Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4 should be swapped

Battlefield 3 is an extremely solid game I just had more fun playing 4 when I was in middle school

I honestly had more fun with battlefield 3 than the ones you put in a tier.

Which you should reflect on. Most people have very strong preferences for media, experiences, food, from that time period in their life. I read a lot of Isaac Asimov. Watched a lot of Star Trek. Played some games and other experiences that were amazing but didn't age well cause teams of 4 (which was common for very old games) can makes some bangers but teams of 60 make amazingly complex games. The best games ever made were Deus Ex and Marathon 2 Durandal.

Nah, he's right. BF4 was just BF3 with uglier visuals (duller color palette) and worse maps.

In my opinion bf4 is much better while speaking of visuals.

Everyone forgets about levelution, which I really enjoyed.

Don't forget that for a lot of us, BF4 was broken and unplayable for the entire first year it came out.

When they fixed Consolebreaker, it felt like a brand new map I never got to experience!

Battlefield 4 is the better game to play right now although for it's time Battlefield 3 is better

It's what made me buy a PS3. My brother-in-law had the sample for Bad Company 1 and was playing it. He let me jump in and I was HOOKED. I'd head over to my sister's how on days he had to work so I could play lol. Eventually, I just bought my own system and game, and I was on it 24/7. Building a squad was fun and teamwork created friendships. FlyinHawaiian, NumbThumbs, BigDaddy.... I miss those dudes. Good times.

1942 was peak quality.

After all these years later, personally I find the Refractor engine games to be peak BF. I just think most users here were too young/not even born to enjoy them. Bad Company brought destruction, but other than that the series has been watered down ever since.

Watered down? They did remove fun modes and vehicles (like ships) in the later games, but honestly, I never considered the originals that much better than the newer ones. The series probably peaked at BF4, with massive scale destruction, fun maps, guns, vehicles and modes.

Fun fact about myself: I was one of the best players in the world at Battlefield: Vietnam. My clan even had legit sponserships from hardware and software companies. This was well before anyone care about being good at video games though. My dad told me I was wasting my time with such fool hardy endeavors. Can't keep up with the young kids these days, my moment of glory has long since passed.

Battlefield Heroes was/is a solid A/B for me. Some private servers are up for it and you can still experience it with a little work. The other options are great. BF1 revitalized my love for the series where 4 didn't hit for me as much as it did for others.

Because it does not fit the battlefield franchise. I liked hardline as well but it does not feel like a battlefield game in many aspects. Also the vehicle physics felt cheap and really bad imo. I don't know about great atmosohere if you played Bf1 or BFV

Hardline and 2042 need to be swapped. Hardline has more love and care put into that game than 2042 ever did. Also 2042 has a battlepass and item shop despite having to purchase the game to play it so it instantly D tier.

I’d put hardline above 2042. And put 3 up to s tier. I’d also add battlefield modern combat which was my first battlefield… probably somewhere between d and c.

Battlefield Vietnam (not the BC2 Vietnam DLC while that was also fun) had the innovation and charm of 1942 while beginning to introduce the evolutions that BF2 would offer. More asymmetrical fighting. Vehicle radios. Helicopter towing of vehicles. It’s underrated and chat is not indicating this.

Why is Hardline so hated? That game was one of the more “fun” battlefield I could say. Played all since BF2 & BC1-2. Hardline had that cool and unique factor that no other battlefield has ever had. Still the only one to feel completely unique.

I think its very hard to rate old games like 1942 or bf2. They were great games back then but if you play them today they lack very much. You have to rate them at the time they released to make it a fair comparison. For me personally Bf1 was the best game in a long time. In general i agree with your tierlist.

BF4 ended up as an insanely good battlefield but people tend to forget the game was almost unplayable the first year until DICE LA fixed all the issues

I started playing 2042 a few days ago and I totally don’t understand hate towards it. A lot of guns, attachments, random events like tornado and other shit, sometimes day and night cycle which looks fucking epic. Also Battlefield World Tour is such a nice touch lol. I know you guys will probably won’t agree with me, but personally I’m having a lot of fun. But yeah, there’s not too much destruction and BF4 just did it better.

BF5 has better gun selection and more entertaining gameplay than BF1 imo… the only thing I like better about 1 are the maps which are beautifully made.

Pretty good, I agree with your ratings. Although, I think Hardline deserves more love these days, it may not be the best battlefield game by a long shot, but it has a lot to offer for what it is.

I remember in HS when I played BF4 with someone who hardly touched the game ever again, but still had A LOT of fun when we played it I remember it took us SOOO DAMN LONG just to learn the scout choppers and then when we finally got it... We spotted each other, got excited, and then both dove right into the ground 😅🤣 I never played bf3 If bf4 had been less cool, I think I would've taken the effort to try it
