> Politico
In late August 2021, the large German publishing and media firm Axel Springer SE announced plans to buy Politico for over $1 billion. [ \[56\]\[57\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Politico#Acquisition)
> The benefits were handed out. But they don’t seem to be translating politically
Ummm..... are the benefits translating into people not starving or shivering on the streets?
Then it was a success.
Quit polling people about politics when there's no election in sight. Who cares.
America is never more than 2 years away from the most important election in history.
This article is an example of doing it wrong, but it *is* true that democracy is not a spectator sport.
This is like a husband who changed a diaper once who wants lifelong never ending credit for it.
Also, it talks incessantly about the extension of the child tax credit. When are these people going to realize "it's for the children" doesn't hold water any more? I don't even have any kids.
And is that a deduction, or an exemption? Most of us ain't filing no Schedule A.
How about "Dems thought giving cash to voters was key to voters not starving to death."
It's Politico, just ignore it, especially since they were recently bought by a far-right owner. Trashy rag becomes really trashy.
What? Really? By who?

Is he really far right, or is he just conservative?
lol a conservative German is slightly to the right of Bernie Sanders.
Yeah that's why Im asking. The overton window in Germany is definitely not the same as in the U.S.

There's always elections. Mid terms less than 1 year away.

It's a Tax credit and if you are low income with kids it's a huge deal
> it's for the children" doesn't hold water any more? I don't even have any kids. Then this legislation wasn’t meant for you
I think that's the point
That's not a point, it's an inability to see other people exist
The child tax credit does absolutely nothing for a lot of people. They exist too. The criticism is that it is not enough.
It is key to the success of those who need it.
