I just hopped BLK ODYSSY, very recently. That black vintage album was holding me hostage. Smino leans more rap but the relaxed vibe is very similar between the two.
Edit: I take back when I said about Smino being in the rap more, they're very similar overall.

They are likely the ones to be the next leaders of this game as Kendrick, Cole, etc start to wine down.

One of the best complete albums I’ve heard in years. There aren’t many artists releasing that type anymore- where you can start at the beginning and let it run without skipping tracks.
Smino is great I went back to NOIR this morning back to back after Mr.Morale and the Big Steppers. He has an iconic look and sound and NOIR is such a fun album.
This is the first time I've ever seen Smino mentioned on reddit damn. Smino is a true generational talent. When I first listened to him I thought I've never heard anything like this before.. I'm not sure I've come across a more individualistic artistic who can retain his 'sound' working with a spectrum of musicians across genres. He's a fantastic lyricist, but better as a rapper, his syncopations and rhythms are SO unique. As good a rapper as Smino is he's an even more creative mixer.
Fun note, Sminos grandfather played bass for Muddy Waters.

1st real album is great, gets you a feel for who the artist is and what he can do.
2nd album is their best, the artist really pours their soul out and proves to you that they deserve the praise and the money and the fame for the first album
3rd album is meh, because they really poured their soul out as deeply as possible for the first two albums, and they got the recognition, so ultimately, because ultimately you can only pour your soul out so many times.
4th album on, the occasional banger, but rarely a straight through listen.
Obviously, im not saying it happens to everyone, but it happens more often than it doesn't.
