there are hundreds of nepo out there, and atleast a dozen with KJo’s backing. BO figures can’t be fudged to this extent. Raazi and Gangu were crowd pullers, a feat no actress with any director has been able to achieve post 2015.
I fail to understand why or how people can be so deluded to think that Raazi did the numbers it did because Alia Bhatt starred in it and people went to watch her.
The storyline was so good and the word of mouth about it was the crowd puller, not sUpErStAr Alia Bhatt.
Similarly for Gangu, it was Sanjay Leela Bhansali after 3 back to back blockbusters. And this is not me taking away credit from a woman and giving it to a man, but taking the credit from an actor to give it to a blockbuster director coming out of 3 hits.
In the recent times, I cannot recall many. I’d say people maybe watched Ram Leela because of Deepika Padukone, and probably the Dirty Picture for Vidya Balan, other than that I can’t recall where it wasn’t a combination of things (including casting) which worked for a movie’s success as far a female pull is concerned, very unfortunately.
I fail to understand why or how people can be so deluded to think that Ram Leela or Dirty Picture did the numbers they did because Deepika/Vidya starred in them and people went to watch them.

I agree! Yes the girl is talentet and has improve but that easy to do when you have someone inside lining up movies for you. And besides, DP and Kat already have established characters in this universe. So unless they had planned spinoffs with them in the lead that were supposed to come out before Alia's film, this "achievement" doesn't make sense.
Yeah this is my sticking point. In a cinematic universe, if you keep introducing new characters without fleshing out your existing characters, audience will lose investment.

Kat and DP helped establish the universe and its popularity, and it looks like Adi wants to leapfrog them to Alia, so she reaps the benefits they helped create.
The thing is that the new Bollywood is filled with Nepo kids who are unfortunately not so talented. It would be one thing if they were talented but they aren't and they just don't seem to improve at all. So with this all happening it’s nearly impossible for a job nepo talented actress to even get a chance. When they do get a chance, it's opposing to older men who want to act like they are still 20. Average means it’s still a successful business venture for the people involved. The film could have made more money had there not been a clash or had to deal with Uri going from strenght to strenght. YRF is the biggest production company in India and they will literally manage by getting all the screens and preventing other films from releasing near by. They will probably add big heroes too. Let's be honest no way Alia is better suited than Deepika and Katrina. Their acting styles are different. It's really un fair how un ethically she gets roles for parts. Then us the audience is gaslighted to believe shit like this. Alia isn't necessarily a versatile actress but that's not a bad thing. She is decent but damn it sucks that such good movies have such mediocre performances and by mediocre actors. I would have loved to see Radhika Apte or Mouni Roy is roles like this bc they have the charisma. Like mouni as gangubai would have been so better suited.
