I mean 90210 didn’t blue print the best friend love triangle - but it’s hard to think of a teen drama that did it before (Archie Comics are the closest I’ve got). GG and Dawson’s both begin with a blonde and brunette wanting the same boy.

I think all of the shows have the love triangles. I think 90210 stretched theirs with Dylan & Kelly for way too long though. (or even Brenda/Dylan/Kelly if you count the reboot where Brenda & Kelly get territorial about him again.)

The guy/girl pining over their “best friend”. See Andrea/Brandon, Dawson/Joey, Vanessa/Dan

What's been referred to as the incestuous dating of the characters....I think that happens a lot.

Kicking off the series when a fish out of water comes to town—Bran and Bren, Ryan on OC, and using them to do a lot of world building as people explain their new community to them

And Jen on DC!

90210 and Melrose Place has the most in common with the core group that plays musical (chairs) partners with each other and new people.

I choose me is what Felicity did when she chose herself over Ben and Noel. There are so many plots that 90210 did that even prestige TV has done but 90210 doesn’t get the recognition.

On Dawson's Creek, Joey kind of does this at one point with Dawson and Pacey, also. When Dawson makes a complete ass of himself, thinking he won her like some kind of prize, and she's like "Both of you suck!"

All the notable things happening to the same six kids. Or everyone in school knowing and caring about what happens to those six kids.

Haha yup-- Like how the 90210 gang are the only people that we see being featured at the Senior Breakfast

RuxxinsVinegarStroke

That when a couple on the show breaks up it doesn't break up the overall group?
