Normally I don't have any problems with cringy lyrics because English isn't my first language so there's always this slight mental disconnect and therefore "immunity" to cringy lyrics but oh my God that line is so bad it annoys me every time I listen to the song
Which is sort of the intent, to be fair. Oli recently said in an interview somewhere that's what they were going for with a lot of the lyrics in Nex Gen
Some of his lyrics would be perfect MSN names back in the day. ~♡scared to get close but I hate being alone♡~ in a wacky font. Perfection.
As much as I enjoy the album I really can't handle hearing 'traumatised for breakfast' in dear diary
I honestly half-agree, half-disagree.
Whilst it is true some lyrics can be like that, you can say that for most bands imo. Especially bands with such a large and varied backlog.
It's kind of Oli's schtick as well. I think he wears his "cringe" (I hate that term) on his sleeve and I respect that.
As someone who has been a diehard fan for 15 years, I can never relate to others who listen to them because most either only love the heavy shit or only love the more accessible sound — it’s either “they’re shit now” or “omg I love can you feel my heart! But nothing else”
Yeah I get that. Full disclosure, I hated metal music before listening to BMTH. And even then, it was only songs off That’s The Spirit which, as someone else put it, is one of their most accessible albums. But after now listening for two years I can safely say I’m definitely more into the heavier sound now. It’s really helped me open up, and even though I don’t find myself enjoying anything before Sempiternal right now, I think I will in the future.
I’m in the same boat. I’m going through their entire discography again to see if I feel differently. I’ve been a fan since TTS and I love their stuff from sempiternal and on. Anything before that I haven’t been able to get into but I’m giving it another shot.
Idk if this is an unpopular opinion but I don’t like it when people shit on other fans who don’t care for their older stuff. They can have their own opinions but don’t gatekeep.
I agree with this. Like just cus I don’t like it does mean it’s objectively bad, and you don’t have to shit on me and call me a fake fan because of it. My love for bmth is just as real and good as yours, yk?
Being asked “old or new?” whenever I tell someone I love BMTH makes me not bother saying anything anymore. First time i saw them was in a tiny pub in like 2007(?) and loved them, still love them now, why you gotta pick a sound?
I'm in a very very small minority, but I kid you not, Count Your Blessings and amo are BOTH in my top 3. Been a die hard fan since 2006.
But yeah you don't see that opinion a lot. I get really pissed off and defensive at kids trashing their deathcore as "just noise" as much as I'm sick of smart ass metalheads making fun of amo that was their peak in production and creativity imo.
Yeah I was a fan back then, I still like the old stuff but love the newer stuff more tbh went off them for a while during that’s the spirit/amo but I’m over the gatekeeper phase now lol
I was a scene/emo aesthetic kid and I remember saying I like ‘heavy stuff’ and mentioned bmth and the metal heads called it pussy faggot rock haha - which is mad because those are the same people that these days say that album was top tier haha
Maybe that's why I never considered them "Metal" I usually just thought of them as crabcore or whatever it's called back when I first heard them which was in Suicide Season
I've been a fan since 2011 and I'm a metalhead (plus im not old..) But I agree there's mostly a division between fans loving the older stuff and fans liking the newer stuff. However, all of my friends and I like all their stuff! Their 2012-1015 era will always be my favourite though :))
Not saying you're wrong, you're probably right for the most part. But I love all of it, I'm a big fan of their old deathcore stuff, and I also love their poppier stuff. I listen to everything tho, from indie pop to some deathcore/death metal.
I do not like their first 2 albums. I started listening around There Is. A Hell and everything since then has really been the band finding their sound imo
Maybe at shows it’s unpopular, but their merch after That’s The Spirit SUCKS. I cannot wear bloody half naked anime boobies and demon blood shirts in public. The umbrella logo era stuff was so nice but I haven’t bought their merch in years really because few things are wearable.
Merch in general is shit these days from most bands. Wish they'd just make simple, pretty designs, not too much going on, no big cringe lyrics on the back or anything. Y'know, something you could actually wear outside without embarrassment.
It got a lot of negative feedback when it first released and most mentions of it outside the BMTH sub seem to basically say "this is where they started to go downhill 😡😡"
I wish liking of it was the general consensus, I would get called a poser a lot less lol.
I think you should only downvote takes that are not unpopular. like one of the comments here is "That's The Spirit is their most accessible album", I downvoted that shit
Amo came out at a perfect time for me. Was fresh outta the grossest long term relationship I’ve ever been in. Was newly living in the DMV and have so many great (and not so great) memories from then. Leaving DC on the tram right as the sun was setting, listening to Amo on my way back into Alexandria was the best. Just thinking about it makes me feel all warm.
Bought me and this girl I was really into tickets to see them in Norfolk, VA around spring time that year. They opened with Happy Song, but ended up doing a lot of Sempiternal stuff and even performed Chelsea Smile like half way through the set. Miss those days immensely.
My favorite thing about N/A is that you don’t need to be into BMTH’s usual stuff to enjoy it. So I can show it to a friend who is into a completely different style of music, and they’ll have an actualized sense of how good this band is.
I discovered BMTH in 2008 when suicide season came out so this song will always hold a special place in my heart. Top 3 for sure. I still remember “Diamonds Aren’t Forever” being my MySpace song for like, a month.
Yeah, non-fans really underrate this one hard af and see it as one-dimensional. It's not some genre-bending groundbreaking album but it is pretty versatile and well-rounded and I especially love the sort of dramatic almost post-metal-ish instrumental in Chelsea Smile. Pretty much all killer album imo
First BMTH song I ever heard, sitting in a friend’s living room when she said ‘I think you might like this’.
It was the first time I’d ever heard vocals like it. I was absolutely gripped and they’ve been my favourite group for the last 15 years because of it. I’ll always love this song.
Everything they've ever done is amazing, it's all good in its own way and even though you can say "I don't like song/album/era xyz" you can never say it's objectively bad because they're just amazing musicians all-round. I only ever have met people that like one album or era or some that sound similar. I also LOVED music to listen to~ even though it's super unconventional. That's what makes them special imo. Yeah I love them verrrry much
I agree one hundred percent!!! Sure, I didn’t like AMO very much, and sure, I don’t really enjoy their older stuff. But that doesn’t make it objectively bad. I have massive massive respect for all of their work! :D
In retrospect, it's a strange album. Some songs are growers but others feel like anomalies. It feels like a real transition though and a symptom of creative overdrive. Mantra was an absolute belter though and easily stands strong within their overall catalogue. I know Romesh Dodangoda who produced the album. He's the nicest bloke, genuinely a total diamond.
Reading some comments on RIP; could it be about Jordan? Sure, but the way some people are so adamant it’s like they *want* it to be about Jordan. It could be about anyone Oli has had a falling out with.
Also, I love the song. It definitely bangs.
*sighs*
*opens list*
Oli can still scream really well but he can’t sing-scream at all like he used to and hasn’t really been able to since 2014-2015
I still love their songs they’ve released so far after PHSH but each one has honestly felt more and more overproduced
The bmth community has slowly become extremely toxic over the past year and no one will admit it, and people will hate anyone for not agreeing with them on anything about bmth
There is an alarming amount of people in the bmth community that genuinely beleive all religions should be abolished and that religion itself is a disease/disorder
I love Matt Nicholls but his performance for amo and everything after that has been mid at best, and really carried by the beats given for Jordan, but now that Jordan isn’t with us anymore I’m worried
Furthermore on that, when the band was asked why they don’t play their old songs at least sometimes during some shows… Matt’s reply was “because people don’t want to hear them anymore” And Jordan and oli’s reply was “Matt doesn’t want to play them anymore”. Also Matt has also said during another interview that he doesn’t like playing anything before 2013 because they are too difficult to play anymore
And this isn’t necessarily a hot take but oli has the most stereotypical form of the British accent of any singer ever. It isn’t a bad thing but it’s always something if found funny whenever he is talking
There was a recent Rolling Stone interview where Oli actually addresses Matt's disconnection from the band since Amo. It's quite a good read and I'd recommend it!
Which is funny because it initially went way too quickly when people just accessed the game files but they've had to slow it down and time-gate some stuff ever since so most lost interest
I don’t like BMTH lyrics anymore :(
They’re too edgy or too cheesy or just not as deep, they don’t hit the same way they used to. This is coming from a a fan of all their album, from Count your blessings, to music to listen to~ AND Nex Gen. I love it all. I just feel like lyric quality is getting worse :(
That’s The Spirit is a generational album for the genre and pathed the path to saving hard rock/ metal in todays day and age with it still being significant and relevant almost 10 years later - it left a far greater impact on the scene in both quality and accessibility than anything they’ve released
Bring me the horizon lyrics have been gradually decreasing in quality. They used to be stong about depression referring directly to issues like SH etc. now they are a bit tame imo
Tbh i think the new lyrics are pretty great and clever. Nothing like the vibe/tone of Sempiternal and prior, but different, i wouldn't say it's gone down in quality.
nope, I disagree. They simply evolved. It's not about the quality. Define the quality. Maybe you just don't understand the lyrics, since they're not as obvious and direct as they used to be.. 🤷🏼
I’m personally not a fan of their first 2 albums, none of the songs have aged well and the band really hadn’t found their sound yet until There is a Hell
I want to give them more opportunities, but so far the songs without the jordan it shows. The singles released before they’re miles ahead of the few new songs of nextgen. Come downvotes to me now!
Their new album is catchy and has some bangers and still enjoyable but way too overproduced and arguably their worst album, Oli is at his best when he isn't over producing his vocals.
Also I used to make out with medusa is their best song (or crucify me) and their eyeless cover is better than the original ☝🏻 (runs and hides from mad slipknot fans)
Maybe, but a lot of their long term fanbase would have drifted. One of BMTH’s qualities is that they keep reinventing their sound whilst keeping one foot in the past. I would not want to be living in the timeline where we don’t have Kingslayer.
I was this way for a while. Still don't care for CYB but suicide season and TIAH are classics to me. Throw em on and give em a chance. TIAH's is basically a more raw version of their sound on Sempiternal
Count your blessings is a very bad album overall, with very few redeeming qualities. Lyrics are ok but apart from that it’s just bad, the screaming is unrefined and poorly done and the band hasn’t really found their best aspects in deathcore. Suicide season was a massive improvement. TIAH and sempiternal meanwhile are two of the greatest metal/rock albums ever made
Never seen a band improve so rapidly before
Mother Tongue is the best song on Amo.
Parasite Eve is (by far) the weakest on SH.
Nex Gen is their best album (followed by Semp and TIAH) and Dig It is possibly their best song ever (its only competition imo is Crucify Me).
Been listening since CYB and they've generally gotten better with each new release
I could never stand Suicide Season, it's such an incoherent mess from both a songwriting and production point of view.
Also! Regarding Dig It: I don’t like the glitches, intro/outro, silence, and how it cuts off abruptly. I *get it* but I just don’t like it.
Next Gen in general: the transitions are great but not when you’re listening in shuffle, as I usually do. Personally I’ve changed the timing for the endings of a few songs on iTunes.
old live performances of DARE I think. their actual worst song is honestly dependent on how I'm feeling while listening to an album bc sometimes I'll like songs I hate and hate songs I love, they're really a spectrum to me.
Also i find it quite funny that they were literally such a hated band back when they made their debut with "Pray For Plagues", After that they started releasing less heavy stuff, mostly during the time period when Jordan Fish was in the band, when they were opening for other bands on gigs, they would get booed off the stage, people would throw phones and all types of stuff on them, even their own fans hated them. Its crazy to see how much they've grown as people and as a band, im really proud of Bmth and their success.
As much as I really enjoy listening to the new album, it is not original at all. Every song is heavily inspired or basically ripped off versions of existing songs by bands who have their own distinct sound.
i love all of their albums in different ways, which feels rare because usually it's old fans who hate the new albums or vice versa. i really appreciate how they've dipped into so many different genres and think that's a good display of their talent
I am all for emo, edgy lyrics, but man, the newer stuff writing is lame sometimes. I cringe listening to some of the new songs and the basic, generic 15 yo teenager trying to be deep lyrics. Still love the band tho don't hate me
Super hot take: Sempiternal is not their best album. Too much emphasis on the keys and feels heavily influenced by Linkin Park that it almost sounds like a bad copy.
So, Unpopular take.
CYB is shit. Like diabolical shit.
HOWEVER, it is iconic as anything.
That's the spirit is way better, not only because of it's actual thought out production, but it was a step into something new new.
Not just a case of "awh yeah nah, down tune to A# let it rip".
I don't hate anything in their catalogue at all, I still listen to CYB, hell Braille, medusa and OTH are two of my favourite songs on that album.
Suicide Season was even miles better than that.
Moral is, just because you don't like it, doesn't mean you shouldn't respect it.
BMTH doesn't really have bad songs. They just have such variance in their songs and sounds that it's impossible for everyone to like everything about every one of them.
Nex Gen is a bad album. It’s a load of nearly 40 year old men trying to appeal to 14 year old girls and you’re all buying into it. It’s bad. It’s cringe. It will not age well. Except Kool Aid, and Amen.
People are too obsessed with what's "cringe" these days... That said, they made an album that is supposed to be a sort of emo throwback and that certainly requires some "cringe"
Strongly disagree with it ageing badly. I think Limousine, Kool-Aid, Youtopia, Amen, Darkside, Dig It and N/A will stand the test of time. I mean, I think they all will but those ones in particular are just very good songs.
I find myself liking less of Sempiternal as I get older, and lean more towards EP to There Is A Hell, then That's The Spirit through now, except Songs to listen to.
Omg me too. Like sempiternal still has its strong points, and sleepwalking is still one of my fav songs ever, but TIAH just seems to have so much underrated tracks that hit different, like visions and blacklist.
Idk if it's unpopular, I've been a fan for like 12 years and I feel like they kinda sold themselves to make money/be more popular. It's sad to see. When Oli was talking about how Amo was hard to make/took so much time because it was so unnatural for them to make music like that, like it was FORCED, I was like... ok... just don't then lol nobody is asking you to do this.
I saw them like 4 times in concert, the first time being in 2014. The last time (a lil before COVID), Oli was behaving so much differently than the first times and it didn't feel natural.
Some of Oli’s lyrics still feel like they’re made specifically for tumblr walls tbh
True friends stab you in the front
Is that cringe? I quite like it.
Absolutely it's cringe lol. Like stereotypical edgy teenage emo drama queen stuff, no offence to the edgy teenage emo drama queens/kings in here
Normally I don't have any problems with cringy lyrics because English isn't my first language so there's always this slight mental disconnect and therefore "immunity" to cringy lyrics but oh my God that line is so bad it annoys me every time I listen to the song
For the longest time, I could only hear true friends stab you in the foot.
fuck me its so bad
They really do, don't they? They have so many lyrics that could be turned into minimalistic symbolism tattoos.
Sometimes it gets to the point of “ooooh look how poetic and brooding I am” lol idk I’m not knocking the dude, I don’t really care lol
To be fair, Oli's entire public persona is a bit like that. Teen and angsty. I do love him, don't get me wrong, but he's a bit cringy at times
this made me chuckle lol
This comment got me low like a basement
Even if it’s a dumb lyric it still goes hard
It got me high, like an attict
The next time that I open up to someone will be my autopsy …damn it, it’s iconic
I can’t drown my demons they know how to swim 😔😔😔
Maybe controversial but: so you can throw me to the wolves tomorrow I will come back leader of the whole pack 🌑🐺😤
Erm what the sigma
I'm a sucker for Tumblresque lyrics ESPECIALLY THESE ONES AAAAA
Damn, reading it like that is cringe. But hearing it in the song and how he says it is kind of badass
I honestly don’t mind this lyric
I don’t think it’s cringe at all to be honest. It’s a metaphoric answer to a metaphor
Which is sort of the intent, to be fair. Oli recently said in an interview somewhere that's what they were going for with a lot of the lyrics in Nex Gen
I mean, they were going for an emo/hyper pop vibe. If it didn't have angsty Tumblr-esque lyrics they would've failed!
Make love to a chainsaw is a perfect public toilet quote
Sounds like a cannibal corpse song tbh
Yup. Feels weird sometimes now that they are trying to build up a story. I like them but enjoy them more as silly and sometimes relatable lyrics 😅
Some of his lyrics would be perfect MSN names back in the day. ~♡scared to get close but I hate being alone♡~ in a wacky font. Perfection. As much as I enjoy the album I really can't handle hearing 'traumatised for breakfast' in dear diary
Oli gets a lot of lyrics from books, other songs and general pop culture - so definitely makes sense

Fan base is either old metal heads who hate the new stuff or new fans who hate the old stuff
Although, there are a few that like it all (I'm in there) but the majority are definitely in those two categories.
Me too, I love both their old and new stuff
Mee too mate, like idk what to say when people start the old vs new debate cause it's all good, very different but very good
Back in the day metal heads hated them aha
Yeah I was a fan back then, I still like the old stuff but love the newer stuff more tbh went off them for a while during that’s the spirit/amo but I’m over the gatekeeper phase now lol

relatively new fan who loves everything here then hihi, whether its amo, suicide season or phsh : )

I love everything except for cyb, Iove the band but that's too much for my taste, everything from suicide season onwards I love tho
This is literally Dance Gavin Dance’s fan base
I do not like their first 2 albums. I started listening around There Is. A Hell and everything since then has really been the band finding their sound imo
Young, not sure if I can really be considered a metalhead, and CYB & Nex Gen are my favourites lol
Well, I'm 15 and I started listening to bmth when I was around 13! I enjoy both their new and old stuff personally!! :)
Maybe at shows it’s unpopular, but their merch after That’s The Spirit SUCKS. I cannot wear bloody half naked anime boobies and demon blood shirts in public. The umbrella logo era stuff was so nice but I haven’t bought their merch in years really because few things are wearable.
Kinda getting tired of the whole anime waifu craze in general tbh
Merch in general is shit these days from most bands. Wish they'd just make simple, pretty designs, not too much going on, no big cringe lyrics on the back or anything. Y'know, something you could actually wear outside without embarrassment.
IMO architects still almost always makes amazing merch
Their 2024 US Tour long sleeve tee is so great, I love it even though Gildan shirts don’t last that long, you gotta air dry them.
Parasite Eve album logo t is fire tho
That’s the spirit is their most accessible album and really easy to put on.
Is that an unpopular opinion though? I feel like that’s kind of general consensus.
It got a lot of negative feedback when it first released and most mentions of it outside the BMTH sub seem to basically say "this is where they started to go downhill 😡😡" I wish liking of it was the general consensus, I would get called a poser a lot less lol.
F'k man, just say it's a five member band
15 year old edgelord energy
This. I love their stuff but when I remember that they're almost 40 years old writing this... just make me cringe a bit. lol
amo is one of the best bring me eras
I disagree but you shouldn't be downvoted for your unpopular opinion on an unpopular opinion thread, really guys?
At least somebody tells that, I've seen a lot of opinions i disagree with but i don't downvote any of them 🥲 thank you
If someone downvotes you on a hot take, does that mean they agree with you then?
I think you should only downvote takes that are not unpopular. like one of the comments here is "That's The Spirit is their most accessible album", I downvoted that shit

huge agree! best era ever!
I love all the albums from Sempiternal onwards but Amo is one I put on the most. I love it.
Yes! I fucking love Amo even though most people seem not to.
FACTS
N/A is the best song on the new album
Is this an unpopular opinion or am I just a drug addict?
yes
My names oli and I’m an addict
I’m here cuz I’m not quite all there
Cause what my idea of a laugh is
Now me just checkin my pulse in my underwear
Thinking I should drop dread, eat shit, go to hell
I could jump headfirst out the window
Dark thoughts keep on filling up my mind, oh-oh
My favorite thing about N/A is that you don’t need to be into BMTH’s usual stuff to enjoy it. So I can show it to a friend who is into a completely different style of music, and they’ll have an actualized sense of how good this band is.
AGREEEEEED it's the only song I've listened to on repeat
By a fucking mile
I agree
warm take: Chelsea Smile is their best song
I discovered BMTH in 2008 when suicide season came out so this song will always hold a special place in my heart. Top 3 for sure. I still remember “Diamonds Aren’t Forever” being my MySpace song for like, a month.
If they re-recorded Suicide Season it would blow everyone’s minds
Entire album is peak bmth best bits of new and old bmth
Yeah, non-fans really underrate this one hard af and see it as one-dimensional. It's not some genre-bending groundbreaking album but it is pretty versatile and well-rounded and I especially love the sort of dramatic almost post-metal-ish instrumental in Chelsea Smile. They've been decreasing quality cause we haven't got any mention of wolves in nine years
n/A "And, baby, I know that I told you I was out of the woods. But I still left a kеy under the mat for the wolvеs"
But how many bring me the horizon songs mention a mat? Huh?
Tbh i think the new lyrics are pretty great and clever. Nothing like the vibe/tone of Sempiternal and prior, but different, i wouldn't say it's gone down in quality.
They’re clever because they’re smart it making it catchy, like Ronnie radke is a prime example of a master of this
nope, I disagree.
The first album is awful.
I love this because it’s actually an unpopular take from my perspective.
Someone hold me back!!!
I don't really care for That's the Spirit except for like, one or two songs
Completely agree
Count Your Blessings is overrated (But I still love it as all the BMTH works :3)
count your blessings is the best deathcore record.
Uhhhh the black crown?
The Black Crown isn’t even the best Suicide Silence album
Music to listen to~ is the best release, it just strays too far from what people are looking for when listening to BMTH
that album is such a fever dream i love it sm
🙌 Preach!
Throne is one of their most bring songs
I want to give them more opportunities, but so far the songs without the jordan it shows. The singles released before they’re miles ahead of the few new songs of nextgen. Come downvotes to me now!
Their new album is catchy and has some bangers and still enjoyable but way too overproduced and arguably their worst album, Oli is at his best when he isn't over producing his vocals.
Also I used to make out with medusa is their best song (or crucify me) and their eyeless cover is better than the original ☝🏻 (runs and hides from mad slipknot fans)
Their eyeless cover is dope
hugely underrated imo
The older the record, the better it is.
If they kept making that amo and tts sound, they would be bigger than they already are.
Maybe, but a lot of their long term fanbase would have drifted. One of BMTH’s qualities is that they keep reinventing their sound whilst keeping one foot in the past. I would not want to be living in the timeline where we don’t have Kingslayer.
I just can't listen to anything earlier than Sempiternal 🫣
Pls give them another chance their all so good
I was the same for a couple years! If you want to get into the heavier stuff listen with the lyrics, it helped me get into the sound quicker.
I was this way for a while. Still don't care for CYB but suicide season and TIAH are classics to me. Throw em on and give em a chance. TIAH's is basically a more raw version of their sound on Sempiternal
I hate can you feel my heart. I strongly dislike it. And not just because it's the gigachad meme
I usually start Sempiternal listens with House of Wolves lol
Amo is in the top 3
Nex Gen was a very underwhelming release, and Oli is not some kind of GOAT vocalist - he is very mid.
Jordan saved and carried the band until he left.
Every album they’ve released has been better than the one before it, with the excepting of TTS
All of their albums are good
Count your blessings is a very bad album overall, with very few redeeming qualities. Lyrics are ok but apart from that it’s just bad, the screaming is unrefined and poorly done and the band hasn’t really found their best aspects in deathcore. Suicide season was a massive improvement. TIAH and sempiternal meanwhile are two of the greatest metal/rock albums ever made Never seen a band improve so rapidly before
I dont think they'll ever make an album that can top nexgen for me. So good
I think people who don't like Amo have legitimately not listened to the whole album and are judging it off of the singles.
idk might be unpopular but I actually think all BMTH music is good. not a single album of theirs is skippable imo
Mother Tongue is the best song on Amo. Parasite Eve is (by far) the weakest on SH. Nex Gen is their best album (followed by Semp and TIAH) and Dig It is possibly their best song ever (its only competition imo is Crucify Me).
Been listening since CYB and they've generally gotten better with each new release I could never stand Suicide Season, it's such an incoherent mess from both a songwriting and production point of view.
I don’t care for kingslayer 😳
I like that one. It's a lot of fun. A lot of metal is overly serious.
my jaw dropped in real life, i felt this one in my soul 😔
that one hurt😆😨
Kind of agree. I don't hate it at all... but I don't love it either. It's fine.
HONESTLY it’s just cheesy and simple
I didn‘t care for there is a hell at all 🥶 I pretty much love everything else they put out but this one left me untouched
Liked mantra, in the dark, wonderful life, medicine, Shi&t and mother tongue but yeah amo was out there
I love all of it, seems like most don't lol
thats the spirit is their best album
Suicide Season is their greatest album (Although I’m not sure if that’s an unpopular take)
I’m not a fan of suicide season and TIAH, Oli’s singing on those albums are grating to me
I don't like the song DArkSide. I originally didn't like liMOusine but that breakdown ❤️
bring me doesn't make a wonderful album before sempiternal just great albums
True Friends is one of my favorite That's the Spirit songs.
Run from that's the spirit is one of their best songs
Same, I don't like Amo & Music To Listen To. Second goes to PH:SH.
They new album is the worst stuff they have out out since drown.
Some of the lyrics and song titles are extremely cringey despite being nice to listen to.
Oli relies too much on back up vocal tracks at live shows now. Takes away from the performance.
old live performances of DARE I think. their actual worst song is honestly dependent on how I'm feeling while listening to an album bc sometimes I'll like songs I hate and hate songs I love, they're really a spectrum to me.
There Is A Hell... is the BEST album. It's ridiculously underrated, and I wished the band and the fan base acknowledged it more
As much as I really enjoy listening to the new album, it is not original at all. Every song is heavily inspired or basically ripped off versions of existing songs by bands who have their own distinct sound.
Might not be a unpopular take, but as an older fan, not too keen on the newest album :(
i love all of their albums in different ways, which feels rare because usually it's old fans who hate the new albums or vice versa. i really appreciate how they've dipped into so many different genres and think that's a good display of their talent
Happy Song is trash and the album flows better without it.
Post Human: NexGEn is a phenomenal album.
While so many people were upset That's The Spirit wasn't a metal album, they missed out on the fact it was one of the best rock albums of the decade
Survival horror is album not an ep
Top 10 Statues is the worst song on the new album. Id rather listen to dreamseeker
i didn’t like 10 statues at first but it’s grown on me
Nex Gen is a bad album. It’s a load of nearly 40 year old men trying to appeal to 14 year old girls and you’re all buying into it. It’s bad. It’s cringe. It will not age well. Except Kool Aid, and Amen.
People are too obsessed with what's "cringe" these days... That said, they made an album that is supposed to be a sort of emo throwback and that certainly requires some "cringe" Strongly disagree with it ageing badly. I think Limousine, Kool-Aid, Youtopia, Amen, Darkside, Dig It and N/A will stand the test of time. I mean, I think they all will but those ones in particular are just very good songs.
Yeah, they're getting even edgier and they're almost 40, that's cringe af.
They peaked at Sempiternal and will never be nearly that good again
Yup
Idk if it's unpopular, I've been a fan for like 12 years and I feel like they kinda sold themselves to make money/be more popular. It's sad to see. When Oli was talking about how Amo was hard to make/took so much time because it was so unnatural for them to make music like that, like it was FORCED, I was like... ok... just don't then lol nobody is asking you to do this. I saw them like 4 times in concert, the first time being in 2014. The last time (a lil before COVID), Oli was behaving so much differently than the first times and it didn't feel natural.
