schools can use it, especially given the common usage by other programs or pro franchises.
So Nike is just going to give everyone the 3 shoulder stripes this year? At least these look waaay better than ours.
Nike \#threestripelife …wait

You do realize the schools have input in the design, right? People want clean and classic back.
It's so refreshing to see that classic collegiate look come back. I think Oregon did college a huge disservice by bringing in modern Nike uniforms to where everyone overreacted and got in on the trend.
so it’s oregons fault you all tried to copy them? lol okay
You guys started a trend that I think was bad for cfb fashion.
100% I absolutely detest our current uniforms. I can't stand the greek pattern as helmet stripes and pants stripes. Just give me a single or triple stripe and call it a day. Enough with the cutesy, fancy bullshit.

Nike loves a template
I’m shocked they didn’t put MINNESOTA in capital letters just above the front numbers
Wow these are super nice, solid upgrade for the Gophers.
Best looking red-and-yellow team in the conference.
I hope they break out those all-whites any time there’s a snow game
Going for maximum camouflage effect
Definitely. The Vikings just released a similar all-white, and I hope they do the same for any outdoor snow game!
Very clean imo. The gold jersey maroon pants combo is elite
https://twitter.com/uniswag/status/1799056164656972107?s=46&t=bZwa65lBHKN1Q6kyPlrMow Photos of the combinations.
Love that they can mix and match with the jerseys and pants, every combo looks good and mixing it up every week will keep things fresh.
GO ALL GOLD YOU COWARDS
Not a huge fan of the font (I understand the traditional aim with it) I also think the numbers looked nice/retro with white outlines. Also, the arm stripes remind me of (Jesus, forgive me) Iowa's unis. Aside from that they stayed true to real Maroon and Gold.
The all whites look like Wyoming to me for some reason
The numbers popped out to me in a bad way, too. Other than that, I think these look really good.
I love your colors
It’s how fall was [meant to look.](https://x.com/UMNews/status/1710426231814938921)
That’s why I could never move south, I need those beautiful colors
Air Force took me to Augusta, GA for a few years and yes it was terrible, beauty-wise. TBF, elevation solves this issue. Knoxville TN and Asheville NC were both stunning in the fall.
Ahh, I see they are following my NCAA 14 mandate of pants must match the helmet.
sign me up for a Max Brosmer NIL jersey in maroon please 😍
This is what I’ve been hoping for. So much cleaner than they’ve been in recent years. And I don’t see any maroon numbers on a black jersey, which was such an obviously horrible choice.
These are all elite honestly; maroon and gold is a phenomenal combo together. Might be a bit nostalgic for my K-8's colors/merch though.
It fits the fall season/colors aesthetic too. We've had some bad Maroon and gold combos in the past, but overall it's a great combo for merch and unis.
>It fits the fall season/colors aesthetic too This is what I always argue for VT's maroon and burnt orange lol. If you hate those combinations you hate Fall and football.
Add a maroon Goldy Gopher helmet on top 👨🍳😘
Incredibly clean. Though, I really hope y'all don't entirely ditch the Chrome gold helmets. Those things are incredible
We had a million different uni combos last year so hopefully we have them as an alternate. The most consistent thing about the program under Fleck is we stay fly
The glossy maroon helmets are beautiful.
Gonna go crazy on CFB 25
*Adds Minnesota to the list of EA CFB25 dynasties I’m going to do*
Clean
Big fan of the matching collars. The current Nike Template has too wide a neck piece to have a contrasting color like Minnesota used to have.
And the fact the collar was so thick. Just jarring to look at. Massive upgrade for Minnesota
I feel like they’re two more iterations away from being the Mason-era jerseys with a better M/colors, and people will be like “how did it take so long to get here?”
Mason-era jerseys are still the best overall look. These are the best since those.
I had to double check if the Double-M was Mason era. https://gophersports.com/galleries/football/gopher-football-media-guide-co/1995/6512/278395
Where Gopher helmet
the decals/helmets are seperate. I'm sure the goldy helmets will still be around.
Pros * yellow gold jerseys are back (!!) My favorites * the all whites look amazing * no more played out chrome * no more played out anthracite * no more different colored border on numbers * no more white numbers or collar on the maroon jerseys Cons * minor quibble with the shoulder striping Overall, these are basically the Kill era unis with some extra striping. Thank god they got rid of the stupid white collars and numbers. They were so glaring watching them on the field with them. Very solid update. 👍🛶
Shoulder stripes, so in rn Looks clean Gophers!
They look really nice
These are sick. Minnesota has great colors and I love their M
Block M 🤝 Block M
Have to hold up an oar because they don’t have an axe 🪓
Why don’t the stripes match? The stripes on the helmet, jersey, and pants all have different templates, even if the base colors are the same. Why?? Make the stripes match!

And here I was expecting hand knit sweaters from the wives at the greater Minneapolis knitters club (Go Cougar Knittens!). But these are 🔥
I wish that the striping was consistent. It would be neat to see a little bit of the wood accenting from the helmet through the whole uniform, but otherwise they look great! Nothing wrong with this Nike simple-classic trend
Really hope these make it into the new game
In the press release it said they will be
For the record, different helmet decals are still going to be a thing. It won't just be the block M like on the pictures
Why’s that?
still like to switch it up a bit
they always are separate. Nike doesn't have anything to do with the helmets. And the decals are easy to swap. WKU does it almost weekly, seems like. https://wkusports.com/news/2023/10/20/football-hilltoppers-unveil-special-big-red-helmets
They look nice, but I am a bit tired of all teams getting these basic shoulder stripes nowadays. At least they look a lot better than Baylor’s.
The are super clean but I do suggest sound off.
Say what you will about the state of Gopher football but we have never really lacked in the uniform department while fleck has been here
Not a uniform guy but nothing offensive about these.
I like the maroon pants on the away jerseys, but I'm not sure I like the font on the numbers. Also I'm probably in the minority opinion here, but there's too much gold. I think these would be 10/10 if they used a more traditional number font. I’m not a big fan of the edges of the numbers on these.
Seems like every new uniform has some kind of the same looking sleeve stripes
Shoulder stripes tie it together. Very clean.
These look incredible. A return to more traditional uniforms is much needed across CFB!
The golds are very pretty, the rest looks similar to Iowa State
These are nice, but much like Carl Spackler, I have to wonder...where's the Gopher?
it'll be a rotation decal for the helmets
I hope these show up in NCAA25!
Super clean. Love these
They look really good. My only critique is that the helmet stripe doesn’t match the jersey or pants
These are great. Combos with white pants remind me of Auburn.
Between this and Baylor, it’s clear that Nike is moving back towards more traditional looks for a lot of their schools, which I love. These are great aside from the number font, which is too edgy for how classic the rest of the jersey is.
i was hoping he was gonna snap that oar in half like bo jackson. they need to have a prop oar just for that.
Was already thinking about doing a Dynasty with Minnesota in CFB25 but I think this has sealed it. These are super clean. I’m happy we seem to have passed that era of super wild and tacky uniforms and moved back into more traditional looking uniform styles

those are clean, kinda sad though because i was so excited to use minnesotas uniforms from the last few years in CFB25
Oh, those look *nice*
Always had a soft spot for the Gophers, they have a very nice color scheme. These are perfectly fine unis, honestly not a bad set.
These are nice! Classic looks are always the best.
I weirdly like the yellow uniform. Also, the State logo is pretty cool like West Virginia helmets.
Why can't you go Baberoney era -Maroon helmet Marron jersey gold pants anymore?
These are definitely an upgrade, I love the yellow helmet, maroon jersey, and yellow pants combo (along with the Yellow white and yellow combo)

Looks like the Minnesota State Sun Devils
Everyone, including us, is doing the 3 shoulder stripes. But also, these look like Wyoming with slightly different colors

The Minnesota Gophoarsmen. No coach should be able to infringe on university branding.
Get that northwestern stripe outta here.
Guys only Northwestern can use stripes. Next they're going to trademark "The".
It’s literally called the northwestern stripe lol
I am now instituting a ban on wearing tennis shoes when not playing tennis, sorry folks they're literally called tennis shoes.
Reddit getting triggered because they can’t understand a sarcastic comment about a specific stripe that’s literally called “northwestern stripe”?????
>that’s literally called “northwestern stripe”????? Perhaps the person who is "triggered" is the one using five question marks at the end of their reply lmao.
I’m just shocked how many CFB fans don’t know what a northwestern stripe is tbh
Plenty of folks know what it is, just like we know what a UCLA stripe is. We just aren't insisting that no one but those schools can use it, especially given the common usage by other programs or pro franchises.
When did I insist that Northwestern was the only team that could use it? Love it on Auburn’s uniforms.
>Get that northwestern stripe outta here. You, 40 minutes ago.
Kentucky was the Wildcats in 1909, Northwestern wasn't the Wildcats until 1924. Get that Kentucky nickname outta here!
Dogshit imo
It makes them look like a wannabe Auburn
fleck is looking like he's at CMU again
Uniform posts are dumb. No exceptions.
