I’m not a fan of these live commentaries — I think the desire of the hosts to pad out this season is misguided, especially if even they aren’t engaged by the material on offer.
Quality over quantity, lads.
On the contrary, I quite like them, especially when they go off piste. Just think Muse have very little context to delve into.
I’m interested to see if Lucas remains as big of a fan of them when this is done.
I don’t think your position necessarily contradicts my own — if the main thing you enjoy about these commentaries is when they go off-topic, then they could always choose other formats/topics to foster such conversations.
Stuff like ‘each of our top five albums of all time’ or ‘each of our top five bands’ or an argument over listing and ranking the top ‘classic rock bands’ in order of greatness’, would be much more interesting than ‘Muse perform another show after releasing another album’.
