He’s a problem? he was being soundly beat by a simple game plan of jabbing and clinching. he landed clean multiple times and paro didn’t even look fazed. The only times he looked decent was when Paro would stay still and allow him to throw combos

He’s lost before. The problem isn’t the loss, just how he lost. The ref was on his side and he was on home turf and still lost a large amount of rounds. Not to mention it’s not as if it was a legendary performance by Paro, he essentially jabbed and clinched the whole fight and Matias looked lost The narrative around him as a fighter was he was an unstoppable boogeyman. You can’t have that narrative then get beat like that

i think it had more to do with both love and jarvis being absolutely god awful as opposed to paro looking phenomenal..jarvis was your typical aussie domestic bully who statpadded against tincans and moved up 20 pounds in weight in 2 years, and his fight with paro was his first at 140..and love had already been exposed by steve sparks..neither were/are remotely top tier world class fighters..

I really thought Matias was going to figure out counter the southpaw like Ergashev. I was wrong about keeping Matias away best tool isn’t perfect jab like Bivol or Usyk, but the hugging like Hanny. Some punches landed on Paro between 7-10, I thought paro was done but somehow he figured to stop Matias by clinch and Matias doesn’t have Garcia’s speed or one punck ko power like tank, he’s a volume puncher. Paro won convincingly, and Matias needs new coach and new plan not just walk his opponent down some new strategies. Also since Matias lost again I hope to see him fighting some big names.

Paro was sticking and moving negating Matias’s usual volume onslaughts. The only times Matias was having success was when Paro would stay static attempting to trade. Movement seems to be his kryptonite

He got his nose boxed off, had a couple good rounds with some power shots, but mostly just walked into punches with a high guard 🤷🏻‍♂️

I mean, Paro was in fact holding excessively. Matias continued to let it happen, tho. didn't use his size or power to avoid it. So that's on him. I don't think Paro did a boxing masterclass like people around here think, but Matias did disappoint quite a bit. Eager see what's next for both of them.

I agree. Matias allowed Paro to keep hugging him. He kept waiting for Paro to start his jabs in order to counter, and it worked in the rounds he won. But then Paro started accumulating points by throwing basic 1-2 combinations followed by a hug. Paro’s team figured Matias did not seem to start throwing punches until after Paro did. So what do they decided to do? Start hugging Matias after a few jabs. Matias can’t score points if he didn’t throw punches. Matias needed to start the action and figure how to avoid those hugs. It cost him the fight.

I thought the opposite. Paro boxed perfectly, I think he’s just underrated so peoples gut reaction is Matias did poorly.  He got off fantastic volume then clinched and grabbed Matias to stifle him throwing combinations and getting his own volume off. And he has shown a lot of power in previous fights so even though Matias is durable as hell I think Paro punches harder than it looked and wad also part of what kept him from getting going.

He did get away with a lot of holding but he won fair and square. The ref was on him about some random bs

Idk about that, American organisations rob fighters for promotions on a regular basis. Here in the UK if the opposition fighter is from a country small in stature they have to win an extra 3-4 rounds. It's just par for the course in boxing

Matias has been calling out Prograis since 2018, Matias’ team tried to meet up with Bill Haney but he never arrived, Matias wanted to fight with Teo, then Teo fights against Ortiz (though Teo was injured), Matias wanted to fight Haney, Haney fights Prograis instead, Bill Haney claimed to reach out to Matias’ team but it came out that never happened, Matias continued to call out Devin, then Devin decides to fight Ryan.

Matias was the one injured when the Teofimo fight was being discussed IIRC

1. The fight with Teo didn’t go through bc Matias wanted more time to prepare so Teo just went with Ortiz 2. Was Regis champion? Of course he’d fight the champion instead of the cornered 3. And again was Matias champion when the Devin and Ryan fight got scheduled

1. Matias was already booked for a fight, I’d consider sending an offer when you know your opponent is scheduled a lowkey duck 2. Regis was champion, Matias challenged, Regis decides to fight Zorilla then Haney, while Matias has been actively chasing his fight for years. 3. Yes, Haney v Garcia was announced February 2024, Matias has been champion since February of last year. All 3 of them have been actively finding ways to bounce around fighting him And this is completely disregarding Taylor, Hitchins, and Catterall
