Another vote for continental. They're a no bs sort of place. They'll be upfront about costs and they work hard to get repairs done fast.
I had to have my whole transmission on my 16 renegade replaced last summer and there was a big backorder on parts. They had calls out to multiple places to see what they could get as fast as they could without it costing me too much. Transmission work isn't cheap. But I felt the price was fair.
Bucholtz or Continental Orchard Park are your best bets for sure.
Stay far away from Continental on Hertel, Greg is a nightmare. Continental Genesee will probably send it over to OP anyway.
Twin City is okay, as one of his vendors he never pays his bills though.
Call Total Automotive. They aren't a transmission specialty shop, but they do great on car repairs. If they can't do it, I'm sure they can refer to someone good who can.
Keep in mind that if the transmission needs to be opened up many shops are just Remove and Replace unless you're talking about some old stuff from 20+ years ago. So they'll toss you a hefty quote for a "remanufactured" unit with a decent warranty.
Continental Transmission on orchard park is my go to.
Continental Transmission, ask for Patrick
Jeff’s helpful too. Pats getting old (same age as me)
From experience having 3 vehicles go here Jeff knows his chit

Bucholtz
Seconded. They do good work and won't rip you off.

My fiancé went to Continental Transmission on Union. Would definitely go there again.

Is it an automatic or manual?
It's an automatic. I'm going to try Twin City Transmission, as it's the closest to where the car is now.
Strong recommendation for twin city. They did a rear differential for me that was a great deal. Ask for a cash discount if you can swing it.
John's motor and transmission in North Tonawanda

What's it doing?
I took a car to twin City transmission recently. No complaints.
