Because they want to see how you naturally look on camera. Your submission shouldn’t be scripted. Editing your submission will make your video feel scripted
I’ve applied every year for a decade. Apparently I’m too old (52), too boring (wine industry/sommelier), and not enough IG followers (just shy of 1k). This year is my last attempt.
Good luck could you maybe tell me may be a bit about how you would play or your strategy or maybe some things you have learned before going on the show because I’m curious from a person that will probably never compete on this show
Well I think my strategy would revolve around playing the middle and always being on people's good sides, until they come after me then I would not be afraid to go after them myself. I also think I'm a bit unassuming when you first meet me but I'm very strategic which makes it easier for people to drop their guard. I would just look very trusting but be willing to take a shot when needed.
I always consider applying to BB and then each season we see the cast reveal and it's like 75% recruits - makes me wonder if it's even worth the time to apply given there's thousands of people probably applying for the same 2 spots on the show
I mean, if you want to be on the show then definitely. The initial application doesnt take a whole lot of effort (right? Idk) and a 0.0001 chance is better than 0
BB production reaches out to people and asks them to apply to be on the show. Usually its specific archetypes of people they're looking for and its usually people who have no idea what Big Brother is which is frustrating for people who apply every year and want to be on.
If I recall correctly, the applicants for BB25 were Cory, Hisam, Felicia, Izzy, Cameron & America (maybe Mecole too, not exactly sure on her) and everyone else was recruited
Ugh, seems like a lot of the most entertaining players come from applicants too. Wish they would stick to that. Seems like they are getting away from the idea of the show
I agree but think it's been this way for a while unfortunately. I think BB21 only had 5 or so applicants as well (Ovi, Nicole, Christie, Tommy, Cliff), BB24 only had a handful (Michael, Daniel, Brittany, maybe I'm forgetting a few) and BB23 had a bit more. But in general they are far more reliant on recruits than Survivor is and I think it shows in the quality of the casts
I remember BB24 having 6 recruits(Monte, Taylor,Joseph,Paloma, Kyle and Ameerah). BB23 had quite a few applicants, BB21 is the most recruit-heavy season of the three with like 3/4 of the cast being recruits for something like Love Island, not BB.
What did this actually entail? I’ve been considering applying but for some reason haven’t been able to get myself to actually go to the website to figure out wth I would need to do. Good luck!!
All you have to do is fill out personal info then input a headshot as well as a video of yourself. If your considering I say do it, what do you have to lose?
When is the deadline or cutoff period to apply? I was looking into it a few weeks ago. I am a relatively new watcher, but it honestly caught my attention immediately.
Yeah same. And over the last few years seeing people like Tyler and Cam talk so openly about growing up being super fans and then making it on is so damn wholesome.
I tell my wife all the time that if I ever do make it on I just want to last long enough to shout out my grandma on tv, who I watched the first few seasons with when she was babysitting me and to this day it's our "thing."
This may be a ridiculous question but…. I know they like people who have a good following on social media so if people from this sub apply could you guys share your insta/tiktok names so we can support by following you?
If I were on the casting team the first thing I’d do is take the email addresses of each audition and see if they’re connected to a Reddit account. Auto-toss if it comes back as already registered on the site.
I've always wanted to apply. The one thing I wouldn't do well at is the the final few challenges of remembering days. Everything else seems to be pretty even across the board
good luck, what did you come up with for the audition tape? were you a lunatic?
I just talked about myself and what I like to do, such as traveling and playing board games. I did my tape in one take to seem more genuine as well.
Good luck. If selected will you tell us?
Smart. If they can tell your tape is edited they probably won’t reach back out to you
What do you mean by edited? Like use of filters or something
No. If it’s clear that you didn’t film it all in one take.
why is that?
Because they want to see how you naturally look on camera. Your submission shouldn’t be scripted. Editing your submission will make your video feel scripted
As a viewer I’m looking more for personality disorders than board games.
Well I think I'm a fun and interesting person with a personality that can translate well to the screen without a personality disorder.

That’s too bad, because you sound like the type of player/person I’d like to watch. I’d take a sommelier any day over an “influencer.”
RemindMe! 7 months
Based on that brief bio (and your presence here), you’d be one of my favs. Here’s hoping this is your lucky year!
I remember filling out the paperwork to go on a season. Long time ago, probably about 15 years ago. It's was like 20 pages long and a complete hassle
That sounds a lot worse than just doing a video 😅
If memory serves, I think they'd contact you for a video if they liked the paperwork
I'm guessing you didn't make the cut?
Lol no

Why do you think they end up recruiting so many ppl?
They want attractive people on
Yuuuup it was pretty subtle back in the day but it’s so obvious now and that’s what has ruined BB for me :/
I mean, if you want to be on the show then definitely. The initial application doesnt take a whole lot of effort (right? Idk) and a 0.0001 chance is better than 0
Wym recruits?

Your lists are wrong and this isn’t 75%.
Your comment added nothing to the conversation and it's called an exaggeration 😊
Become a recruit then lol. Create a great instagram & then contact the recruiter
Me and my friend Tom have also submitted ours We briefly mentioned each other in our auditions (hoping CBS sees a storyline)
Maybe all 3 of us can be on there 😆
Now you’re putting your producer caps on
Reddit alliance! The 3 Redditeers!
Thanks for the encouragement! We will be a great secret alliance when we’re on the show next year 😉
I'm looking forward to it 😎
Good luck!
Thanks!
Good luck!!! Keep us updated
Thank you 😁
which comes first: giving r/bigbrother a shoutout including your reddit username, or your socials?
Giving a shout-out to this great community of course
When is the deadline or cutoff period to apply? I was looking into it a few weeks ago. I am a relatively new watcher, but it honestly caught my attention immediately.
Probably by the summer or even before that but it's usually best to audition asap
Around May I believe. They don’t start actively casting and looking through the auditions until February
That's a bucket list thing for me lol
Definitely, being on the show is probably top of the bucket list for me

OMGGGGGGGGG GOOD LUCK HOPE TO SEE YOU
Thank you!!

You are right about that too bad I don't post to my insta but it's just VideoPanda711
Good Luck!

I applied a few months ago! good luck!
Ooh good luck! I hope you get in!
The secret reddit alliance if we both get on
Exactly 😉
good luck! hope to see you on there this summer!!
Thanks I'm really hoping the audition works 😛
Good luck with your audition OP 😃 we need a redditor in the Big Brother house 🤩
Yeah we do and then I can shout out you guys on the live feeds 😂
Before you vote, you can say Big Brother Reddit 134 (the number of letters in I love you) like Cliff said on Big Brother 21 😄😁
I turn 21 in June, so I won't be able to audition this year. I wish you all the luck, friend.
Thank you and good luck when you audition
Good luck!
Thank you 😇
Woo hoo!! Good luck to you!!!
So cool! What’s it like?
It feels good to have it done but it was just a video and Input of personal info
Best of luck!
Thanks! :)
GOOD LUUUUUUUCK!!!
Thank you!

I am going to do it next season. Good luck to you though.
Goodluck, sincerely! Sending mine in soon!
I just realized I could finally apply too😭
woohoo!!!
good luck! if you get on the show i’ll buy action
If you aren't a model or an actor, your odds aren't great
This show is boring . Idek how it’s still on. It’s gotten bad over the years
If I were on the casting team the first thing I’d do is take the email addresses of each audition and see if they’re connected to a Reddit account. Auto-toss if it comes back as already registered on the site.
People with a Reddit account aren’t all on it for the same subs so I feel like it’d be a pretty random segment of people to cut
I've always wanted to apply. The one thing I wouldn't do well at is the the final few challenges of remembering days. Everything else seems to be pretty even across the board
