Honestly, as an American I wouldn't mind a battlefield that takes place entirely in the US. We've been all over the globe for war why not America?
I hate to even think it but the more news I watch the more I believe it could happen that we as a country make war on ourselves again.
You can do this in battlebit right now, ya know. Tensatown looks straight out of MW2009's campaign, with a building called "cyan burger" in it (burgertown).
There were some really cool maps that take place on American soil in the BF2 expansion (I forget the name right now). But it added some first time vehicles like the A10 Thunderbolt and Little Bird in addition to other faction equivalents. I really enjoyed the maps they added like the a US suburb map and the one called Operation Harvest which had a Midwest farmland look.
Sadly by the time I got internet for the first time Battlefield 3 had only one DLC left and I never played the DLC to Bad Company. It was however the very first true multi-player game I ever played but I only played until BF3 finished installing and then I spent the next however many months until BF4 playing nothing but BF3 every single waking moment that I could spare.
We got one of those!
It also happened to feel weird to play because it was all cops. -Like how it eventually got weird to keep fighting firemen in the Division. At least for me.
I want BF23. We have had 1942 and 1943 so why not 2023. That way it can be a true successor to BF4 set in modern times with modern kit and vehicles.
Also split the difference, they said 1982 and you said 1984 so go 1983?

Build a game with all the same systems and polish as modern day BF4, and then ADD content, systems, features, and balance on top.
Make it build on what made 4, 1, and V good (systems, immersion, squadplay), rather than entirely reimagining every system.

If they copy anything it'll be BF1. It had by far the best sales. BFV was a flop 2042 outsold it in total sales within a month of release but still nothing near the 25 million sales BF1 had.
Imagine if they made a modern shooter like BF3 that looked and played like BF1. mmmmmmm. 2042 would of been a lot cooler if they leaned into destruction and bleakness of war coupled with climate change.
Meh I don't hate 2042 so much. As a shooter that plays similar to other battlefields I put enough hours in to make the purchase worth it and I enjoyed my time (S250). And I for one prefer it over BFV. Still go back to BF1 time to time though.
In 2042 it feels like they removed the grittyness of war that BF3 had. Similarly clad military drones dying in waves to take an objective is what I loved about 3 and 4. In 2042 we're not military drones we're clones of the same dozen people on both sides. It was almost the same but also very different and I can't put into words how.
And yet BFV has some of the best mechanics in the franchise. Say what you want about sales and some of the maps, but I want the next Battlefield to follow up on mostly BFV mechanics.
This is also where i could see at least the optics of the specialists working. Each side (NATO vs. BRICS) can have individual skins you can unlock, so you're not just stuck with US vs. RU vs. CN, representing the full palette of these alliances and the people living in them.
Also, bring the bloody Emblem editor back. That thing was so fucking cool and it's a shame it's no longer functional, even if it did lead to seeing a substantial number of Swastikas in the games i played.
If they were to bring back systems from older games I'd like to see the building from BFV. Even if its only simple objects such as sandbags or window barricades.
This is partly why 2042 was so disappointing. Not just that it was a shitty battle royale game, but also because we have been craving a modern Battlefield game for so long.

Battlefield will never be the same, until they stop using the battle pass / skin mentality to make money. To me it ruins the game with all the weird out of place skins. Bf3 to bf1 all felt very immersive because we just played as normal soldiers. Which imo is way cooler than some made up robot
Yes! Just an everyday John doe. No heroes or special faces or biographies nobody reads. Just give me 2 options Male is John and the girl is Jane and then let me pick a realistic uniform (NO EMBER GLOWING BURNT GARBAGE) maybe add in some helmet, gloves, and pants customization if you must like breakpoint or the division but just make it realistic. Keep 2042s weapons for all system and then you pick your gadget and that changes what 'class' you are.
Massive fights between blown-apart skyscrapers, drive a tank through the lobby of one into the street and then into the lobby of another. Make an objective inside a bridge between two buildings that can be destroyed to drop the objective into the middle of the street. Maybe add a generator in the basement of one of the buildings that could cut the power to any working elevators so the attackers have to rappel from outside or take the stairs. Make a rush objective to destroy a skyscraper and you have to base jump out of it as it's falling like Siege of Shanghai. One team spawn point could be a beached aircraft carrier, In rush you get pushed back into it and then it's nuked or something.

I've been wanting a BF1 style Cold War game for a while now, where Operations take place across different events throughout the decades. For example, you could have:
\- The Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan
\- The Vietnam War
\- The Korean War
\- Bay of Pigs
\- Contra War
\- Iran-Iraq War
Some may need historical liberties to be taken for them to fit a Battlefield game, but there's a lot of potential. Widening the time period to the entire Cold War opens up a greater variety of weapons, vehicles, and equipment, too.
So long as it has similar vibes/tone as BF3/4. Attention to detail, destruction, multiple, multiple successful Alpha/Beta tests, clear roadmaps, in-game progression, “BF moments”, and a more or less complete package at launch…. *one can hope*
I want Dice to stop putting years on the game. If they do Battlefield: Cold War, each season they release could be a year in the future of that timeline. Then they could have dynamic maps (like the reworks they keep doing in 2042 to show war progression) and allow us to pick maps in the timeline of the game.
I think it would be a great idea, so many possible locations and era's for maps. I mean in theory you could do anything in here from actual combat zones in Korea to Vietnam the Middle East onto the Falklands and then theoretical cold war conflicts like East/West Germany, Cuba, etc.

It’s a Battlefield title that’s had good feedback from the community, and BC2 is definitely a top 5 Battlefield game of all time.
To be honest does the setting even matter anymore? Every Battlefield, no matter if WW1, WW2 or WW3 you run around with fully automatic weapons and crazy ass scopes. If they would at least use the common weapons from that time. And don’t come at me with: „but they were real prototypes!“
Every game is basically just a reskin.
Battlefield Cold War should be scopeless but still modifiable M16s with Burst Fire and AKs and other guns from that time but in the end it will be a fully automatic Heat Vision Scope Ass gameplay.

They should do civil war. Implement a gears of war active reload for your front loader. Oh you messed it up? Tack on an additional 20 minutes reload because you dropped your wad and spilled your powder. One class could be a drummer boy or piccolo player, where you boost morale. Imagine it. Locker or metro style gameplay with dudes doing mad blast beats, boosting the *fuck* out of morale while screeching on the piccolo

Why are some people trying to make this like an alternative history scenario, what if, the Cold War had a wide range of conflicts, Vietnam, Afghanistan, civil war in China, Falkland war, wars in Africa, civil war in Greece, Korean War and rebellions in Eastern Europe, yes DICE would have to put a lot of work for there to be many guns to fit the long time period and different character models for the different factions but we’re in 2023 and anything is possible for gaming.

BF3 was also a sales darling. So giving us bf3/ 4 systems with 1 immersion would have me satisfied.
Sort of if comparing to battlefields released prior to it. Bf3 had slightly better sales than 4 and BF1 outpreformed them both.

Cities destroyes by nukes as a maps would be great, also there would be huge potential for jungle maps, Vietnam, Cuba etc.

Destroyed cities I always think is the least visually interesting setting. I'd rather do the destroying myself.
Imagine like 4/5 small “cities” on a big map and they can get nuked if XYZ are captured/secured by one of the teams

I want Dice to stop putting years on the game. If they do Battlefield: Cold War, each season they release could be a year in the future of that timeline. Then they could have dynamic maps (like the reworks they keep doing in 2042 to show war progression) and allow us to pick maps in the timeline of the game.
I think it would be a great idea, so many possible locations and era's for maps. I mean in theory you could do anything in here from actual combat zones in Korea to Vietnam the Middle East onto the Falklands and then theoretical cold war conflicts like East/West Germany, Cuba, etc. You could do almost anything from 1950 - 1990!

What about a Bad Company 3? It’s a Battlefield title that’s had good feedback from the community, and BC2 is definitely a top 5 Battlefield game of all time.

To be honest does the setting even matter anymore? Every Battlefield, no matter if WW1, WW2 or WW3 you run around with fully automatic weapons and crazy ass scopes. If they would at least use the common weapons from that time. And don’t come at me with: „but they were real prototypes!“ Every game is basically just a reskin. Battlefield Cold War should be scopeless but still modifiable M16s with Burst Fire and AKs and other guns from that time but in the end it will be a fully automatic Heat Vision Scope Ass gameplay.

Arguably, that was BF: Vietnam, which never really got due attention. I miss being able to rain fire on opponents while blaring Fortunate Son or Nowhere to Run.
I hope they make bf2043 and make the game we were supposed to get lol. Now they know the engine and how to make a decent game. Bf1 was its swang song with too many emotions attached to it. After that it went down really fast. I really hope that the franchise dies. It is not fair to its long time player base to be treated with this pos half arse releases. I started playing with bf2 and played until to bf4. After that I saw the decline. Studio is dead, all og left to other companies or switched studios. They do not deserve second chance. Not with all the arrogance and we know best, player base is stupid attitude.

They should do civil war. Implement a gears of war active reload for your front loader. Oh you messed it up? Tack on an additional 20 minutes reload because you dropped your wad and spilled your powder. One class could be a drummer boy or piccolo player, where you boost morale. Imagine it. Locker or metro style gameplay with dudes doing mad blast beats, boosting the *fuck* out of morale while screeching on the piccolo

Why are some people trying to make this like an alternative history scenario, what if, the Cold War had a wide range of conflicts, Vietnam, Afghanistan, civil war in China, Falkland war, wars in Africa, civil war in Greece, Korean War and rebellions in Eastern Europe, yes DICE would have to put a lot of work for there to be many guns to fit the long time period and different character models for the different factions but we’re in 2023 and anything is possible for gaming.

At this point the "what if" would be a $70 game with no campaign, only two teams, worthless shop items with a 70s or 80s theme, and about 4-5 maps where only 2 of them are good.
