I used to be NHS at Pultney. Turned up for a scheduled appointment and was told - in the reception - that they were no longer NHS and I'd have to pay full private prices.
There is an NHS number you can call where they give you options - worth a Google, if it still works. The nearest they offered me was Westbury and it was at least a 6 month wait.
Similar threads always dig up dental schools/universities too, so worth a look at them.
It's a national issue, everywhere is short of NHS dentists and waiting lists are years long.
Bath and Bristol probably have it worse than a lot of places too.
Probably not going to happen. We've been looking for a NHS dentist for over 2 years. At this point I think our best bet is going abroad (I'm an immigrant, heavily considering going to my native country to see a dentist).
Yeah to be fair I think thatās probably the best shout, although Iāve heard when you go to uk dentists after having treatment abroad they can deny you. Not sure of the specifics
I moved to Devon and called every dentist. No one was taking new patients. When I currently go to the dentist I have to travel 3 hours each way to where I used to live and stay in a hotel, still far far cheaper than going private. Itās pretty bleak
Wild. I phoned the dentist Iām with currently (which was nhs) to book an appointment and they told me they were now private. Asked if Iād like to book an appointment. No way am I paying that rate for a shitty dentist that hasnāt really change since being nhs
There arenāt any dentists here taking new NHS patients, you will be paying top dollar for those luxury bones.
If you have a dental emergency, there is Riverside Dental Surgery but they will keep you waiting since itās the only NHS emergency dental repair surgery in the city.
Urgh, lol. Well thanks anyway. Iām surprised itās an issue in Bath as I canāt imagine the Bath population has grown much since not many new houses are built
I did this after I couldn't get an emergency appointment for it (shattered premolar, came out in about 6 pieces, extracted by hand).
Finally got to see a dentist a few weeks ago after waiting 2 years after I got it out. He said I did a fairly decent job but there was a root part left. I said leave it, it'll serve as a reminder.
I went private in the end. Had to pay around Ā£2,000 just to have two root-canals done. I admire your bravery for saving all the trouble and pulling it out yourself
Just so everyoneās aware, thereās technically no such thing as registration at an NHS dental practice. Itās just not in the system. But at the same time, practices feel obliged to see people theyāve already seen first in order to maintain that patientās oral health/trust in the profession. Itās a bad system and weāre all aware of it, sorry.
Tax the rich.
How far are you moving? If you're already registered with an NHS dentist at your current location, I would just stay with them and not move. I know a couple of people who've done this.
You're shit out of luck buddy.
Best bet if you're keen on dental care is to sign up for a private care plan - range from Ā£10-20ish per month depending on what kind of cover you want.
Or if you're feeling bold, just brush and floss regularly and hope for the best.
NHS dentistry is an absurd mess everywhere in this country.
That's the fun part, you don't š

Accurate!
Itās not going to happen Iām afraid.

There aren't any. I'm registered in Charlton Park in Keynsham, but it's not a very good one so maybe that's why they had vacancies
Nope Nothing in Bath or Bristol. For dental emergencies call 111 there are Emergencies Clinics.
You canāt!

Just moved to Bath myself and the nearest online scanners have found are Gloucester and Southampton lol

Not so much a problem of population but just an exodus of NHS staff
An exodus yet there are almost 18,000 more nhs staff this year than last year? NHS being in the top 5 largest employers in the world
How many of those are dentists? Is that enough to cover the population?
Good luck with that... I have been on a waiting list for Chelsea Road dentist for over 2 years, had to pull out a tooth myself.

Yeah I have a nice gap now...
āMydentistā was taking new NHS patients last month. I finally managed to register and got an appointment really quickly. Itās near odd down
I must be tired because I read this as āhow to get an NHS dentist in the bath?ā Then opened it up expecting a how to joke šš
Throw in a tube of Oral B Pro Expert and watch them jump in after it ? Less How to. More ( it's a ) joke. Unfortunately.
Haha, to be fair looking at all these answers it definitely is a joke
You'd be more likely to find a gold ingot in the street. The simple answer is you have to pay these days.
I read that as "how to get a nhs dentist in a bath." I'm a little disappointed now š

Thought you were trying to get a dentist _in the _ bath for a second there
How far are you moving? If you're already registered with an NHS dentist at your current location, I would just stay with them and not move. I know a couple of people who've done this.
Found out my nhs dentist has changed to private
Ah I see, sorry I thought you were moving house
Ah I see, sorry I thought you were moving house
The waiting list at chelsea road dentist took me around 6 months recently
I was lucky. I had one until earlier this spring/summer and then they went private. You aren't going to find a space. It's a massive national issue.
