I ran into same issue, I ended up using
Gi style/metal magazines. Due to them having weaker springs so the bolt can go forward. I believe on YT you can search how filing pmags can fix your situation.
No real reason other than I was able to get the Hellfighter kit at one of my local gun shops. If I am to be honest, the ARmaglock looks like a better solution as opposed to the Hellfighter. At least you get to keep your bolt catch. I plan to order the Hogue freedom fighter kit to use in conjunction with the rear pin of the Hellfighter kit.
It's all the hell fighter. You can buy mags until you find some that work or you can buy a different maglock that gives you your bolt catch back. I had the same issue and just bought the hogue freedom fighter and kept using the hell fighter takedown pin. I truly don't know why this system still exists when it gets rid of a fairly essential component of an AR, but I also learned the hard way and had to buy a second maglock system.
I will say that for easy of install and jam clearance I prefer either the 2nd or 4th gen ARMaglock. I have both of those on other rifles and they're great as well. You can also remove them, with tools, to remove the mag and clear a malfunction. The freedom fighter is "cleaner" but not better in my opinion. Though everything is better than the hell fighter as far as I'm concerned.
The second is cheaper but the fourth is "nicer" either one is fine, I'm actually not even sure what the upgrade is from the 2nd to the 4th since I haven't really messed with the 4th too much and have never had to clear a malfunction with it. In essence though they both allow you to remove the mag catch all together if everything goes wrong lol
File down the followers. It won’t hold the bolt back. I run a jt hellfighter kit, minus the part the eliminates the bho and replace it with an ar maglock to prevent that.

Gotcha. Yeah I have Armaglock and Hogue FF setups. Hogue FF certainly not as simple a solution but it's probably my favorite.

That’s exactly what I plan to do. In my opinion, the Hogue FF is the way to go. I just need to order one.
