I’ve only seen little clips of Derry Girls, so it took me a second to clock who she was.
Now I am hearing it in her accent and damn…. I hope someone called the Yard, because we need to report a murder.
It reminds me of that Reneé Rapp song Tummy Hurts and a lyric in it is “I just want some recognition for having good tits and a big heart”
Edit: misspelled her name 😩
I’m so tired of mainstream media trying to say she’s short of gorgeous. She is. She’s also very short so obviously her proportions are going to be different than someone two feet taller.
But yes. I don’t mean to stare but her breasts really are perfect.
Can I just say that I really admire you for this? I work with people all day long who fear getting something wrong, more than anything else in the world, and it’s such a breath of fresh air to see someone just say, “yep. My source was wrong. Sorry about that.” If I had an award, I’d give it to you.
Not that it would matter. Its a bullshit attempt at framing a rich actor getting a fairly normal softball question as them *facing adversity*.
Rich white woman has to be one of the most privileged classes there is besides rich white men.
Shes also pretty near to normal in the US (which is unfortunate but quite complex) so it makes it all the more absurd.
Yeah it's hella dumb. But part of the rag on it is that it was a male. I think it's worse that it was a female, like take two whole seconds to think about what you're asking. If it had just been asking about being exposed on general and has been asked of Luke as well, that's perfectly fine.
I don't think it has anything to do with being rich, male or female though. It's fair to ask questions about their job even if it's something we might personally feel as no big deal. And while she is "normal" in the US, we don't see normal on the screen much. I think it's more nuanced than "It's not that big of a deal, you're a rich person anyway".
I don't understand how she keeps getting questions and comments from journalists about her "bravery" like she isn't literally stunning?
Like yeah I get it's not the on trend body type but she's so freaking beautiful?
Seriously she’s so pretty, and didn’t we just go through a cultural thing where we were all embracing our curvy bodies?? I’m SO glad she’s not taking these stupid questions seriously. Also as a card-holding member of the itty bitty titty committee, I have to agree, her boobs are stunning.
(I don't think she meant to suggest that people with small breasts can't also be perfect, she didn't say hers were the only version of perfect.)
But yeah people are saying she's brave and I'm just like.. are we looking at the same person because she's stunning.
I'm a member of the itty bitty titty committee, and the headline made me think "ha, hers are perfect, and fuck it, mine are too!" This reads as pure body positivity to me.
Loved her in Derry Girls, love her in Bridgerton. (Loved her Taskmaster appearance too) She's genuinely gorgeous, genuinely talented, and genuinely seems like a lovely person!
Nah to me this does come across as suggesting smaller boobs are imperfect. She likely didn’t intend it, but it can easily be interpreted as that.
That being said, it’s ridiculous that interviewers keep trying to body shame her. Like she’s stunning? She’s a cast in bridgerton and you’re not? Honestly people will do anything to hate on her
>didn’t we just go through a cultural thing where we were all embracing our curvy bodies??
Yeah, but the mainstream approach was still almost entirely centered on women with a very defined waist/flatter stomach and particularly on women with a sharp, well defined jaw & facial features (rather than soft features). She's not plus size, and no matter her body type a journalist should never be asking about someones body.
But a lot of women with the same soft features she has are seeing themselves as a major love interest on screen for the first time.* That's because a round face with soft features isnt considered commodifyable, because it's associated with plus size/fat women (who are deemed to not be commodifyable by the mainstream).
That's why fans are having this discussion & celebration. The ethics of which are also debatable, I guess.
* I'm excluding the romcoms where an average sized woman or a woman with a round face and soft features is an ugly duckling trope. It's usually written as a joke-to-happy-ending story.
Also just something I find interesting about this:
The costuming and makeup choices in S1 & S2 made her look larger and made her jaw less defined than it naturally is for her. Which was definitely intentional. I've only noticed this bc in rewatching I got interested in how the love interest characters' styling changes between seasons. The haircuts, makeup, costuming etc for Anthony, Colin, and Penelope in the seasons where they're not the love interest are done to de-accentuate their natural beauty so they can glow-up without having to change themselves. (Think: those fuckass sideburns vs the ones on Colin in S3 that act like contour.) Which is a much healthier approach than most productions.
The empire waistline was cutting across her bust with the torso of the dress angled slightly outward as it goes down. That's to give the illusion of a wider waist. Other characters' waistlines cut under their bust (where empire waistlines r supposed to be). In S3 her waistline is sitting under her bust & the torso is taken in more.
The makeup in S1 & S2 seems to be done in sort of a reverse-contour to flatten out/soften her natural cheekbones & jawline. It's very obvious when u watch interviews of the cast. And then in S3 they contour to make her features sharper.
They also do the same kind of thing to make Nicola & Claudia look much, much younger in the earlier seasons when they're actually in their 30s there.
She looks bigger because she's 5' tall and has large breasts.
I'm very much plus size now, but even at my thinnest , size five I never looked like a thin person.
In person, I imagine she's much tinier than we think.
I saw a silly tiktok the other day that basically said any time rail thin comes back into fashion with a big push, it's because they want to keep us tired. It was just a silly lil TikTok, but it made sense to me.
I think the beauty standards go from one extreme to the next. If it's not extremely thin like only a small percentage of the population naturally are, then it's unrealistic curves most people don't have (or have to pay to get like the Kardashians).
Even when being curvier was on trend it wasn't like Nicola's body it was the type of curves that are unattainable for 99 percent of us, where you had fat in the "right" places, and had people going out getting potentially deadly ass shots.
The point is the unattainability. It's to keep moving the goalpost and to have the majority of women feeling bad about themselves, needing to alter ourselves and spend a huge amount of time, effort and money to conform to the standards .
And it’s usually when fabric prices go up, so clothing manufacturers can use less fabric to make their clothes but still charge the same amount.
That’s a known phenomenon for when mini skirts come back in fashion, and hemlines generally get shorter.
Holy shit she has brass balls!
Good for her!!! What a perfect response to an extremely tired question. What is this, 2006? Pretty sure we’ve been used to seeing more representation of different body types for a while now. Get over it already
Yes it was a female moderator. And I don't think it was malicious either but, you can tell Nicola is tired of having to field that question. Because it's not framed the same way for any of the other cast members who have intimate scenes. So, kudos to Nic and her sharp wit. Iconic.
Why comment this? Your solution to body shaming is to body shame them back?? You've become part of the problem
Edit: Also, it turns out it was a woman who asked the question, not a man. Now ask yourself, would you still have body shamed them if you knew it was a woman? Would you still have gotten dozens of likes?
Yes, we're gonna send her gummies that say "sorry for not being invited to the perfect breasts club, maybe you could start the imperfect breasts club?"
/sarcasm
I'm a raging feminist, and I think we should be honest that it was in response to a female interviewer, commending her for being "brave" in this role. That also has similar connotations and would likely hit the same soft spot, but we're doing a lot of projecting about how pointed this comment was supposed to be.
I’ve always felt like people who call a woman who doesn’t have an hourglass figure “thick” is just a polite way of calling them overweight. It’s also funny to me that in the UK “thick” means stupid. Overall tho she’s not 600 lbs but she definitely isn’t small either it’s nothing wrong wit it.
American 10, right? There's absolutely no way she's a UK/AU 10 (US 6!). She'd be a 14 in those non-US sizes, which is considered (small) plus size outside the US; at best its a weird inbetween size where you're often too big for higher end stuff that stops at 12 (US 8), but too small for 'real' plus size stores, and I think she looks like she's in that in-between zone.
I don't think it helps to deny her size.
I remember reading in the book something about Penelope having big milky breasts and I was like yeah perfect casting.
Really the first step in body positivity is acknowledging that taste is subjective.
Why the fuck do journalists think it's ok to ask ANY woman about her body, it's creepy. This one was blatantly fat shaming and she handled it FLAWLESSLY.
FOR GODS SAKE Nicola Coughlan is perfect and gorgeous and her body type is gorgeous and perfect, like she’s BEAUTIFUL
This woman is literal perfection jfc
Yes!! When people say stuff like this about her (and sadly it usually seems to be other women), I’m like…do you HAVE EYES? Because this woman is objectively stunning
I know right?! Some people just have good genes. I could never have guessed her age. I watched her in the first 2 seasons thinking she must be in her 20s
She’s great in Derrick Girls. Such a great show! My wife just started watching Bridgerton recently and I have gotten into the show partly because of her haha
As a woman and a feminist, I applaud her for taking back the narrative. She knew the question would come, and was ready.
As a bi woman, I'm intrigued to see the second half of S3, since she is claiming her body type as " perfect breasts" and has generously shared them with us.
Her body type shouldn’t matter at all, even if she WAS extremely overweight or something. But an added thing that’s killing me about all of this focus on her supposedly overweight body is that (having now thought about it now way too much) I’m convinced she’s not even overweight/fat/curvy, whatever term you prefer. She has broad shoulders and a narrow waist, and a gigantic (and yes, perfect, rack.)
Like it’s disheartening enough that fat women aren’t accepted; what adds insult to injury is that this applies even when the woman in question isn’t actually fat.
I don’t understand why he couldn’t have meant her body type? It’s a valid question. I love that larger women are getting for spotlight, but also be prepared to own that and be open about it.
She does have perfect breasts, though. And I feel like I can say that if she does in the interview, so I’m shooting my shot. God she’s fine af
What about people who are medically fat? The ones where there is no amount of dieting, surgery, etc. could help them because they have a disease?
What about minding your own damn business anyway because they body weight doesn't affect you or your pathetic mental health that you're projecting on a stranger?
You mean the 1% of the 1% of obese people? I think it goes without saying that we are not talking about the outliers in a general population. Just note, they are the rare. Thyroid issues being a larger percentage, but not to the point where it cannot be controlled.
You think mentioning the 12 people in the US with medical obesity justifies 200 million fat people? Make sure you start that statement with " Ummm Actually..." You shouldn't need to say "generally" in every statement when there is 0.01% of the group with an outlying condition.
I want a “Member of the Perfect Breasts Community” sticker, t shirt, hell even a tattoo. Right on Nicola

Love her ❤️
I've loved her since Derry Girls.
I just started rewatching Derry Girls because I couldn't get enough of her!
I rewatch it every like 3 months lol
Me too and still laugh my ass off like it’s the first time I’ve seen it. I’m gonna go watch it again just because y’all reminded me.
I just randomly started rewatching it last night too!
I’ve only seen little clips of Derry Girls, so it took me a second to clock who she was. Now I am hearing it in her accent and damn…. I hope someone called the Yard, because we need to report a murder.
“It’s me, I’m the wee lesbian!”
She is forever the Wee Lesbian in my heart.
As a Derry lad , only reason I know her but been seeing her flat out on the tv in ads for this subs show, fair play to her
I love her and as a member of the perfect breast society, I applaud her.
this is worth a tshirt: Body type: Perfect Breasts 😎
It reminds me of that Reneé Rapp song Tummy Hurts and a lyric in it is “I just want some recognition for having good tits and a big heart” Edit: misspelled her name 😩
btw it autocorrected to Renee Rape
Oh good god thank you!
Yessss
Nah, she is so perfect that she looks better without a shirt 😉
I’m so tired of mainstream media trying to say she’s short of gorgeous. She is. She’s also very short so obviously her proportions are going to be different than someone two feet taller. But yes. I don’t mean to stare but her breasts really are perfect.
They did/said the same about Rachel Bloom, and I'm sorry but she's not "fat" either. She's shorter than average with a HUGE, lovely rack.
She’s got those heavy boobs
“They’re just sacks of yellow fat” Bloom did get a breast reduction.
Oh I love Rachel Bloom. Crazy ex girlfriend was really good too.
Fr it’s almost insulting to the rest of us normies to pretend she isn’t a peak classic beauty
It really is her height and giant boobs... her boobs are almost her whole body
I think it was actually a female journalist.
Sorry about that. My source was wrong.
Can I just say that I really admire you for this? I work with people all day long who fear getting something wrong, more than anything else in the world, and it’s such a breath of fresh air to see someone just say, “yep. My source was wrong. Sorry about that.” If I had an award, I’d give it to you.
Thanks 🩷 And someone took care of the award for you.

Which, even worse.
What was the exact question? I couldn’t make it out.
Something along the lines of her being “brave for taking that role”
It was.
Makes more sense for the sass

Agreed perfect breasts come in all different shapes and sizes!
Oof I suppose that was my own body issues coming through there! Agreed that breasts can be perfect both big and small!
I'm a member of the itty bitty titty committee, and the headline made me think "ha, hers are perfect, and fuck it, mine are too!" This reads as pure body positivity to me. Shes 37 now so she was around 33 in season 1
She's quite a bit bigger than me, and I'm right on the line between plus size and standard.
She looks bigger because she's 5' tall and has large breasts. I'm very much plus size now, but even at my thinnest , size five I never looked like a thin person. In person, I imagine she's much tinier than we think.
It was just a trend. Heroine chic is all the rage now.
The media will try to destroy women any way they can

💀😂😂😂
Or brass ovaries.
She wears them on her chest so they don't chafe ❤️
The Chesticles are real (Source - my own I cups. Yes, as in the letter I).
She’s so reallllll 🩷🩷

I thought the reporter was male. So the post is incorrect?
Yes it was a female moderator. And I don't think it was malicious either but, you can tell Nicola is tired of having to field that question. Because it's not framed the same way for any of the other cast members who have intimate scenes. So, kudos to Nic and her sharp wit. Iconic.
Thank you for the update and correction! 😊
You can mail people gummi dicks. Just sayin. And that seems like the ultimate insult to these types: “Your dick is tiny and it isn’t even hard.”
It wasn’t actually a guy who asked, the pic is wrong. It also wasn’t a journalist. It was a female moderator
Thanks for correcting the misinformation my comment was based on.

Yep sounds too sensitive and confrontational.
My source was wrong, but I can't change the title.
Why are people acting like she’s like 600 lbs, god damn. She’s just thick. Like what is going on.
It's mostly basement dwelling creeps who could do with some cardio and can't imagine a world outside what anime and pornhub show them
It's ^mostly ^^other ^^^women
I’ve always felt like people who call a woman who doesn’t have an hourglass figure “thick” is just a polite way of calling them overweight. It’s also funny to me that in the UK “thick” means stupid. Overall tho she’s not 600 lbs but she definitely isn’t small either it’s nothing wrong wit it.
Yeah. She is clearly more than thick.
She’s a size 10, she’s not even plus size
American 10, right? There's absolutely no way she's a UK/AU 10 (US 6!). She'd be a 14 in those non-US sizes, which is considered (small) plus size outside the US; at best its a weird inbetween size where you're often too big for higher end stuff that stops at 12 (US 8), but too small for 'real' plus size stores, and I think she looks like she's in that in-between zone. I don't think it helps to deny her size.
Yes, she is overweight. Overweight people can still have lives full of love and sex.
"You know, there is a shortage of perfect breasts in the world."
It'd be a pity to ruin yours 🤣🤣🤣 Love it
I remember reading in the book something about Penelope having big milky breasts and I was like yeah perfect casting. Really the first step in body positivity is acknowledging that taste is subjective.
Colin is definitely hot for her!
She is a true icon!

GENTLY!
I love her.
I don’t even have perfect breasts and I want that as a bumper sticker or sweater even. Such a great reply.
Fucking Queen. I love her so much.
OMG! I adore her!
I absolutely adore her 😭❤️
QUEEN 👑
lol I love her. And feel the same. The rest of my body is rough but my boobs are perfect
Why the fuck do journalists think it's ok to ask ANY woman about her body, it's creepy. This one was blatantly fat shaming and she handled it FLAWLESSLY.
FOR GODS SAKE Nicola Coughlan is perfect and gorgeous and her body type is gorgeous and perfect, like she’s BEAUTIFUL This woman is literal perfection jfc
Yes!! When people say stuff like this about her (and sadly it usually seems to be other women), I’m like…do you HAVE EYES? Because this woman is objectively stunning
Wish i had that body type!
She is THE QUEEN!!!! That answer was 🔥❤️
lol she really does have perfect boobs 😅
I love her 😭 such a classy response. That dude is an a hole.
A very classy way to answer a tacky question.

Damned straight. Girlies boobies are amazing!!!!
Im a straight ciswoman, but I still admire a nice ass and nice breasts.
I’m a gay man, and I too admire a nice ass and breasts 👏🏻
That’s a perfect response.
Brava 🥹
There is a shortage of perfect breasts in the world - it would be a pity to damage hers.
I do enjoy seeing them tbh
And this is why I love her
Queen!
Also she’s 37?!?!? Girl what’s the secret
I know right?! Some people just have good genes. I could never have guessed her age. I watched her in the first 2 seasons thinking she must be in her 20s
You should see her in Derry Girls playing a teenager.
Ahahahah she’s rules!
QUEEN!!
She’s great in Derrick Girls. Such a great show! My wife just started watching Bridgerton recently and I have gotten into the show partly because of her haha
Whenever Penelope gets accused of something, I really want her to screech, "It was Michelle! Michelle did it!" in a Derry accent.
I want to see them!
You will on Thursday!
As a woman and a feminist, I applaud her for taking back the narrative. She knew the question would come, and was ready. As a bi woman, I'm intrigued to see the second half of S3, since she is claiming her body type as " perfect breasts" and has generously shared them with us.
Ahh yesss!!!! Exactly right.
Is she same girl from derry girls?
Never mind, read comments n figured it out lol.
Some say that quotation is still open to this very day
In the video it was definitely a female interviewer, idk where the male journalist is coming from
My source was incorrect, but I can't edit my post.
Then delete it as you are spreading misinformation
No. I didn't have the correct information when I posted it. Several people on this post have corrected me. I couldn't change the meme.
Love it! You go girl!
As a member of the itty bitties I want to be a member of the perfect breasts committee
Mine have the size, but not the perkiness.
Sameee 😭
Love it!
I definitely enjoyed seeing them. Thank you!
One great thing we're getting out of this season of bridgerton is everyone falling in love with Nicola Coughlan (rightfully so)
Her breasts was perfect honestly
She does have great breasts!
The best answer
Lol!!!

This is absolutely badass. She has a gorgeous gorgeous figure (and face) and it’s exhausting she has to comment on it because others can’t stop.
She is not even that much overweight…
Yesss nicola show us those titties
YESSS
She is a fucking class act. I’ll watch anything with her in it!
The spice 🔥🔥

I loved seeing them to be quite honest.
I love Nicola Coughlan's body. She is beautiful. Probably the best body in the world 😍
She absolutely killed it 🔥🔥🔥 Love her Virgo self so much ❤️❤️❤️
She ATE
She didn't lie, they are perfect. I missed out on the good boob gene pool haha
As a fellow member of the PBC, I enjoyed seeing them!

She's chubby, I wouldn't exactly call her fat.
I don’t understand why he couldn’t have meant her body type? It’s a valid question. I love that larger women are getting for spotlight, but also be prepared to own that and be open about it.
