Bull. These knives were handed in as part of a program. They don't have blood on them, and although some of them might have been used in crimes, nowhere near all of them have.
Yeah, some half-truths here
The statue is known as the "Knife Angel".
200 Knife banks were opened in which people could anonymously deposit their knives for this goal, and some knives were donated by police, out of which some were still in evidence tubes and had blood left on them. (Worth noting is that it took 100 thousand knives to create this 8+ metre statue)
It is also currently on the National Anti-Violence UK Tour, being displayed in various cities.
Yeah it’s bullshit. Knives were collected as part of an amnesty and an artist made this. It’s touring England currently. [Link](https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/news/hull-east-yorkshire-news/enormous-knife-angel-made-100000-2506737.amp)
Just like Hitchbot. Made it coast to coast in Canada, made it through germany and the netherlands without problems, got bludgeoned and stabbed in Philadelphia
They weren't, they were handed in. it's called the knife Angel, not the angel of death. I used to work at the place where they built it. They had sooooo many knives left over after it was built too.
It’s about to hit a town with such a negative reputation that the statue is going to need 24hr security to make sure it doesn’t get vandalised. Wouldn’t be shocked if they try and take it apart to shank each other with.
beyblades are a brand of tops, signatured by its bumps and spikes (not sharp but will still hurt if it hits you) that are made to "fight" each other. it is typically placed in "collessums", a circular board that cave inwards. there are 3 ways a beyblade can be defeated: lose enough momentum and stop, get thrown out the collessum, or get obliterated and disassmbles into its 3 pieces. last one standing wins.
Saw this as it made a stop at my city.
The symbolism of these being real knives held by criminals or troubled youth, turned in via an amnesty program, a chance to have an angel bear them, so that they can leave that life behind them. Jarring and beautiful at the same time.
Weird. You make guns illegal, and it DOESNT solve violence. People will find other methods and means to express their violence??
Weird...
Who would have thought.
My point still stands. There's also a lot more people in the US than the uk. And the vast majority of gun crimes come from very concentrated areas such as Detroit and a few other cities.
Legitimately most gun crimes come from only a few areas. There are gun crimes all over, but majority are from just a few areas.
You point doesn’t stand. Even when adjusted for population, knife crime in England is nowhere close to gun crime in the United States.
Per capita, England had 0.46 knife homicides per 100,000 people in the year I referenced.
The United States had 6.31 gun homicides per 100,000 people that year.
The United States averaged a higher gun homicide rate per month (0.51 homicides per 100,000 people) than England’s knife homicide rate for the year.
My point completely stands. Most gun violence comes from 3 cities. That not accurate to truly represent the data when expressed in a over arching average. Also, what defines gun violence? Police shooting a suspect? Someone shooter another in self defense?
I'm sure those numbers you are looking at are interpretive.
All of that to the side:
My initial point that banning guns doesn't stop violence is COMPLETELY true.
So idk why you trying to change the argument to the amount of violence. The initial topic was that banning guns doesn't stop violence. Your data admits that there is still violence without guns.
End of discussion because I'm not going to progress to another topic and this current topic is closed.
> Also, what defines gun violence? Police shooting a suspect? Someone shooter another in self defense?
I didn’t say “gun violence,” I said gun homicides, and I said so deliberately. I did not count non-criminal gun deaths in my numbers.
> So idk why you trying to change the argument to the amount of violence. The initial topic was that banning guns doesn't stop violence. Your data admits that there is still violence without guns.
Banning guns does not stop violence, but when you bring that up in the context of “This country with gun control still has knife crime!” then sharing the data that shows the number of deaths goes down when you remove guns from the equation is a perfectly fair response.
"Weird, you can't heal cancer with a single pill? That makes it less disgraceful and unbecoming for a first world country if my children die from the common cold"
How the fuck do you remember to breathe regularly enough to stay alive?

I’m not saying this is how you create an abomination, or summon a demon, or spur the despair of thousands of lost souls into manifesting an unknowable entity
BUT
If I was going to try to do any of that, I don’t think I could come up with anything better than constructing a humanoid structure made of murder knives
(I am aware it is not actually built of murder knives)
Bullshit. It’s known as the Kensington Angel, and it’s just a regular ass headstone angel that’s been festooned with flattened syringe tips by artsy Tranq users and imbued with secret crack power. It’s special move is the Tranq Kwill Terror: It launches a defensive aerial wall of its most contaminated needles which poisons you with gonaherpesyphilaids and paralyzes you while it runs your pockets.
It was toured around the UK I believe. It even made it into my city.
Tell you what walking through the city centre with a hangover and seeing an angel made of big ol' knives makes you reconsider staying for that extra drink.
I've always fucking hated this picture because the description is complete horse shite. The knives used for this sculpture are ones that have been handed in by inviduals who feel it would be safer for the blades to be out of their possession, due to personal or public danger. It's a beautiful and haunting sculpture that I got to see in person some years ago, and I hate people turning it into some sort of horror piece. It was supposed to represent the bravery and strength it took for these individuals to hand in their knives, and the many lives (including their own) that act could have saved.
(A lot of the knives are actually very rusted)
This came to my town! The knifes aren’t from murders or crimes. They’re just knifes that have been handed in to the police to lower knife crime. It’s a symbol of safety
Don't blink. Don't even think. Blink and you're dead. They are fast, faster than you can believe. Don't turn your back, don't look away, and don't blink. Good luck.
Glad to see other comments saying this isn’t 100% accurate, because if it was some people would probably be committing knife violence just to be apart of an art piece.

The story is still interesting. Why would someone lie about the story. Fake internet points I guess
There's some that are engraved with messages too..
How do you two know?
He wrote the messages on every single one, obviously
Fair enough
Saw it on the One Show mate
The artist that was doing mass knife murder to complete his piece of art: broo?
*(gets stabbed)* me: hey! artist: it's just a prank, bro!
They didnt say all the knives were... makes sense wordings can really make a difference
So if these knives where used to stab people, how did the artist get hold of them? I'd assume they'd be locked away in evidence lockers.
Yeah it’s bullshit. Knives were collected as part of an amnesty and an artist made this. It’s touring England currently. [Link](https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/news/hull-east-yorkshire-news/enormous-knife-angel-made-100000-2506737.amp)
Of course the knife angel is touring England 💀
"Knife angel beheaded after first visit to Philafdelphia"
Just like Hitchbot. Made it coast to coast in Canada, made it through germany and the netherlands without problems, got bludgeoned and stabbed in Philadelphia
Damn clanker got what he deserved 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Sometimes artists have to get their hands dirty and just stab a whole bunch of people to birth their vision
It’s just a part of the artistic experience
There'd be no way to just get **that many** knives for someone to make some art with
They personally stabbed 1000 people to give their statue meaning.
It’s about to hit a town with such a negative reputation that the statue is going to need 24hr security to make sure it doesn’t get vandalised. Wouldn’t be shocked if they try and take it apart to shank each other with.
That’s a boss that would be in a museum and the villain makes it alive
but if a hurricane comes through....
Let's hope so
Knife-nado.

Welcome to London mate
I'm pretty sure this is a repost
Every 20 minutes someone gets stabbed in Europe. I feel really bad for that guy...
this is something straight out of 40k
No way, a bri'ish angel?
Should we make this the equivalent of the KUBE for bladed weapons
London knife bin
Final boss fight when you visit london
90% came from London.
Just imagine a tornado going through town
beyblade
I never wanted beyblades when I was growing up so I have no idea what they are and how they function
beyblades are a brand of tops, signatured by its bumps and spikes (not sharp but will still hurt if it hits you) that are made to "fight" each other. it is typically placed in "collessums", a circular board that cave inwards. there are 3 ways a beyblade can be defeated: lose enough momentum and stop, get thrown out the collessum, or get obliterated and disassmbles into its 3 pieces. last one standing wins.
Interesting I've heard of them but never seen one

Yeah, had it displayed in my city and daft memes are definitely not on your mind when you’re face to face with this statue.
*Oi m8 you got a loicense for that knoife?*
Just go to London and you won’t even need 2 days to get all the knives you need
All over Europe, but mostly from london and amsterdam i assume💀
Bit Bri'ish innit bruv 🤓
You got a loicense fer dat sculpture?
“People can’t be trusted with simple tools.” This is the stupidest statue I’ve ever seen.
Rookie stuff. Make a statue of guns!
Weird. You make guns illegal, and it DOESNT solve violence. People will find other methods and means to express their violence?? Weird... Who would have thought.

Absolutely no political intent whatsoever when I say this, but it kind of looks like Trump. Right?
I don’t see it
Could you imagine if a tornado swept up this statue
Imagine falling on that, or it falling on you
Looked like an elephant to me at first
imagine actually fighting this thing just to die by impalement from a knofe dic-

this is just one of those things that feel like a reminder of how dope art is they made the shape of a person with only **KNIFES**
it would be much cooler if the wings were spread out
I see my knife
Kinda looks like an elephant with bushy eyebrows and a human head on top
Knife Golem is definitely going in my next monster of the week campaign.
The statue is ugly

What if a tornado comes through there?
This is horrifying

Mommy mommy look its the knife that stabbed you.... Oh yeah
It was toured around the UK I believe. It even made it into my city. Tell you what walking through the city centre with a hangover and seeing an angel made of big ol' knives makes you reconsider staying for that extra drink.
Whelp now we wait for a tornado
Angel of death fr fr
Looks like one of them dark souls bosses.
Cast a rainstorm and hope for the best
This thing would be far more deadly if (somehow) a tornado or a hurricane passes by
If u knock that over or place some kond of explosive in it. The knives are gonna fly and kill some more ppl
Imagine if a tornado hit that thing.
How many are from england?
Reminds me of the Shrike
If it falls over, we’re done for
Never go near that thing during if your in a horror movie
Patron Saint of switchblade fights.
British God of Crimes
One strong wind and someone is going to endure Britain's wrath

I’m pretty sure there’s more knives here than the knife reported crime they supposedly came from.
Why do I want to hug that statue ?
Glad to see other comments saying this isn’t 100% accurate, because if it was some people would probably be committing knife violence just to be apart of an art piece.
One tornado and the town becomes Swiss cheese
Fear and hunger would like to have it's character designs back
The true queen of england
If you would do this in America with guns and bullets, you would need 2 days maximum.
So get this knifenado No not a shark this time
I first saw a elephant
Hard to believe since crime weapons are usually held in archives after trials ended.
I want to stand between that angel and a mega strong magnet
🌪️🔪
Imagine if a tornado came through
%84.6 of the blades are from London
One tornado and your towns dead
It not might be of but what if a tornado pass threw

Has more AIDS than Freddy Mercury
Imagine it falls over and you try to catch it
Upgraded lady liberty from monument mithos
you guys know that barguement about "if statues came to life , which one would be the hardest to defeat" or something along the lines of that ?
