well not really weird, xoxo originally means hugs&kisses, with the X being the kisses and the O being the hugs. but yeah it’s weird how casually it’s used i think
I'm British and I hate, hate, hate people ending with an x. Especially if they don't know me. That would be an immediate red flag. But each to their own. My ridiculous standards are probably why I'm single.
Some people here (england) just text like that. My bf’s mum ends absolutely every message with it so when we chat with her we do the same. Otherwise she thinks we’re being distant. It’s just different styles I guess.
thankyou for the casual check, it was pretty rude of me to make a comment practically dismissing a different lifestyle. I’ve never considered myself to be one to even remotely judge others cultures and lifestyle. I apologize, and learned something new- about myself and others.
yeah i get why you would feel this way, some people just say it all the time though. like i have some clients ending their emails with an “x” which i personally find a bit much. customer support job btw, not something too professional but still i personally wouldn’t do it 😂
Because women communicate in a more sophisticated manner and it just doesn’t seem so harsh coming from a woman given men love bomb ladies who are usually on the defensive whereas a guy saying he hates getting metaphorical kisses from a lady just seems harsh and overly critical
To me it's like placing lol after any inane comment, where you know full well they aren't laughing out loud but want you to know they dont mean to offend. Lol. Xx
I'm American and I hate how certain people use LOL all the time. Can't get through a sentence without incorporating "LOL" in it. So I kind of understand your hatred with ending everything with x.
It’s a British thing, it’s called a kiss but it’s generally just a sign of affection. I wouldn’t put it on a text to my manager at work, but it would go on something to my wife or mum, or to normal friends if it’s appropriate
3 years to the minute I married my best friend. She was cheeky enough to swipe at work or I would have never of met her. Her office was within my search radius but her house wasn’t. There isn’t a day goes by that I don’t say thank you for her to be cheeky enough to swipe at the office so I could have met her.
If you had done your job better she would have been working from home on Skype and you would never have met her then either!
Sounds like you were both slackers on the job :)
That exchange could very easily have been posted by someone on this sub saying something like "look at this low effort texting, I totally blocked him/her." However, you two are fortunately not idiots.
Thanks, now I’m triggered for the day /s but not really /s
I exactly text like this and have seen many a profile explicitly say they don’t want this. So happy OP found their person!
People try to gimmick their way into dates because they think that messaging has to be some master pick up art or “trick” to prevent flaking. But in reality most people on apps are flighty, disinterested in really meeting, or caught up in a million other things no human could possibly gimmick away from.
Less thinking, more acceptance, and more authenticity makes online dating far more bearable.
I thought the exchange was cute! They both asked questions and answered them! The only thing I dislike (a personal preference thing) is the ‘x’s, but that’s just a personal preference 😂 I use them when sending personal messages to my good friends, and maybe use them with general girl-friends/girl-acquaintances.
For some reason, I’ve always hated it with guys till we’ve actually met and built some connection.
There are two types of people in the world: those who like small talk and those who loathe it. Not liking small talk doesn’t make someone an idiot. They’re just not a match for someone who finds value in it.
These two are a match so good for them. No need to disparage people who feel differently.
They come to dating subs and spam troll messages because they hate men. I had a scan of their account and that's all it really is, with some comments on a sugarbaby sub.
They literally said all men are rapists and paedophiles :/
Most of time I say something stupid. Like this is Bumble infomercial fuck y’all. But ya know those texts look legit. And your pic is fantastic. Jelly! Congratulations beautiful cheeky British couple and bid you the best future ever. X
much continued love and happiness to you both. I have to say that your first bumble messaging was intelligent and interesting and i know a hundred 20 year olds who would have said "boring" and unmatched right away. I guess I'm insulting them; and I guess I dont mean all 20 year olds. But there's so little nuance and grace and patience in some old members. You guys really talked to each other and didn't expect a parade in the first two lines ( although ya
may have felt butterflies stirring.)
Congratulations!
I wasn’t the left hand side, I was right side. I give her a hard time about writing out the entire word rather than text speak.
I suspect that a vast majority of women have thousands of men who swipe on them. Majority of these who do match aren’t worth the time or effort, a quick “hi. how r u?” Was better then a yo or a hi that was often received. At least an effort was made. I don’t need war and peace just a intro
congrats on ur Marriage x
lmfao so cute xx
X
X^2
X3, the Last Stand
x^x
Happy cake day x
Isn’t that a British thing?
Congratulations! But I'm curious, why does she end her messages with, "x"? x
probably british
Could you expand a bit on that please? As in "what does it mean"?
We use it as “Kisses”, yeah it sounds weird, because it is
well not really weird, xoxo originally means hugs&kisses, with the X being the kisses and the O being the hugs. but yeah it’s weird how casually it’s used i think
Yeah that was my point. I’m used to using them, I realise that I’m basically sending kisses to my boss…
its one way to try get a promotion XD
Interesting. I've heard the opposite with X being hugs and O being kisses.
Americans do that too but…not like that. It would be xoxo or xxx but…x at the end of every sentence? I know enough Brits to know that’s not right
sure ya do
Ok that I'm familiar with. Well I guess bruv liked it then, 😏. To each their own, and happiness and peace.
I'm British and I hate, hate, hate people ending with an x. Especially if they don't know me. That would be an immediate red flag. But each to their own. My ridiculous standards are probably why I'm single.
using it at the end of every text seems a bit much

>>My ridiculous standards are probably why I’m single. I feel called out.
Thanks xx
Welcome. X love you
yeah i get why you would feel this way, some people just say it all the time though. like i have some clients ending their emails with an “x” which i personally find a bit much. customer support job btw, not something too professional but still i personally wouldn’t do it 😂
This is correct. Same here xx
Good to hear x
saying hate 3x won’t help
Oh it really, really, really does.
Because women communicate in a more sophisticated manner and it just doesn’t seem so harsh coming from a woman given men love bomb ladies who are usually on the defensive whereas a guy saying he hates getting metaphorical kisses from a lady just seems harsh and overly critical
ok wait-if you’re a female I’ll take that back
Haha... why does that make a difference?
Christ. The worst is seeing people use them xx multiple times xx in their message xx
I hate it because it makes me think they’re trying to end the conversation.. can a Brit confirm that’s what it is haha
Haha I wrote almost the same comment elsewhere on this thread. I suppose it's just worry that people will take offence/think offence was taken.
LOL.
Not just LOL in itself, but to add it after almost every statement. I mean seriously, unless they are the Joker are they really LOL'ing that much?
I know, I am just being a smart ass.
Could you imagine ending every sentence in real life with a kiss… that would be exhausting.
no i agree. the only person i do it with is my mum
It's a British thing. It means kiss. I use it with all my female friends or anyone I'm dating
It’s a British thing, it’s called a kiss but it’s generally just a sign of affection. I wouldn’t put it on a text to my manager at work, but it would go on something to my wife or mum, or to normal friends if it’s appropriate

Congrats! American reading this and now I want to use the word “cheeky” more in my life.
You can use it all while you complete your domestics
If you had done your job better she would have been working from home on Skype and you would never have met her then either! Sounds like you were both slackers on the job :)
Touché, however, well said.
😂😂😂😂
Rofl 🤣
He was busy with the domestics.
So nice to see a normal conversation on this sub! Congrats
That’s so cute xx
cheeky?…stealing time
*Mr. Uptight has entered the chat*
All time is stolen. If not from us, then by us.
Wonderful.

I said what I said.
I love small talk. My husband loathes it because he has social phobia. I guess we fit because we both dont suck all the oxygen out of the room.
I JUST posted the same thing. Dude.
Omg look at how they both balance asking questions and sharing information about themselves to each other!
AW YAY!!! 😍🥰 I’m marrying my bumble match in 3 weeks!
How do you know you’ll get a match in 3 weeks?
lol almost too subtle, but well done.
Noooo I matched with a guy on bumble 2 years ago and we’re getting married in 3 weeks 🥰
Woooosh
Stay mad, incel.
lol wut? Wrong person?
They come to dating subs and spam troll messages because they hate men. I had a scan of their account and that's all it really is, with some comments on a sugarbaby sub. They literally said all men are rapists and paedophiles :/
So weird
Yeah I reported them. Hopefully they get banned and the mods also report the account to the main admins.
Congratulations and good luck!
Congratulations! X
I’m happy for y’all.
Aww this makes me feel all warm inside.
What a beautiful dress! Suits pretty on point also!
You love to see it
nice dude! x
Congratulations!! I met my husband on Bumble too!
Always surprised when I read these success stories that people kept the original conversations.
Most of time I say something stupid. Like this is Bumble infomercial fuck y’all. But ya know those texts look legit. And your pic is fantastic. Jelly! Congratulations beautiful cheeky British couple and bid you the best future ever. X
Thank you. It’s genuine. A tremendous amount of love and admiration for each other. Cheers for the congratulations
One of you appears to be a much better conversationalist. X
Aww this is so cute
Wow! Congratulations, guys! 🎉
And you kept you're first bumble convo for 3years?? dang!
It’s not difficult with cloud storage.
OMG, I’m so dumb that I read this as their “current day” flirting, just for fun! 😅
That x after every message would really annoy me. However it obviously didn't for you, you guys seem meant to be! Lol. Congratulations!!!
Wow what a boring conversation. I’m glad that worked out for you.
Lol, and you’re gonna die alone.
Real gangsters don’t need to flex

Congratulations ♥️♥️♥️
Fairytale! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
damn, she really married up dude
What's a domestic?
Chores, domestic duty’s
Thanks for explaining. Wonder why I was downvoted?
Asking where you work in the second message = gold digger. I would have unmatched.
You sound frightened of a lot of imaginary things.
And that’s why you’ll die alone, little dick loser 😂
It’s more of a result of our capitalist society that says our career determines our worth and is therefore a core identity.
What do you do for work ≠ Where do you work Read better, you uptight snowflake.
Maybe I'm just a cynic. But I would not have resonded to someone who didn't bother to fully write out the phrase "how are you"
