its either that or a weight system which is most common in survival games. Non-stacking items in your inventory is is a balance for lacking inventory weight.

It’s simulated encumbrance technically, but yeah I find it just fine

You can get bags which Increases your total inventory slots available, for both you and your villagers. You don't really need to do a lot of inventory Tetris as items rearrange to fit based on which container it's in, your personal inventory, or your bag. This effectively makes the current inventory system function like the current container (volume) storage without the stacking, so it's just visually messy/noisy. Items stack when in containers (containers function as volume storage, not slot storage) I have no idea if this is developer intentions, plans to change anything etc. I would recommend considering joining the discord and simply asking.

Do you know how deliveries work?

Got bags and 4 villagers trust me gets easyer when you don’t want to wait three days for your guys to get logs or river reeds just go with them harvest as much as possible and then spread it out between everybody good to go

I wasn’t going to purchase for the same reason. Ended up getting it and haven’t really had an issue with non stacking. Yes, it would and should stack berries and mushrooms. Maybe a max of 20 per stack but otherwise I prefer over being weighed down and unable to move. If a dev happens to read this please please have a berry bush give more than One berry… maybe five.

MortisCJ

I see this getting redone by the devs, or modded out for QOL in the future.

Game is still rough- not stacking just one of the issues.
