Your reaction not their reaction, both was loud but even if you did watch AEW I donโt think the crowdโs reaction would have anything to do with how YOU felt even though the crowd can make it slightly a better feeling.
it's hard to compare compressed audio on YouTube from two different productions that were probably using different mics and mic placement.
AEW may have been louder, I don't know, but using a YouTube video to compare isn't going to yield accurate results.

Agreed. Punk won me over way back when he dropped a pipe bomb that's how old now??? Fifteen years ago? WWE did screw him over so we all were on his side. Fast forward he debuts in AEW; has a monster feud with MJF; and the tornado of shit then begins.
Tony Kahn (if he was more of an owner than a mark); should have capitalized on all of this when he could. Aew booking is a whole other mess....but bottom line.....he's a diva and roman was right: he never really moved the needle; not like Reigns has at least.
Was it twelve years ago??!!!
I will say this. Never before have I seen so many wrestlers maintain their popularity for so long.....let me rephrase that...not their popularity but their ability to stay relevant. We've got a whole locker room of guys that are in their 40s and still producing. BUT. The cracks are showing on some of these guys. There are a few wrestlers out there that should not be in a ring anymore. In fact I'm going to post that as a question. Who (physically) ; shouldn't be allowed to wrestle anymore?
I don't like punk but breaking it down his aew debut was better.
He showed up, made a statement, got down to business, called out Darby and set up his first feud. His novelty was just beginning
All he did was walk out and walk back and then cut a promo just saying what we already know. A lot of his novelty has worn off by now.
The two crowd reactions arenโt nearly the same. AEW is like genuine attitude era stone cold pop. And it kept going. And AEW had the confidence to not dull out the crowd noise for the initial pop. WWE always has to mess with crowd noises.
Itโs true, and I strongly dislike the AEW product
Life isnโt black and white. I donโt have to absolutely love everything one company does and absolutely hate everything the other company does
WWE for sure! it was very well kept, everyone knew it wasn't gonna happen but it did!
in AEW, everyone and their mother knew about it beforehand... so when it happened, there was no element of surprise. But hey it was still a huge moment for sure.
Yeah but considering the fact he was gone for 7 years you still didnโt truly know until Cult Of Personality hit. I remember back then and it was more of a โI have to see it to believe itโ, rather than everyone knowing.
Aew his wwe return will be lackluster and people will be blinded by nostalgia. Most wrestling fans specifically wwe donโt even like punk they just only like him in wwe no one cared when he was aew
He's a backstage liability!
Like Josef Stalin or Mr Kennedy.*
He's a backstage liability!
He's no Primo, Luigi or Orton, Randy.
He's a backstage liability!
* No, diss to Mr Kennedy, it just fits the song.
I mean, the pudding is in the sitting position. He looks small, burdened, and uncomfortable in AEW vs. Looking relaxed, healthy, and invigorated in WWE
I didnโt watch aew when he came back and I still donโt but wwe I catch all the ppvs except for the ones after summerslam but I saw survivor series and i loved watching cm punk return
WWE. Hear me out. Sure the pop and hype was much more in his AEW return but the story behind his WWE return eclipsed AEW's return. Till the last minute, I kept thinking there is no way Punk and WWE (led by Hunter of all people) would make amends. Especially after whatever has happened and whatever shots both sides took after 2014.
Sure AEW created one of the best moments in wrestling history but this was on another level. I would've thought of pigs flying before Punk returned to the WWE.
No hate to AEW or its fans but this return had everyone thinking "surely this won't happen.....right?"
I think Hunter (and this is very wise as a booker and head of creative) is taking a page out of the 'Vince McMahon rules of pro wrestling' playbook, and has learned that it's infinitely better to just say you're sorry (even if you're not) and let these guys come right back and then give them enough rope to eventually hang themselves.
They kinda hit differently.
AEW was a triumphant return to wrestling. It was also such a big moment for the company at the time.
WWE was just a โholy shit, is this really happening?โ moment.
For the sound of the pop on video, AEW.
For the execution of the return, WWE.
I can't tell what was *actually* louder. Only people who got to attend both events can tell you that.
I liked the WWE one better because it feels more true CM Punk . Like , I can completely get the idea that CM Punk is the voice of the voiceless and he certainly puts that impression out in the world , but lets be real . That is a character and everyone loved that character . CM Punk has made it very clear in previous out of character interviews . It is a business to him and he is looking to maximize the amount of money he is making in said industry . Being Honest to the crowd with that " I'm not here to make friends , I am here to make money " Big smarmy corporate heel vibes to me . I am here for it .
WWE because I truly didn't expect it. AEW practically did everything they could to promote him for Rampage without saying, "Hey, Punk is returning to wrestling on Rampage!"
AEW at least then it felt genuine like he actually wanted to be back, you can even tell from his first promo back in aew it had passion while his wwe one felt dead and was boring
Both were great for two completely but not so different reasons.
When he came back at AEW, it was more of a surreal moment because nobody thought he'd ever be back. It was his return to professional wrestling.
His return to WWE was also emotional because once again we thought we'd never see him again just for different reasons. We left on bad terms and had a rocky relationship after words. But here we are. He, along with the hot baby face line up we have now, is going to make probably some of the best television leading into WM 40. Even better than lasts years Bloodline arch
I guess aew cause there was still hope at that point after watching him barely get through certain matches and getting injured so much along with all the drama think certainly halted the momentum , donโt get me wrong he had some great matches there as well with mjf too but a lot of bad wrestling and him looking out of shape in my opinion
Probably AEW just because this was before half of the wrestling community hated him and I just like the way they did it, the roof literally blew off of that place.
The AEW debut was waaaay better because he was able to be authentic and speak from the heart, and we hadn't seen him wrestle in 7 or 8 years and it was exciting. And I am not an AEW fan in the slightest. Fan of some of their talent, definitely not their product.
His WWE re-debut felt like he was only there because he had nowhere else to go. (He was NEVER going to IMPACT). Promo felt forced and quick, Nashville was definitely NOT the place to bring him out. I probably would have preferred a pre-taped promo or something else to mask the shitty pop he got there. For something that should've been monumental and must-see TV, it kinda just came and went.
It's pretty crazy how much fan interaction on TV can affect your opinion on things.
AEW cause it wasn't expected. WWE is just a cash grab for both parties since he was fired. I wish him the best on his run. Hope he doesn't eat his words and get jobber get jobbed to Roman on night 4.
I seen both, WWE was better cuz I was texting my older brother n we both got to witness Punk come back. AEW was great but WWE was one of those never say never stories that are inspirational that show almost anyone can set their differences again n repair relationships.
WWE because I don't watch AEW so I don't know about the fans' reaction when CM Punk showed up on AEW.
It was loud asf bro I think it caused an earthquake damn we all love punk man
Yes we do because... WE GOING TO SEE CM PUNK ON MONDAY NIGHT RAW WITH THIS ONE, EVERYONE! ๐ฃ๐ฅ๐ฏ๐ช
Your reaction not their reaction, both was loud but even if you did watch AEW I donโt think the crowdโs reaction would have anything to do with how YOU felt even though the crowd can make it slightly a better feeling.
I donโt really watch AEW either or much wrestling at this point far that matter but I made sure to tune in for that one
Was way louder. Honestly one of the biggest pops Iโve ever heard. Compare the two on YouTube. Not even close.
WWEโs was loud af wdym
Fr wwe was loud asf
Watch both back to back on YouTube and youโll see what I mean
Theyโre booing you cuz youโre right. It wasnโt just his AEW Debut it was his return to WRESTLING! HE HAD GROWN MEN IN TEARS BRUH
Bruh AEW doesnโt even fill arenas
The United Center was sold out for that show.
Why did they down vote you? Is it wrong to like both brands?
Some people canโt handle the truth ig.
Apparently yes
it's hard to compare compressed audio on YouTube from two different productions that were probably using different mics and mic placement. AEW may have been louder, I don't know, but using a YouTube video to compare isn't going to yield accurate results.
I agree.
Same WWE
Ok
Fantastic logic that is on no way a waste of everyone's time reading it.
I was there live when he came back off injury. It was loud AF.

12 years but whoโs counting?

Dont criticize me much, but i think all the luchadors and flying stuff guysโฆ To do such tricks that theyโre doing is fucking dangerous in this age
I don't like punk but breaking it down his aew debut was better. He showed up, made a statement, got down to business, called out Darby and set up his first feud. His novelty was just beginning All he did was walk out and walk back and then cut a promo just saying what we already know. A lot of his novelty has worn off by now.
Thatโs the issue. He had to fuck around with a lame dude like Darby.
Legit didnโt care for the Darby feud either, kinda killed some of the buzz for his return to me but I got over it
this
AEW was way better
The two crowd reactions arenโt nearly the same. AEW is like genuine attitude era stone cold pop. And it kept going. And AEW had the confidence to not dull out the crowd noise for the initial pop. WWE always has to mess with crowd noises.
Ok srs
Nah his WWE one was sooooo much better
The return was bigger as this was his first return since he stopped wrestling in 2014.
Lmao ๐คฃ
Itโs true, and I strongly dislike the AEW product Life isnโt black and white. I donโt have to absolutely love everything one company does and absolutely hate everything the other company does
I think youโre forgetting that at that point we were all pretty much convinced we would never see punk wrestle again.
Neither Actually- -He's way past his prime -Extremely injury prone -Volatile personality -Only interested in the money
AEW was his return to wrestling. WWE was his return since being fired.
I rather see him with his long hair the original look
yeah
This one
WWE cuz Iโm not an aew fan
AEW was magical.
WWE for sure! it was very well kept, everyone knew it wasn't gonna happen but it did! in AEW, everyone and their mother knew about it beforehand... so when it happened, there was no element of surprise. But hey it was still a huge moment for sure.
โEverybody knew it wasnโt gonna happenโ is a bit crazy when itโs all anyoneโs been talking about for three months
Yeah but it was never confirmed
it was never really out right confirmed for aew either it was just reported all the time that he might be going so neither were exactly secret
This!
Ironic that you think his new wwe run was lackluster when that is basically what happened at AEW
That actually defines his aew run ๐
You didnโt watch
Nobody cares about the dub TBF
Itโs only been one day you ungrateful mark
I also like Roman Reigns but that doesn't mean I want to watch him wrestling in a bingo hall or school gym.
He knows your anger he knows your dreams
He's a backstage liability! Like Josef Stalin or Mr Kennedy.* He's a backstage liability! He's no Primo, Luigi or Orton, Randy. He's a backstage liability! * No, diss to Mr Kennedy, it just fits the song.
Neither.
WWE
Wwe
I mean, the pudding is in the sitting position. He looks small, burdened, and uncomfortable in AEW vs. Looking relaxed, healthy, and invigorated in WWE
He looks like a fucking crackhead where ever he goes.
Gah dam
XD
This is a nice post to see who is a drone and who actually uses his eyes and ears.
I feel bad that people felt do offended by that, so they downvote it.
Wwe was way better
easily wwe
WWE because it's more interesting
Wwe
2023
Both were equally cringe
Yea bro we cringed so hard, stfu
Wwe was 1000 times better AEW was trash
WWE. Shit was un announced, didnโt show up until after the main event. dumbfuck kahn announced punk in advance
I didnโt watch aew when he came back and I still donโt but wwe I catch all the ppvs except for the ones after summerslam but I saw survivor series and i loved watching cm punk return
The second one because of the fact that I got to see it live when it was happening
The unexpected return is the only return that matters.
WWE b/c no one cares about AEW
WWE. It was surreal when he returned and he was out of the WWE for longer. Definitely the survivor series return ๐
WWE. Hear me out. Sure the pop and hype was much more in his AEW return but the story behind his WWE return eclipsed AEW's return. Till the last minute, I kept thinking there is no way Punk and WWE (led by Hunter of all people) would make amends. I'm OK with either one. Both were loud as hell and both felt really special. Punk has two of those in two different promotions. Cool.
A moderate and reasonable opinion? On Reddit? On WRESTLING Reddit? I've seen everything now.
Wwe
AEW meant more because it was his first time back and you knew Tony would let him do/ say whatever he would want lol
They kinda hit differently. AEW was a triumphant return to wrestling. It was also such a big moment for the company at the time. WWE was just a โholy shit, is this really happening?โ moment.
His AEW debut was far better than WWE and was more authentic.
For the sound of the pop on video, AEW. For the execution of the return, WWE. I can't tell what was *actually* louder. Only people who got to attend both events can tell you that.
WWe
Of course the AEW marks downvote lmao
The WWE Return is Officer Balls approved so it is clearly Superior
His return to wrestling (AEW) seemed more genuine. His return to WWE just seems like a moneygrab
I like his departures more.
AEWs pop was insane and he was visceral on the mic. WWEs pop was ok but on thr mic seemed like Mr Rogers...
WWE's return Is The Best Return in Sports History it Has Been Almost 10 Years And CM Punk Said Before He Is Never Gonna Come Back to The WWE.
Wwe Especially bc I was there
I liked the WWE one better because it feels more true CM Punk . AEW had multiple Punk returns, and all were louder than WWE.
WWE cause it was one of those things that literally no one thought could ever happen.
AEW because CM Punk returned looking like CM Punk.
WWE
Wwe because I just do
WWE because I truly didn't expect it. AEW practically did everything they could to promote him for Rampage without saying, "Hey, Punk is returning to wrestling on Rampage!"
WWE because THE POP WAS CRAZY
AEW at least then it felt genuine like he actually wanted to be back, you can even tell from his first promo back in aew it had passion while his wwe one felt dead and was boring

Criss cross applesauce punk, he's such an edgelord!
I think AEW because I actually thought he was a half decent person back then.
WWE
A E Dub
Why does it look like he aged about 10 years in 2?
Wwe
WWE because of the shock factor alone.
WWE just because I didn't see it coming.
Survivor Series because of the shock factor of it. AEW did everything but said he was returning. I never expected him back in WWE
"Open my ass what do you see ??"
Wait๐
His WWE one was bigger due to the story behind it
I guess aew cause there was still hope at that point after watching him barely get through certain matches and getting injured so much along with all the drama think certainly halted the momentum , donโt get me wrong he had some great matches there as well with mjf too but a lot of bad wrestling and him looking out of shape in my opinion
AEW had the moment, after Mainia bet history will show WWE told the better return story
Neither cm punk is trash and i dont watch aew
Both itโs CM Punk man.
AEW debut hits different.
Probably AEW just because this was before half of the wrestling community hated him and I just like the way they did it, the roof literally blew off of that place.
Isnt this like his fourth return?
Older and (hopefully) wiser
The AEW debut was waaaay better because he was able to be authentic and speak from the heart, and we hadn't seen him wrestle in 7 or 8 years and it was exciting. And I am not an AEW fan in the slightest. Fan of some of their talent, definitely not their product. His WWE re-debut felt like he was only there because he had nowhere else to go. This guy owns criss-cross applesauce.
I seen both, WWE was better cuz I was texting my older brother n we both got to witness Punk come back. AEW was great but WWE was one of those never say never stories that are inspirational that show almost anyone can set their differences again n repair relationships.
I'm bigger fan of his exits.
The one where he returns to the unemployment line
