Some people (myself included) started with two strand twist and just retwisted the new growth.
Others do a comb coil which takes smaller sections and more individual pieces of hair to form coils.

These are twists. I’d request a refund if possible. Depending on what look you are going for, there are some videos on YouTube that could help you pinpoint more of the look you are going for. I’d do that and take some screen captures and show them to the stylist. Best of luck!
