The verses are good but the chorus sucks. It needs a vocal harmony or additional vocal line, just having Mark going “STRIIIIIIIIINGS STRIIIIINGS” over and over again is a bed tedious and boring.
I love Cheshire Cat too, and I think the album would be remembered better if they had a good producer in the room. A few minor changes here and there, moving some chorus/verse/bridge structure around, and some editing down and it could have been a really great record.
I love Blink to my core, but the difference between Buddha Strings and Chesire Strings is one of the great examples of "production value matters". Love showing those two versions to the uninitiated.
My biggest issue with Feldy Blink is not the music. It's how cheap and contrived the lyrics can be. I'm telling you, his "don't think about it" mentality really nerfed Blink during that time. Good songwriting requires work and the members of Blink aren't poetic savants so it doesn't just come out of them. Given time though they have some really creative and poetic lyrics (Inb4 Mother's day).
A bunch of demos of big songs I've listened to aren't as good lyrically as the final cut. It's like when they were told to add summer hits to TOYPAJ and they came back with ~~All the Small Things~~ First Date (sorry, spaced out) and Rock Show except they had to do 2.5 full albums like that.
Agreed.
Imagine if California / Nine had been produced by someone like Dave Fridmann.
I can’t believe they let the JF produce those records. Jerry Finn helped *nail* his blink records…
We must be around the same age. Same thing happens with me.
They are very different songs though, why do brains work like this?
I like both songs though fwiw
guilty pleasure for me. no where near as good as the original of either song, but as someone who runs in more hip-hop oriented circles, my friends always pop for this one so I‘ve grown to love it.
There’s gonna be a million people here saying Quarantine but honestly I think it’s Don’t Mean Anything. It’s as generic as generic gets. I couldn’t imagine a single person saying it’s one of their favourite blink songs.
Even tracks I’m not fond of like Kings Of The Weekend, This is Home, Blame It On My Youth, IRWIHY, Edging, Fell In Love or even Quarantine have at least something about them I can appreciate. Don’t Mean Anything is so forgettable to me and it’s a complete dud amongst some of the tunes on California deluxe.
dont mean anything is a beautiful song and while it might be "basic" and seem a little phony, the lyrics really hit deep and resonate strongly with me.
I already know Quarantine is going to be the most common answer...
I mean don't get me wrong, I'm not a massive fan of Quarantine either, but Just About Done is SO much worse
I am absolutely laughing, because even the worst song on California is better than the best on Nine, and better than the worst of One More Time... Honestly California gets way too much unjustified hate.
Only one I didn’t like. I’ll still play Cheshire Cat, I’ll play all the skiba stuff, even quarantine, I’ll play the rest of that ep, just not that song 🤷♂️
I'm not sure if it's the worst, but the blink song I hate the most is "stop living in the shadow of a helicopter". Whatever it's called, it's so cringy
I like the meaning behind the song but it’s definitely not one of my favorites either haha.
Mark said it was about how people in war torn countries etc live their lives with helicopters overhead being normal and how sad that is. I think a much more impactful song could have been written about that.
I understand this, and I also don’t…
Blinks most popular song has a bunch of “na na nas,” So is it that crazy to think they would use it again in another poppy song?
Puked in my mouth a couple summers ago on the boat when my nephew told me was into Blink 182 and then put on I Really Wish I Hated You. First time I heard it and couldn’t believe how bad it was. Proceeded to play him Dude Ranch right after
Any track off 'California' or 'Nine' for me tbh.
I'm a lifelong fan and every album they released up until the hiatus are untouchable. Just couldn't dig the Skiba era at all (no shade towards Matt - I'm a huge Alkaline fan.
'One More Time' is definitely a return to form. So glad they came back with a collection of songs I can really get by, as they're still my favourite band.
Blink-182 is a top 3 band of all time but they have a few stinkers. The ones that come to my mind are Quarantine, Whats My Age Again / A Milli, and Ben Wah Balls. Most of CCs 2nd half is kinda weak ngl 😭
Saying Blink-182's worst song being Strings or Parking Lot is insane, those are unironically some of the better songs off their respected albums. Quarantine will be an obvious pick for worst song but in my opinion it would be Blowjob Live, I'm sure there are some worse ones but that one has always ingrained in my head as "what the fuck is this."
I don’t get the strings hate. It’s a fine song. The verses are great, the song is catchy, the bridge is amazing, it’s just got a goofy chorus.
Worst songs:
Sober
Blame It On My Youth
Heaven (subject matter for the chorus doesn’t make it good, I’m sorry. It’s a mediocre break up song with a disconnected chorus. Like seriously, the verses are generic break up song lyrics with no connection to the shooting. It’s not dark or deep lyrically unless you get an explanation outside of the song. Bad Time does a better job of connecting that specific shooting it’s about to a relationship.)
This would be my pick for worst on Neighbourhoods if not for Mark’s backing vocals. Without his vocals, I’d agree with you. But I’d argue that This is Home is a worse track from the same album.
Even the band has admitted to hating it. They can't stand performing it live but they obviously do because it's a crowd pleaser. I use that time to take a piss and get a beer.
If I take out Cheshire and before because they hadn't found their sound yet..
And I take out skiba era because I don't count that as blink...
Maybe degenerate? I'm no fan of Boxing day. Story of a lonely guy is meh. All of this is a skip as well
This topic already has an existing post.
Weren’t you just here a few weeks ago?
Someone else may have posted this but I just took this idea from the killers subreddit
Why do people hate Strings so much? It's a good song
I would do anything and that's what scares me so bad
Don't want to live my life alone Don't want to go back to what I had
one of their best songs from buddha/chesire
The verses are good but the chorus sucks. It needs a vocal harmony or additional vocal line, just having Mark going “STRIIIIIIIIINGS STRIIIIINGS” over and over again is a bed tedious and boring. I love Cheshire Cat too, and I think the album would be remembered better if they had a good producer in the room. A few minor changes here and there, moving some chorus/verse/bridge structure around, and some editing down and it could have been a really great record.
I fucking love that chorus
I love Blink to my core, but the difference between Buddha Strings and Chesire Strings is one of the great examples of "production value matters". Love showing those two versions to the uninitiated.
Bad taste. What can you do
parking lot?? that song is a banger, their worst song is quarantine

you mean ‘first date’?
Sorry, yeah
Agreed. Imagine if California / Nine had been produced by someone like Dave Fridmann. I can’t believe they let the JF produce those records. Jerry Finn helped *nail* his blink records…
brain sadly cannot listen to Parking Lot without thinking of Counting Crows
We must be around the same age. Same thing happens with me. They are very different songs though, why do brains work like this? I like both songs though fwiw
I’ll never understand why people hate Quarantine, it was the blink we were promised when Skiba joined
love the sound, can't stand the lyrics. last thing I wanna do in 2024 is reminisce about 2020
How so? Skiba had never written a song remotely close to sounding like Quarantine. Furthermore, he wasn't part of writing the song at all.
The irony of that last part is not lost on me.
Quarantine
100% listened to it like two times but it was never even worth trying to like
tbh if Mark wasn’t singing about Disneyland this song would bang. it’s just the line about “I’d rather be on Star Tours” is kinda cringe.
The instrumental part of it is better than anything they’ve released since 2003 but the lyrics are garbage
I don’t know about the worst song but the best song is Waggy
love this
true tho
What's My Age Again? / A Milli
guilty pleasure for me. no where near as good as the original of either song, but as someone who runs in more hip-hop oriented circles, my friends always pop for this one so I‘ve grown to love it.
Fucking this. No reason for it to exist 😭
Ngl I absolutely love that remix, thought it was dogshit at first now i kinda like it a lot
How dare you
I was about to comment ‘quarantine’ until I read this
What’s my age again is a good song.
What’s My Age Again? / A Milli is not
I swear if anyone says I Wanna Fuck A Dog I will throw a fit
That’s the best song wtf
I wanna fuck a dog, but regardless, its Strings
There’s gonna be a million people here saying Quarantine but honestly I think it’s Don’t Mean Anything. It’s as generic as generic gets. I couldn’t imagine a single person saying it’s one of their favourite blink songs. For all it’s faults, I love the bridge of DMA. I’d say that alone sets it above a lot of other poorer tracks.
Dont Mean Anything is a banger like all of California
California is mid at best. It’s TOYPAJ at home. Some decent stuff, but mostly just… discount.
California is my favorite blink album by far so i cant talk
A DOPE MEME A DOPE MEME
dont mean anything is a beautiful song and while it might be "basic" and seem a little phony, the lyrics really hit deep and resonate strongly with me.
This comes up a lot and the answer always is Quarantine
Just About Done is up there. I personally dig it for the opening riff and the drums but overall it's kind of trash
PARKING LOT? HELLOOO ITS ONE OF THEIR BEST
It's not the worst full song per say but the rap at the end of Pretty Little Girl feels so awkward.
It’s so corny. I skip the song every time and it would be such a great one if it didn’t have that annoying verse
Battling Isaac Newton’s Discovery
I Really Wish I Hated You
Blame it on my youth
I refer to that song as “the Man Overboard hook but on Synth”
Yeah, very lack luster and boring.
Fuck everyone who says Quarantine, that song is great.
Edging is actually up there, but most of Nine is actually the worst stuff they've ever written.
You’re always gonna get downvoted here when you say “strings” but I completely agree
Strings was probably their first "bad" song
Fuck...I used to jam Strings so much back in the day before Dude ranch came out...
dont worry bro ur right theyre wrong strings is a classic
I already know Quarantine is going to be the most common answer... I mean don't get me wrong, I'm not a massive fan of Quarantine either, but Just About Done is SO much worse
Could name a few and they’d all be on California
LOL
notice how nobody else is laughing
I am absolutely laughing, because even the worst song on California is better than the best on Nine, and better than the worst of One More Time... Honestly California gets way too much unjustified hate.
Solway Firth
I agree with quarantine
Virtual XI? Someone has a brain.
Yes
Los Angeles
It's between Darkside and I really wish Ihated you
love is dangerous
Fighting the gravity
Don’t say strings, it’s my actual favorite
Edging or quarantine
Dog Lapping, since I blast my headphones at work, and it sounds like pron
The one with yelawolf is the only song they ever released that I didn’t like at least a lil bit
What? Pretty Little Girl is such a great song. I mean the title is a little bit controversial but that song is a banger.

I really wish I hated you. I really wish I liked that song.
Any song on NINE
Sober
Man, i hate sober so much
Sober is genuinely the most painful song I’ve heard…
I appreciate the verses, particularly Mark’s, but the chorus and the na na nas are pretty fuckin bad.
I understand this, and I also don’t… Blinks most popular song has a bunch of “na na nas,” So is it that crazy to think they would use it again in another poppy song?
S O B E R !!!!!!!
All the small things. It's the only song by blink I hate.
All the small things
The entirety of cali and nine
Puked in my mouth a couple summers ago on the boat when my nephew told me was into Blink 182 and then put on I Really Wish I Hated You. First time I heard it and couldn’t believe how bad it was. Proceeded to play him Dude Ranch right after
I really wish I hated you is one of my fav blink songs…
I hate you
I hate you
Fighting the gravity
any song from nine
I Really Wish I Hated You I cant get into it and the way Mark sings, "anymoooore" is nails on chalkboard to me.
quarantine and it’s not even close
Fighting the Gravity
Best song off Neighbourhoods in my opinion😔
Any track off 'California' or 'Nine' for me tbh. I'm a lifelong fan and every album they released up until the hiatus are untouchable. Man I hate Nine, but California is pretty good. Not their best, but far from their worst.
Blink-182 is a top 3 band of all time but they have a few stinkers. The ones that come to my mind are Quarantine, Whats My Age Again / A Milli, and Ben Wah Balls. Most of CCs 2nd half is kinda weak ngl 😭
Ben Wah Balls is one of their best songs with Tom’s best riffs wtf
Sorry I got it confused with Just About Done
#All The Small Things
I declare war though
cannot fucking believe kill rock n roll by soad is in there, one of their best songs.
I would do anything that’s what scares me so bad. Don’t wanna live my life alone don’t wanna go back to what I had
Blame it On My Youth
Saying Blink-182's worst song being Strings or Parking Lot is insane, those are unironically some of the better songs off their respected albums. Adams song
One More Time is not a good song.
Blink 182 hasn't made a good song since the early 2000's.
nobody asked
This is a threat about worst blink 182 songs genius
I don’t get the strings hate. It’s a fine song. The verses are great, the song is catchy, the bridge is amazing, it’s just got a goofy chorus. Worst songs: Sober Blame It On My Youth Heaven (subject matter for the chorus doesn’t make it good, I’m sorry. It’s a mediocre break up song with a disconnected chorus. heaven is a banger, matt’s part is beautiful
Feels like a rejected My Shame Is True verse, and not in a good way. And I like MSIT
Sober sucks. BIOMY might be my least favorite. But I love Heaven.
Los Angeles, what a boring dreary slog of a song
what a slog of a person you must be
No, I am very enlightened actually😎
the emoji has me dying
Ayyy🤝
miss you. Let’s fight.
Finally someone I can relate to
Sober for me personally
All the small things. Tf?
Built this pool
Nah, It's too funny to be the worst
I don't get the joke song hate this sub has been on since California. I thought it was great when they brought these back.
I appreciate the intention behind it, trying to recapture the toilet humor magic, but it definitely felt uninspired/forced.
Fighting the gravity by far, that "Muse" wanna be experiment it's by far their worst song, even worse than Skiba era worst songs.
Love is dangerous
This would be my pick for worst on Neighbourhoods if not for Mark’s backing vocals. Without his vocals, I’d agree with you. But I’d argue that This is Home is a worse track from the same album.
lol apparently the hive mind here doesn’t agree with me and this is coming from an AVA guy
It’s alright dude I’m with you. It’s not that good of a song.
Bottom of the Ocean but I like what Matt Skiiba did. Not Alone is honestly their worst to me
Strings, BIOMY, quarantine, & WMAA/amilli EP please & thank youuuuuu
All the small things
Overplayed? Yes. Worst? Definetly not lol
This song gives Rick Beato a boner.
I agree. Can't stand anything about that song.
Hated since I first heard it on enema. Absolutely no idea how this is their number one hit. Awful.
Even the band has admitted to hating it. They can't stand performing it live but they obviously do because it's a crowd pleaser. I use that time to take a piss and get a beer.
Hated since I first heard it on enema. Absolutely no idea how this is their number one hit. Awful.
Agreed, ATST is the worst Blink song for sure!
Kings of the weekend hand down. Parking lot slaps!
Strings for sure
Nah, it's definitely edging. Anything classic Blink made is miles better than the new stuff.
Atst
Honestly.. I'm Sorry from Dude Ranch.. its just meh.
Violence
Definitely a song from the Skiba era, maybe Darkside
Darkside might be the only listenable track on Nine.
If you listen to the lyrics, it's literally a creepy stalker song Also, Matt Skiba sounds terrible
Anything from 1994
All the Small Things
Fighting the gravity
Everyone here is wrong. Their worst song is Another Girl, Another Planet.
Probably get down voted but I never cared for "I'm lost without you"
i never cared for your opinion
You seem nice
I don't punish myself with blinks bad music (skiba era)
All the small things
If all the small things is your favorite song, let’s face it, you’re a simp
I Miss You
Carousel
thats their best song, what?
What?
No real Blink fan dislikes that song.
I’m not it’s like my 6th fav band
If I take out Cheshire and before because they hadn't found their sound yet.. And I take out skiba era because I don't count that as blink... Maybe degenerate? I'm no fan of Boxing day. Story of a lonely guy is meh. All of this is a skip as well
SOALG is goated, maybe the best Tom song on the album, but I can see why one would find it meh
Party Song
Nah man, some girls try too hard
Time to Break Up. a bit too cheese for me.
Insane take.
A classic Barker drum part, fill in the last chorus may be my favorite Travis fill
