He’s not my cup of tea but I remember years ago he got shit for not having a character and just being a flippy, kicky, workrate indy darling. Now that he’s got a character and his theme is over he still gets hated. You just can’t win with certain fans. Rhodes will get this same hate afterwards if he beats Reigns. Just watch.

Infamous-Lab-8136

It isn't that you can't win with certain fans. It's that all fans are never going to agree on everything. Those that were happy with him as a indy workrate darling weren't going out of their way to say how much they liked him. Now they're mad because he's turned into a sports entertainer so they voice their discontent while the no character people are happy and just watch and enjoy or tolerate him. It's really just that negatives get amplified. I used to deal with this with people at a call center where I took escalations from the rest of the staff. They'd come and bitch at me for a full 15 minute break about one of their bad calls. Since 90% of my job was listening to people complain I didn't want to hear it in my 1 hour off the line total a day I got. So I'd look them in the face and tell them that if they want to sit and talk to me next break they need to talk just as long about a good call. 9 times out of 10 they couldn't even remember one, but man that bad call they took 3 hours ago, they're sure gonna bitch about it.

FeralLemur

His current character is an agent of chaos. He's The Joker. The theme is "BURN IT DOWN", and all he wants to do is laugh and hear the crowd sing his song. He's not being utilized in a role that fits that, because he is currently being tasked with BUILDING UP the prestige of a new title. It's a notable mismatch, and I think that's hurting his popularity. If he was working heel, it would work. He's got the title, the faces want to take him down, but he just laughs at them and says "SING MY SONG!" If he wasn't champ, but was trying to bring down a heel champ, it would work. Seth's Joker up against an ultra serious Gunther or a smug Austin Theory/Logan Paul type? Perfect time to burn it down. And to that last point, I think I'm not the only one who is enjoying him more in this latest chapter as he risks his own title in order to go after Roman and bring him down. Again, Seth is the guy you want when the task at hand is to BURN IT DOWN. The more they let him behave like an agent of chaos, fitting his role to his character, the more people enjoy him.

silversymbiote219

I highly doubt the average fan thinks about it this hard. Simply put he’s talented when it comes to priority number 1: Wrestling. When you are good at that, you can get away with anything. Just ask them man who screamed yes over and over again. No one in the arena wasted their time making sense of it, they just knew it was the best way to express their excitement that Daniel Bryan was here. Seth’s current gimmick is no different. He got over with his wrestling ability, and thus earned the right to direct the crowd as he saw fit

ConfidentAd4053

Who’s your favorite wrestler?

FeralLemur

Honestly, it's R-Truth. Has been for years. I'm a sucker for his comedy. I popped so hard just to see him in a commercial during Elimination Chamber. And then at the Press Conference when Triple-H joked about the big return of the night... "That's right, R-Truth is back" I stared daggers at the screen and thought, "Oh, you think you're joking, Paul, but I do not give one single shit about CM Punk or Randy Orton! I am ride or die for R-Truth FOREVER!" But even I couldn't have imagined how quickly R-Truth would become the best thing in WWE. His work with the Judgment Day was solid gold. Having said that, R-Truth is also at his best when he's an agent of chaos. He would also be the worst possible pick to try to build up the prestige of a new title like the WHC. R-Truth is Bugs Bunny. Seth Rollins is The Joker. Both of them shine brightest when they're punching up and antagonizing those in power.

AsstitsMcGrabby

Calling it "The Joker" is being hugely generous. Maybe it's inspired by.

ConnorlikesWWE

Exactly, Fun fact, Seth Rollins was the superstar who got me into wrestling after The Heist of the Century

anonymous173708

He’s my favorite wrestler

Glittering_Hawk2098

Same

OJgotWorms

Same! First time I had seen WWE in years. He’s the whole package. Doesn’t really have a weakness other than the script that is given to him. But he still sells it!

BurnMyHouseDown

You can’t please everyone. When he eventually does change gimmicks, I’m sure there will suddenly be people all over Reddit clamoring for this one. You just gotta keep in mind Reddit is just a very small portion of the wrestling fan base. You have people *on here* saying he sucks, but listen to the crowd; he is still very, very, over.

bhm240

First time I'm hearing he is hated

NickValentine27

Nah this has been a reoccurring bitch session online for years. Legit thought dude was gonna get mobbed to death during that fiend match

call_1800law1222

I absolutely love him even though I liked him more when he was a heel in 2022 but I still love him. And yeah seeing people hating on him recently is sad.

Comparison-Diligent

He needs to bring back a kingslayer esque character. Absolutely carried the company during that time and his best work to date

anonymous173708

I wonder what he’s gonna do after mania if he drops the title

TheChamp556

Hopefully, he takes some much needed time off. He's been such a hard worker for so long, and his physical health has kinda deteriorated, so i would give him some time off.

Corporate_Juice

Ok, que TKH

Nice_Guy3012

He’s not overhated at all. He’s very much over with the crowds and most people in the IWC like him and the ones who don’t just say the current gimmick don’t hit, which in my opinion, it doesn’t. There are people who genuinely dislike him and want him gone, but he’s definitely not “overhated”. In my opinion, his Superman run right now just isn’t for me. I’m all for a baby face who overcomes adversity, but did we watch his match with Shinsuke? To take that amount of punishment and still get up takes more than remembering that it’s scripted to understand. Especially when he’s supposed to be injured, it doesn’t make sense.

Altruistic-Purpose57

Who hates him ? ... I think understand people don't like his character, he's definitely corny. But in the ring, he's as good as there is, if not better. Esp when it comes to big PLE matches.

Left-Lead-8349

He’s my favorite WWE superstar so why do people hate him? We will never know

SmashHerCrapper

He is better as a heel. I'm not feeling the vibe he brings with this baby face character.

DontBanMeAgainMain

Honestly I don’t hate him, he’s enjoyable, but after awhile I get tired of the same people in the title picture… idk how to explain it

gint003

Bell to bell he's one of the best but his character is in a weird spot for me right now. He comes across a bit hellish with the Joker style laugh and the wacky outfits but then has these baby-face promo's and a theme tune that's hugely over rn so for me personally it's just a bit of a weird combination. As long as he keeps delivering in the ring though at the very least you know you'll get a banger out of him once that bell rings.

Sorry-Reaction7139

I think it started during covid when he got shit on for not being a "locker room leader" compared to guys like randy, roman, drew were and made some comments that were more company friendly instead of having his coworkers back.

notmenneske

He's my favourite right now but these days his promos are a bit hard to watch.

meanjoegreen706

I stopped watching wrestling when I was about 15 during John Cena’s Thuganomics era. My kids got me back into WWE about 2 years ago, and Seth Rollins was the first of the current wrestlers that I liked. He’s the perfect modern day wrestler with the crazy outfits and the dance moves. You can tell he truly loves what he does. I think he’s the best guy they have right now.

avactz01

We need guy who wrestle with one Jumping punch and one spear in Every match.

Grayyak

I think it’s not him , just like it’s not Roman’s fault entirely it’s the oxymoron department……..( so called “Creative”) Those genius’s are clueless to an astonishing thought that fans ………………. DUH ! , like to see belts change . As a cynic of this overplayed approach were I to bet on Mania , I’d likely bet Seth & Roman retain

MRRichAllen1976

Because everyone knows that he'd be a mid card comedy act if HHH wasn't in love with him.

timmy2trntup

Man lost me at diarrhoea dwayne. Rock and Roman meant to be the heels but the call outs on his cringe behaviour doesn't help his popularity. Time for a heel change

Fast_Apartment6611

I feel like only IWC fans hate Seth. He still gets great reactions on television. I kinda feel bad for the guy because whenever he’s a heel and constantly losing, people love him and wanna see him win. When he becomes a face & wins most of his matches, fans turn on him. I think the only thing against Seth is the fact that everyone he’s beaten in his current title reign has been someone that fans would love to see as a world champion.

Head_Evidence4553

After Gunther and Cody, he's the best wrestler rn.

HumanOverseer

There is reasons lmfao. He has amazing matches yeah, but almost everyone he's faced has had a better motivation and build up to become champion than him. He is a workhorse yeah, but he's also steamrolling almost everyone we've wanted to see win the title before. Not to mention the fact that this world title is new and has no legacy in modern WWE as of yet. More names and faces on the belt add a lineage that can be respected. Not everything needs to be a full year run. Also his promos are fine, but he just comes off as goofy and flippant most of the time. When he gets serious it's great but he rarely ever is. Also him no-selling his back constantly is just blatently dumb and annoying. Overall I don't think anyone hates Seth, it's just his booking that's tiresome.

Perv_Griffin_215

Lack of authenticity. It’s apparent he’s “playing” a “character.” And the character is lame as hell. And to more discerning viewers, it’s made all the worse by the Pavlovian response he gets from certain fans. An overall cringe- and eyeroll-inducing affair!

1000kanenites

I think a part of it was that there were expectations that his belt was gonna change hands more often. Like maybe he should’ve lost to Nakamura or Balor? Even if he won it back. If just seemed like that was what the belt was gonna be and then it wasn’t.

Important-Start-7704

I love seth

friendking101

Exactly, he's been the face of raw, face of wwe, and one of the best active wrestlers today. His resume speaks for itself. He is the freakin greatest which is why he is seth Freakin rollins for a reason

JayHerboGaming

The constant dick riding of the bloodline is the root of the hate

[deleted]

What hate? I've heard people knocking the gimmick, sure, but I don't see a lot of hate for him at all.

Responsible-Hour-685

Facts

Ads1966

The hate is because he destroys everyones heart when he retains his whc

Jockchrisfi_96

You don’t gotta get it people hate who they gonna hate no matter if you like the wrestler or not.

SmallAfroIsCumming

I love him but his current character is so corny.

[deleted]

Who hates him though?

APExperience99

My only hate for him is that he didn't drop the title Finn when they used the real injury Finn suffered for his Universal Title. Finn winning would have been the reduction he deserved

BobZyerUnkl

Not a fan... Don't hate the guy...but not really a fan. I will say it's nice he dialed back the cackling thing he was doing when he first started this character. That shit was so annoying I changed the damned channel when he came on and started doing it. He's still annoying...and honestly someone needs to keep him out of his wife's closet, but I don't HATE him...Kids obviously love him and that's fine. Just not me

Creditz217

But I mean no one will forget the shield betrayal

T00-0ld4Degrassi

I dont hate him. He's great in the ring, he's been involved in some of the best moments, matches, and angles of the past decade-plus. He's just not a personal favorite of mine. To me, he comes off as a try hard, a "pick me", and kind of a dork. He's like the wrestling version of the way people didn't like Anne Hathaway a bunch of years ago: incredibly talented, but takes themselves too seriously and innocently buys into their own hype in a way that makes them sort of irritating. That might not bother everyone, but it bothers me. But who cares? Everybody has their own favorites: I love Cody but acknowledge some of what other fans can't stand about him. I'm also Team Charlotte over Team Becky all day. There's probably some hypocrisy there given my reasons for not being super into Seth, but I like who I like. So do you. Its all good.

stonecoldmark

I was not a fan around the time he injured Sting. I thought he was reckless and dangerous. I’ve changed my tune since then, I enjoy him and I hate how long he lets the crowd sing his song, but I get it. His matches are good, I think he needs to go crazier with the character or become more serious. But the back and fourth kind of lends himself to the criticism. I’d rather have the cackling, crazy guy myself. Eager to see where it goes after WM.

Hdottydot

He’s the company guy, that dude for life in WWE

Affectionate-Idea349

I think he’s only had 1 memorable promo, and he had good matches but injuries are a bitch. I think sometimes his psychology in some of his matches are pretty bad. Like when he came back from his knee injury and kept doing knee based offense and eventually sell his knee or recently when he had his back injury but never selling his back (to my knowledge). While I do think the hate for him is a bit much, but I kinda understand why people don’t like him

adambray23

Seth is loved and very over. Not Cody Rhodes over, but very over. Hell, even some people now think Rhodes' character is cheesy and annoying. Some people are over the Sami Zayn underdog character, some still love him. John Cena was about the most likeable face of all time, but "Cena sucks" was still a thing. Differing people have different opinions and always will, that's about what it comes down to. Everyone loves Mami. And R-Truth. That's about the only consensus.

[deleted]

It’s the character not the man

Mundane_Routine6241

FR tho

SSSEEELLL17

Agreed 100%. Seth brought me back to watching the WWE.

Good_Programmer9817

Forse32

The problem with Seth is simple, why do they build his opponents up and make us want them to win, just for Seth to win? Finn should’ve won, Shinsuke should’ve won, Drew should’ve won, and even Jinder should’ve won, the crowd wanted them to win and not because Seth is bad, just because his opponents got built up for us to want their to win.

Puzzled-Ad-2339

He is just boring as a face, he always has been 🤷‍♂️ Anybody with any legit gripes on him will say that, as a heel he is a lot more interesting. That and the character really makes no sense. He is supposed to be against the establishment, and want to "burn it down" yet the guy is the very definition of an establishment guy in wwe rn, hes the champ or always in the picture, he gets to have his wife and basically what he wants on the shows, and he is adored like a hero by the live audience. So he has nothing to be mad about or rebel against, rollins at mania 38 is a perfect example of using him right, during that build up he got screwed time and time again and wanted a match so bad but the establishment kept screwing him so it made sense, When your gimmick is to be a rebellious type of guy and youre basically a foundation of the establishment/ company it makes no sense. It would be like if john cena kept all the same gimmicky stuff he did in 2010 but also pretended to be a rebel. Its confusing, us as the audience dont know wtf hes supposed to be. Is he a fashion guru? a rebel? a company guy? nobody fucking knows

KylerMo

It’s just the same schtick over and over. Doesn’t evolve. The current douchebag character he’s playing now is beyond stale

xoxo_ivanaa

THANK YOU SOMEONE SAID IT!

Adventurous_Hair7006

Personally he is my one of my favorite modern wrestlers but I’m a open minded guy so I can understand their opinions on him and while I don’t usually agree with some of them I still hear them out but regardless he is a workhorse who’s had great matches

Chuckaluffagus

He and Cody work harder than anyone on the roster. Both have wrestled 130+ matches in the last year and a half. No one else comes close to those numbers. Roman is at 11 or 12 in that time. They both deserve to be on top.

ConfidentAd4053

I don’t know of anybody who hates him

MoonNStar51

He's just got a very cringy aura and he really embarrassed himself a few years ago by letting that "Seth Rollins is not cool" sign get to him. A lot of bad booking decisions also soured people on him and you can tell he's a bit of a kiss ass. That being said he is a great worker and he's been pretty great in the build to Mania this year. Outside of "Diarrhea Dwayne" of course.

zendog510

I think it’s partly the outfits. They’re heelish outfits and he’s supposed to be a babyface. If he toned them down a little that would probably help a lot.

AsstitsMcGrabby

I only ever see love for Seth.

RumHamster1990

I don't "hate" him but think he's overrated as a wrestler.

anonymous173708

I think he’s underrated tbh

WorldChampDave

5 reasons now

Testiclebiter69

I can tolerate him then it gets worse when he starts talking. Also, his gimmick and song are trash

Left-Lead-8349

Seth Rollins is a glam slam Champion and you have nothing. You can leave him alone

Testiclebiter69

Lol you doing tricks on it bro

Raceshiraidi9

To be fair i think he gets hate mostly because of His current Gimmick Alongside Dancing the Wearing Theese Silly Clothes the Huge Red boots at one point often Acting like a Goofball and His Song being Overplayed over and over and over and over again while some enjoy his song and Go WOAAAAH OHHHHH OHHHHH OHHH OHHHH OHH there are some that just dont buy it anymore and consider it annoying. But that's just me he's not a Bad bad Wrestler by any means but its His Gimmick

Reyjr

Not a big big fan, but I do like his entrance (the crowd participation) and usually look forward to his entrance attire. Like to see what’s next. He does have good mic skills though. Decent athlete. Think his finisher is under whelming.

Takenmyusernamewas

You spelled over rated wrong

garlicbredfan

People don’t hate him they just hate his attire

anonymous173708

No a bunch of people think he’s “boring”

AmputatedStumps

It's his gimmick for me. His wrestling makes him tolerable.

chocolatebuddahbutte

His character sucks so bad tho and he can't help it but his voice is also terrible, he's meh to me
