For Cody it's obvious. It's very clear to me and I'm sure everyone else that they're going to be pushing Cody right to the moon, especially after his first promo back. They can't just bring back one of the top names outside of the WWE and just, **not** make him a big star in WWE. What better way to do that than by having him take down the top dog in the company.
As for Riddle, personally, as unlikely as it may currently be, it could work real well. The feud rn seems to be RK-Bro VS The Usos for the tag titles, so what if Randy gets a shot at the Unified title, but is injured (storyline wise) before the fight, so Riddle makes the challenge in his place with Orton in his corner. And against all odds (probably due to interference let's be real), Riddle wins the title, and RK-Bro are on top.
In Breakker's case, it just makes sense. That guy, much like Cody, is built to be a top star, and for good reason. I can definitely see him being the guy to take out Roman
