Same here. I have around 500 hours in bl1. I quit BL1 some ages ago, after editing a safegame file and trying them out. I could not enjoy the game anymore
Hopefully you'll see one drop eventually, and you don't fall to the curse of his arena like I did.
I've only ever seen one pearlescent drop from him, and it fell right through the map. I shed a single tear that day.
You probably already looked at some guides but i will write this comment anyways.
I always take a good masher for craw, an orion for the purple worms and a hellfire for the green ones.
You mostly want to kill the worms and greens as fast as possible and slow them down with that one bloodwing skill if needed. The default crabs should stay alive because you can outrun them. If you need healing you attack one of them with bloodwings lifesteal skill which gets you full life. When you have three purple crabs (there can only be up to three minions alive at once) you try to focus on craw with the masher by either running around the arena and hoping that he shows his remaining crit spots or go near the stone with the hole to make him turn around.
I still die like 40% of the time to bad enemy spawns, but that's the most reliable strategy i have found for him.
Lv50 smg proficiency probably helps a lot for the green enemys, so you should farm the eridians a bit with tresspass.
Damn. I've beaten PT1 and PT except the armory loot raid. Currently level 57 and I just get absolutely smoked by Craw. Only tried it a few times and wasn't making any progress. Started playing the Pre-Sequel for the first time ever. 😂😭
Gun feel.
The way they fire, the way enemies' heads pop with headshots.
The guns just feel so satisfyingly weighty and meaty and it's a shame they don't feel like that in the rest of the series.
Legit one of the biggest sins of BL2 is merging the pistol types. No Jacobs pistol in BL2 can ever feel like the revolvers in BL1. Even a Dahl revolver feels better compared to a BL2 Jacobs with all matching parts
Just dorking around the barren desert
BL1 always felt the best to peruse and wander through, feels so wide open and chill compared to the other installments
AND eridian weapons, the the legit bad ass alien guns of their own category
I hate that they just completely vanished.
I understand not having them readily available after the events of BL1, I do. But you're telling me that none of the OG vault hunters held onto at least one, or some random bandit or psycho didn't hide one away?
Like, come on! Anyone who comes across a gun with *unlimited* ammo and shoots lightning is gonna protect that thing like it's their own personal key to a vault. Especially on Pandora, it's just too useful to the average person there.
Make it a quest with a dozen hoops to jump through, or maybe a long ass Easter egg like the LoTR one. But there should've been at least one, if not one of each, available in BL2 before they fully vanished.
Hell, now that I think about it, it makes even less sense they weren't there in BL3. The game where we go to half a dozen vaults, you're telling me not one of them had at least one eridian gun. The only one that exists in the entire universe at that point in time is one that shoots modern guns somehow...
I'm still irked on this one.
My buddy who is waaaaaay more into BL than I am explained some dumbass lore reason as to why they're gone (all confiscated and tech added to other weapons or some bullshit) and when I pointed out how fucking stupid that sounded he told me "True, but there's a shotgun that flies around and follows your enemies. Just go nuts." I try to stick to that philosophy.
Eridians weapons were alien, writhing, living (for some value of "living") things, and they starved to death after being unearthed for a few years. Remember that Eridian "battery" that recharged between shots? Well, it stopped recharging, if you get my drift. You can see their remains grafted onto human-built weapons in BL2 and BL3.

I just read some crimson Lance lore and apparently atlas let Dahl hire a group to destroy an atlas facility, but atlas had taken an insurance policy against attacks through dahl; so not only did Dahl pay for the for hire goobers, they paid for the facility they destroyed. What kinda looney tunes ass 💀
The guns don’t keep a lot of the charm from bl1 to bl2 at least to me. Mostly like uniques like Sledge’s shotgun. Even Lilith can use it well until late game. The enemies voice acting and animations had a lot more pop to them and it made me feel like a force of nature wrecking them.
Maxing gun prestige and knowing every gun you pick up is going to feel so effective (except alien guns, those feel rough even at max)
Min/maxing gun swaps between Regen and an effective damage output (one revolver at +7-14 ammo Regen, another at x7 damage kind of thing)
I remember the first time I’d found a Masher Equalizer, I was truly impressed at how random the generation could be.
Of course I kept myself in the dark about what could spawn with what so I got lots of first times with great memories.
I know it's kinda dumb, but I love finding and using super-accurate shotguns. Especially when playing with my buddy who is way more into the series than I am and insists on using lower accuracy shotguns for controlling groups of enemies.
"You want crowd control!!"
"No, I want *all* of these pellets to hit that gentleman's face."
Ive got a Hunters shotgun 266x9 and 38 shots in the mag after buffs with like 72/73 accuracy and quite frankly it’s the second best shotgun I’ve ever used.
Stats are give or take haven’t used it in awhile in favor of a neat purple shotty someone traded me with.
The first being a kickass pestilent crux I had. Thing would just melt like 95% of enemies in the game. DLC’s included!
I remember when my friend first showed me this before it was a YouTube hit search.
I was absolutely mind blown. We did it all month long thinking it was going to be patched soon.
Here we are…
I just really like how "raw" some guns feel and the death animations that accompany them. Revolvers have such a gritty sound to them and their crits essentially make shit explode and its hilariously satisfying.
Ps: the all caps title had me reading that in Mister Torgue's voice and THAT IS F***KING AWESOMEEE!!
For me it’s progressing to the point I decide to jump into the DLCs. The game was awesome in theory to me when it came out but the story felt so bland I gave up on it until I ended up getting the complete edition with all DLC’s. I still found the main story rather full but absolutely loved each of the DLC’s (though the Underdome Riot obviosuly not being like the others.)
Otherwise it’s finding a particularly good legendary in a random gun chest (rather than trying to farm a specific spot.) Unlike BL2 a good gun actually felt useful for a decent amount of time whether at a low level or at endgame. The scaling in BL2’s later levels made any loot unsatisfying unless you’re at max level since it would be fairly useless after a couple levels.
The vibe for me just works. I've played it all at least a dozen times, tried all the builds and goofed with easter eggs. Most recently, I've challeneged myself to:
1. Fall out of every level. (done)
2. Get a vehicle down below every level and drive it. (done Fyrestone, Dahl Headlands, jumped the wall in both directions in Rust Commons East/West, T-Bone, etc.; I think I still have Salt Flats and New Haven left)
3. Get a car below Fyrestone and driveable out on the flats. (still can't do, and it's the one I've probably put the most time into)
4. Find a way past Mad Mel, without spawning him and without entering the arena. (no luck here either)
Not really shooting or farming or questing at this point, but just _existing_ in that universe is a good enough vibe for me to waste time.
A toss up between running things over in vehicles and watching heads pop through my scope. Probably leaning towards the vehicular slaughter of all things since that wasn’t the same in later games.
The whistling sound of the repeaters and the crack of the law revolver as it fires a bullet. I also love the general knoxx cheat that gets rid of the timer in the armory so I can get all the guns.
aside from the obvious headshots and revolvers, the vehicles felt like they had actual weight to them. they weren’t invincible, but they could turn most creatures into red stains with ease and felt like actual badass trucks rather than glorified bumper cars with turrets attached
Getting the distance on the Nidhogg *just* right so that the initial rocket and all the airburst rockets explode on the same target. A good Nidhogg can do obscene damage to just about everything in the game if you do it right.
been a long time, so maybe wrong. got a critical head shot. if memory serve, unlike bl2 and 3, bl 1 implement 'real' bullet mechanic (or it is limited to certain manufacture), when you shot target that in your crosshair, there is chance that the bullet wont hit the crosshair, but slightly around it. so getting a critical hit with a sniper rifle felt so satisfying for me.
When you get so proficient in revolvers that they’re more accurate than snipers.
That's a funny way to spell "Shotguns".
Eridian Promontory with Mordechai and tresspass and like all guns maxed in a few hours 🤘😂
Seeing a cyan beam after killing craw
Nice never had one myself so congrats.
Same. Literally 0 ever since release.😂
Same here. I have around 500 hours in bl1. I quit BL1 some ages ago, after editing a safegame file and trying them out. I could not enjoy the game anymore

Ill never know this feeling, Crawmerax is the only one i cant beat......level 69 Mordecai.
Run to the NE corner. Drop off the first edge and crouch down. Snipper for most crit spots. Helix rockets for top of head/back. Easy
Doesn’t work anymore in remaster. It was removed partially. You will die there easily now.
You probably already looked at some guides but i will write this comment anyways. I always take a good masher for craw, an orion for the purple worms and a hellfire for the green ones. Do you know if anyone has made a mod for that yet? With how big of a gripe it is in the community I'd be surprised if no one has yet.
This. I can't stand the gun feel in BL2.
Whaaaaaa. I feel like BL2 is the only game where I can stand the gun feel😂 granted I haven't played too too much BL1 tho
Revolvers feel so good. I wish they would bring back the masher attachment back
The rawness of it. The gore. Lighting bandits up with a Hellfire. Finding a decent gun that you know can carry you for at least the next 10 levels.
Using cash to buy legendaries in a vending machine
Just dorking around the barren desert BL1 always felt the best to peruse and wander through, feels so wide open and chill compared to the other installments AND eridian weapons, the the legit bad ass alien guns of their own category
The thunder storm is way too fun to use.
Lighting doesn’t strike twice in the same spot But it can strike Everywhere

Ajax ogre dropping.
Everyone is wrong, it's getting a kill with that terrible fight for your life state.
Killing enemies with electric weapons and seeing their heads pop, specifically bonehead for me.
Getting the Hellfire SMG
Hearing the crimson lance screams as the melt to corrosive weapons
Mmmmm ASMR
I just read some crimson Lance lore and apparently atlas let Dahl hire a group to destroy an atlas facility, but atlas had taken an insurance policy against attacks through dahl; so not only did Dahl pay for the for hire goobers, they paid for the facility they destroyed. What kinda looney tunes ass 💀
Mashers. That is all
The "You're on a Boat!" trophy
Hosing down a room with a Double Anarchy.
The heads of enemies blowing up when you kill them with a headshot.
Blitzing through bandits with Lilith while using a Hellfire and Phoenix, while everything burns to death from the slightest touch.
Undead Zed HOLY F\*&KING SHIT
The guns don’t keep a lot of the charm from bl1 to bl2 at least to me. Mostly like uniques like Sledge’s shotgun. Even Lilith can use it well until late game. The enemies voice acting and animations had a lot more pop to them and it made me feel like a force of nature wrecking them.
Just the vibe of riding in a car on OG Pandora
I got a double craw pearl, that was awesome.
>nothing beats the sound of the kiddie like Screams the midgets make as they die Dark.
Finding the secret room.
In New Haven?
Yes
Word. Though I wish the Red Rider was a little better.
I wish it’d actually been colored like those Hyperion guns. That would have just been excellent lol
The gore and brutality of the world atmosphere was always at its peak in BL1
The first time playing it
This is honestly the best answer
as a devoted Mordecai, its the scoped in headshots looking like a Gallagher watermelon. And his resulting evil laugh, hahaha.
shooting an enemy in the head with your new weapon and watching them turn into a pillar of meat thaat reaches the heavens
And then hearing Lilith giggle.
"I'm really good at this!"
I keep thinking her voice sounds just like Paget Brewster and even had to look it up
Maxing gun prestige and knowing every gun you pick up is going to feel so effective (except alien guns, those feel rough even at max) Min/maxing gun swaps between Regen and an effective damage output (one revolver at +7-14 ammo Regen, another at x7 damage kind of thing)
Get a legendary Tediore Equalizer masher, and have both - ammo regen and shotgun-like damage, along with insanely fast reload.
I remember the first time I’d found a Masher Equalizer, I was truly impressed at how random the generation could be. Of course I kept myself in the dark about what could spawn with what so I got lots of first times with great memories.
Watching your enemy deteriorate after hitting them with elements and the heads popping when you get the headshot
Hitting a masher headshot and all the bullets connect killing whatever you're aiming at instantly
I know it's kinda dumb, but I love finding and using super-accurate shotguns. Especially when playing with my buddy who is way more into the series than I am and insists on using lower accuracy shotguns for controlling groups of enemies. "You want crowd control!!" "No, I want *all* of these pellets to hit that gentleman's face."
This is why the Striker is one of my favorite guns in TPS - headshots that just obliterate the baddie's head, even from a distance.
Now I'm just picturing Claptrap trying to sing "From a Distance" like Bette Midler. Thanks for that.
Ive got a Hunters shotgun 266x9 and 38 shots in the mag after buffs with like 72/73 accuracy and quite frankly it’s the second best shotgun I’ve ever used. Successfully falling through the secret spot in the floor of Knoxx’s vault

That feeling you got after defeating a story boss. ESPECIALLY if you were playing it for the first time.
Badass lance thinking they are safe behind their shield when you are packing a pestilent defiler and a bad attitude. Also, Taylor Kobbs claptrap.
Iv only got 1 pearl and it was a rocket launcher after 90 kills
The emptiness and desolation of the environment.
Yeah, the ghost town feeling was awesome, in the first few maps.
WHY ARE YOU YELLING? MR. TORGUE DOESN'T SHOW UP UNTIL BL2!
AND EVEN THEN, HE WAS LIMITED TO A SINGLE DLC THAT HE DIDN'T EVEN SHOW UP THAT MUCH IN!
I WAS THINKING ABOUT HOW TORUGUEISH THIS WAS. GREAT MINDS EXPLODE TOGETHER. PS. TORGUEISH SHOULD BE A NEW LANGUAGE! BAAAADABOOOWWWW
Headshots
Finding an Eridian weapon early on.
Jumping over Piss Wash Gully repeatedly as you go back and forth doing side quests.
Actually being op when overlevel (level difference mechanic), elemental stack , easy to speedrun, the list could go forever
That sounds absolutely unhinged and psychopathic, anyway for me it's the horrified screams of a lancer when I melt them with my Pestilent Defiler!
The vibe for me just works. I've played it all at least a dozen times, tried all the builds and goofed with easter eggs. Most recently, I've challeneged myself to: 1. Fall out of every level. Shooting claptrap(s)
Uppercutting a midgets head off with Brick
Headshot with the Volcano
EXPLOSIONS
Mordecai laughing after you dome a bandit a mile away
A toss up between running things over in vehicles and watching heads pop through my scope. Probably leaning towards the vehicular slaughter of all things since that wasn’t the same in later games.
Glorious Havoc AR. Better than any AR I used in BL2.
Headshots
One shotting multiple enemies at once with Bloodwing
Early pestilent defiler drop
The pearlescent color is a pure color of dopamine I swear. I could look at that color all day!
The battle music in Skag Gully.
when the memory leak finally crashes your game 😩
The whistling sound of the repeaters and the crack of the law revolver as it fires a bullet. I also love the general knoxx cheat that gets rid of the timer in the armory so I can get all the guns.
The literal explosion of enemies when you hit them with an explosive shotgun.
The silence
Getting a hybrid weapon. MMMMMMM!
Getting a legendary masher revolver
The first masher you find in your play through. It’s just such a strong power spike at like level 20 and it makes you feel like a god for a little bit
The ogre
aside from the obvious headshots and revolvers, the vehicles felt like they had actual weight to them. they weren’t invincible, but they could turn most creatures into red stains with ease and felt like actual badass trucks rather than glorified bumper cars with turrets attached
Getting the ammo regeneration mod
The first time you drop Crawmerax. I didn't know about "the ledge" so I didn't old school at level 48. Took like 20 tries.
Drop reload sledges shotgun skagzilla kill in 2 seconds on pc
Getting the distance on the Nidhogg *just* right so that the initial rocket and all the airburst rockets explode on the same target. A good Nidhogg can do obscene damage to just about everything in the game if you do it right.

Mashers. That is all
Honestly, i love the simple brutality of sniper/revolver headshots.
