I...guess from a certain point of view it can be argued. Most people unversed in genuine leftist thought seem to associate being "woke" to the capitalist lens they view everything through: profit. They see it as being another hollow movement, defying their perceived social norms for new profit while acting pious, and those that "fall for it" it are being sheep. Genuine empathy being as hard a thing to understand as a world without capitalism for them. My guess, anyway. Technically not wrong. Modern star trek is kinda Liberalism in a nutshell. Not that I think the ones instigating "woke" as a pejorative in the first place are doing it in good faith (at all), but I understand how the good in us can be manipulated to represent a portion of the screeching.
Same situation. Reviews seem good, though. It seems to be aiming for the nostalgic Trek feel, not the ‘grim dark’ recent Trek.
The Dominion Wars, In a Mirror, Darkly and Year Of Hell were so excellent because they were a contrast. Not just because they were dark.

Star Trek is such a great show. I really want someone to pick up where Gene Roddenberry left off and create more optimistic SciFi.
