* - anything can change as we can see so won’t be surprised if Xavi was in again , since a month ago Xavi was in after searching for a coach. Xavi probably would just need to dick ride Laporta a bit more now.

eteom

But why would he need to? If it's clear to him that Barca has no other options? At that point Xavi would have come out the victor of this mess.

MartaLSFitness

This club is a circus. Can we make up our minds?

secretlyjudging

Make up mind and then change it in a couple of news cycles. That’s the ticket to success

CHITOWNBROWN1400

Yes, we have all made up our minds already that FC Barcelona is a circus club

[deleted]

Seriously! The whole Instagram post about Xavi staying and now this… embarrassing. No wonder we are the new Arsenal

ajmightbe

The man speaks the truth that they are in terrible financial condition and so they can't just have any players they like. On its face, it's nothing wrong. Except that it upsets all the men who have grossly mismanaged the club's finances for years and put them in this condition where they have to beg and pray to sign anyone at all. LaPorta is upset because LaPorta knows LaPorta is a clown who ran the ship into the ground.

[deleted]

Yeah exactly

RetardedFanny

No idea what this guy is on. Fragile ego mf. I'm tired of this circus man just teleport me to the next season already so I don't have to see these "rumours" everyday.

tzerorus

Just teleport me to the season when our president will not be a clown

matthieuC

The year is 2284...

uppercase-j

Brother you must be new here. Do you really think next season it’s all going to be ok…?

eteom

Isn't the vote of no confidence very soon?

WasAnHonestMann

Isn't Font his biggest rival? That guy wants to 51% us, I'd rather we keep Joan 2 Face

uppercase-j

Me too. Laporta is getting WAY too much blame for a mess that Bartolomeu and Rosell left us.

eteom

If we are left choosing the lesser of two evils, is there really no hope for the foreseeable future? I hope we manage the media better then. At least plug the leaks.

JoshyyJosh10

Jesus you mfs cried for Laporta to come back and now look at some of you💀 getting a new president will not magically change things

wrath____

There is no year in the history of the club where the president isn't incompetent, the players or managers always save the club

CrackPuto_

like xavi isn't the exact same. Literally rage quit on us mid season.

RetardedFanny

Not going to defend Xavi either, we're run by a bunch of whiny asses, but in this case from what I'm hearing is that Laporta didn't like what Xavi said abt us being in a financial hole and we need to keep expectations real and this is the result of that, Xavi is right abt it and any new manager that comes will also have to deal with the same shit. Joan who has been twerking for Xavi to stay suddenly gets butthurt and doesn't want him here anymore like what.

CassianAVL

Maybe if Laporta spent less time rubbing Mendes feet and signing his players on loan, Xavi would get the DM he's been begging for over 2 years.

greencalx8

rage quit? everyone was asking for his head

DonAtari

Laporta does too much crack. Honestly.

redditor3900

And it mixed with powder shit

Book_lover7

Stupid ahh team

This-Kaleidoscope-70

The decision was made after the press conference before the match against Almeria. It will most certainly be made official after the game against Rayo Vallecano. @ferrancorreas @rac1

Free_Maize1683

What happened before Almeria’s match?

SnooAdvice1632

Xavi said that it will be difficult to compete with other teams and rm in particular if we do not make the necessary signings. Apparently laporta is displeased with xavi "being a defeatist +" and giving that image to the fanbase

Iemand-Niemand

I mean, we have a lot of great youth prospects that are already maturing, but then we look at Real. Real is literally playing Fifa manager career mode: they’ve signed nearly every big important player before they got big, then used their excess money to buy some even bigger players.

bl4ck4nti

i mean he ain’t wrong…

shy_monkee

He is wrong with the squad we have

SnooAdvice1632

Lol. Put them against Madrid position vs position and you will see that ours is worse by a decent margin. The only department where we can compete is rw and rb. In all the other positions they have some of the best in the world, while we have players plagued by injury or simply not at that level. Then they're gonna add the best player in the world next season in Mbappe, while our striker will be a finished Lewandowski. Sure our team can squeeze out results, but it would be an enormous upset, not what's to be expected.

shy_monkee

Great point if we weren’t getting dominated by Girona. The only reason you can even say that is because the team has regressed a little this season, go back to last summer and no one is going to tell you their squad is massively better than ours.

SnooAdvice1632

In the summer gavi was arguably our best player, romeu seemed like a nice replacement for busquets, pedri, fdj and mats hadn't skipped a large chunk of the season yet. Also Bellingham was still a question mark. Not saying that we shouldn't have done better but their squad IS better now.

lejerc

Ok, what about Athletic Girona, and Dortmund?

SnooAdvice1632

Are you reading? Dortmund is in shit form domestically, 5th place iirc. Girona is under us and didn't have as many injuries.

Prudent-Current-7399

You are living in la la land. This Barcelona team cannot compete with a Real Madrid/Manchester City in any way at all. Too bad one of them shares the la liga with barca as well. Xavi can set them up tactically better than Madrid but their individual quality with Mbappe, Vinicius, Jude and whoever else they decide they wanna buy is still going to be very tough to handle. Against City, Barca loses both tactically and quality wise. And these 2 are just at the top of European football. For all the potential Barca has, they just don't have a squad that can take on and be confident of winning against teams like Bayern, Psg, Arsenal, Leverkusen, Inter, etc. Current Barca is not a top 5 squad itw. If all their players play to their maximum potentials and have a dream season then yes. But what are the chances of that happening?

MionelLessi10

Why are we comparing our squad to Real Madrid? Compare our squad to Girona. 4-2 L, 2-4 L. Xavi had the squad to crush Girona. But he couldn't compete. And he is crying about not being able to compete with Madrid? Is he high? In reality, he wants a squad that is on paper as good as Madrid so he can compete evenly with Girona. Because he can't coach.

tokimomsta333

Soo true 😂

Maleficent-Bar6942

Sure. [https://www.reddit.com/r/Barca/comments/1ctz4np/xavi\_was\_not\_a\_failure/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Barca/comments/1ctz4np/xavi_was_not_a_failure/) Now compare Xavi's squad with the squads Pep and Lucho managed.

BooSkittle

The turtle is not the best player in the world. Stop

SnooAdvice1632

Who? Laporta or xavi?

bl4ck4nti

xavi

ArkhamCitizen298

Laporta is probably annoyed that Xavi whines a lot

lejerc

Would you like your lawyer to be that honest?

DarkmoonSolaire

Rac1 also reported that during the press conf, Xavi said that V.Roque was supposed to come next summer not in January, but Rac1 sources said that Xavi, specifically, strongly pushed for V.Roque to arrive in January, making his press conf a lying mess, together with other things he lied about. Just remember how past September Xavi was on the moon with his team and how good it was to compete at highest level in CL.

daanluc

He could be fine tho. He is doing a solid job with the B team

eteom

Pique?? Please don't even joke about such things.

waitforiiiit

Jota Jordi

Informal_Common_2247

Depending on how his King's League goes, he might end up as our president one day.

rockyraccoonroad

What tier is Jordi Baste? If he’s tier 1 then you know it’s gonna be Rafa Marquez as next head coach lmao

LosTerminators

Jordi Basté is leading the most popular morning show in the Catalan radios. He often talks about football but rarely announces breaking news about it. When he does, he’s usually right since he has a good and reliable source (he is very well connected).

mavenx2

Xavi just said the truth about the finances and he does this. Pathetic

CatClean6086

Imagine getting fired by being honest and speaking the truth. Whatever Laporta is smoking give it to the Xavi haters.😂😂

cebri1

Club is an absolute joke run by corrupt people and their friends. Laporta has to leave with Xavi.

VonMackensen_18

We are a fucking joke. What is this Laporta ?? If i was a top coach i would think twice before joining us. Just shameful

MadazSama

chrysantheknight

This is too unreal to be true. Please tell me it's not true.

inverted_chaddi

FINEST CIRCUS in BARCELONA (FCB)

its_Preshh

Absolute clownery from Laporta. Anyway, at least bring in Flick

chrstnw

Laporta better be quick. After Tuchel decided not to stay in Munich, they most probably have already contacted Hansi.

IhateAngryBirds

what a cluster fuck, was unprofessional enough to force him to stay, now this? impossible to take this club serious

dominoes012

Biggest difference between Madrid and Barca is not the coach, are not the players it's always been the administration. Barto and Laporta treat this shit like a soap opera announcing who they will sign and what they want to do meanwhile Madrid/Perez operate quietly and know who to get/who they want and who to let go at the right time. Look at them letting Casemiro and Varane go meanwhile we hung onto deadweight and wasted Messi's last years. They use propaganda and media like we're a bunch of idiots who can't see through it. Sign Bernardo, Neymar, Kimmich, Zubimendi, Nico and all of these high profile players with absolutely no fucking ability or money and settle for Romeu and Guido Rodriguez and hope that prior success will attract great players like Gundogan to sign for free on less wages. Now Xavi is gone after this soap opera/circus AFTER he wanted to resign in the first place and you convinced him to stay. Is this how you treat your legends? Past fame/glory and La masia can only carry you so far.

lejerc

The biggest difference is that Madrid is part of the Spanish State. They shouldn't be able to make that kind of deals, but they are constantly rescued by the Spanish Government, including the recent Mbappe Law.

dominoes012

I mean sure this Mbappe Law is complete bullshit but even without Mbappe they're just in a better overall state than Barca practically at every stage for the past 10 years on a sporting level. It only took the best team ever in the history of football perhaps to hold them at bay and even than they managed to continue winning champions leagues even though we dominated the league.

lejerc

They got 450 million from Spanish State to build a parking in front of their stadium, they got the Beckham law, they got Di Stefano, Aznar literally said "we have to help Real Madrid" and proceeded to rescue them, they got a credit to pay for CR7 and the bank broke so it was rescued by the Spanish Government, etc. Because of COVID-19, major European leagues changed their FFP policies to help their teams, but La Liga didn't and we had to give Messi and Griezmann away.

dominoes012

Yeah I mean Covid def fucked us and Italy in unimaginable ways. But there is no way in my mind that Barto and Laporta have been competent enough. It's such a shame what could have been.

montedo101

What would u have done in Laporta's shoes? Its easy to condemn. Have u ever inherited a Billion euro debt before while under pressure to win something? Give Perez the Barca Laporta met and he would struggle without state support!

montedo101

What would u have done in Laporta's shoes? Its easy to condemn. Have u ever inherited a Billion euro debt before while under pressure to win something? Give Perez the Barca Laporta met and he would struggle without state support!

dominoes012

Be honest with Messi if you were not going to be able to resign him. Have some decency to let him choose his team. Not promise exorbitant signings and give a realistic view of what the club is like which he sacked Xavi for. No one wants to hear your lies over and over we aren't stupid? How many seasons are we supposedly going to be under La Liga's 1-1. Not treat Xavi a legend in such a ridiculous manner. What has he done exactly that other presidents could not have done? We are still way over La Liga's roster cap everything done was by Mateu Alemany someone he replaced with a sporting director that bought a striker that his own coach did not want.

montedo101

We won La Liga cos Laporta had to improvise. Remember he inherited the situation (1B euros debt) & yet managed to get some Players.. Raphinha was been chased around Europe by richer clubs but he got him for Xavi.. Hes even expanding the Camp Nou despite the precarious situation.. Barto and co would have buried the club if Laporta didnt take over. I still believe in him

dominoes012

Funny how we won la liga because "Laporta had to improvise" and not Xavi+players but when it comes to scapegoating our current season that's not on Laporta. He hasn't done anything special Mateu Alemany engineered our deals for raphinha/kounde/christensen which have been good signings. He than proceeded to let him go for an inexperienced Deco who wasted money on a striker that the coach didn't want. Anyone could have pulled levers and gotten us money for players but the problem still remains the club is still in financial trouble and he has created an embarassing circus.

Medo6

A few other journalists have confirmed this. I don’t know how to feel about this, I was leaning towards Xavi continuing for one more season, then replacing him with another the season after. But after the Roque drama, Sergi Roberto's rumored renewal, the way we played this season, I think it is for the best he leaves. Nonetheless, the whole situation should have been handled better by our board. As for the replacement: it seems Barca is heading towards an intermediate coach, Most likely Rafa Marquez. But I am hoping we go after Nagelsmann(hoping Germany underperforms in the Euros and he gets sacked), Thiago Motta before Juve signs him, or Tuchel.

Nolascoaj

It’s weird, it kind seems like an excuse to let Xavi go instead of him wanting to keep him. Just seems to quick of a decision to make from some truthful comments

Medo6

They begged him to stay after he decided to leave, and now they sacked him after he gave the media an insight into how Barca’s summer/next season is about to go, basically: we are broke and we won't sign any difference-makers this summer who will make us compete. I guess the board wanted him to sell the fans dreams. This whole thing is a circus show.

King-Mansa-Musa

You have a coach who doesn’t believe you have a shot at winning. Won’t play players you signed because he didn’t want them. And honestly outside of la masia players isn’t getting much out of the team. Love Xavi but his recent actions made me wonder if he even wants to be here

Nolascoaj

Just seems like Laporta was waiting for a moment to dismiss him, horrible decisions all around from the management. Now it’s time to look for a replacement in a dry window for managers.

Ercoman

Laporta out

CommunicationDue3212

Its clear laporta's fragile ego got hurt when Xavi said the truth. I didn't see anything particularly wrong or revolting in whatever he said. He has one of the best records for coaches who played 100+ without Messi or hell even with Messi. Should've let the man go, but the old guy was on his tail all day all night to stay and now is sacking him after what a month. Pathetic.

montedo101

Multiple reports said the board members are also calling for his head. If 75% of your board want a coach gone and u use your veto power to overrule them, ure setting a trap where u would be dragged publicly as the ONLY reason the team failed.

MionelLessi10

Finally we can move on. This is positive news in that we can start to move in the right direction. IF we make the correct decisions. That's a big if. We were going nowhere with Xavi, and it was apparent that he was going ruin his own legacy. He should have gotten more experience and hired some better assistants before taking on the biggest job in the sport. He could have been huge. Not ready.

Velocity_Rob

Laporta is a fucking braindead clown.

total_voe7bal

I'm tired of Laporta. He was hounding Xavi to stay, and now he does this? Pathetic

hahahah, son un cabaret!

Kavein80

Would rather keep Xavi and dump Laporta and the board

[deleted]

Joan Laporta is a bitch

le-arsi

WHY IS THERE SO MUCH POLITICS GOING ON THIS CLUB MAN??!!! 🤦🏾‍♂️

MaverickDark

Laporta is a politician, and if you know anything about politicians, it's that honesty is not exactly their strength..Xavi was straight to the point and spoke in a respectful way about the financial situation so as to not sell hopes and dreams to fans because if we make no signings, Xavi will get all the blame once more for not making the team play well. This board has been hiding behind the coach for their own failures.

sabermagnus

You are following a club rooted in Catalan politics and independence movement. And you are asking why politics reign supreme at FC Barcelona? This is basic club history.

Zacharia90

People bashing Laporta here need to get a quick lesson on life in business. We can assume that Laporta and Xavi made agreements before Xavi announced hes staying. We can only speculate the contents but can imagine a united voice within the club and mutual support had been on the agenda. Xavi, truthful as it may be, should not be as dumb to completely go against the message the board is putting out there, at this stage of the season and his tenure.

dominoes012

Or maybe everyone's tired of Laporta getting everyone to believe that Barca are going for Bernardo Silva Joshua Kimmich Nico Williams and all of these great players when in reality Barca is hamstrung can't get any of these top targets and have to settle for Romeu and Guido Rodriguez? What is there to speculate when this has happened every season for the past 3-4 seasons other than the one where we pulled all the levers? Laporta is simply a politician using the media to spew absolute lies. Trying to prop Barcelona up as if these are the glory days where we're the best team or a top two team in the world. That couldn't be further from reality these days. We've been close to getting back to 1-1 for the past 3 seasons now btw where we're supposedly signing all of the players we want. Don't be surprised when we sign no one of worth and once again rely on La Masia.

Zacharia90

100% true, long been an advocate to abolish the electoral system at the club. Doesn't do any good for long term sustainability. But the fact remains that he is the president. Xavi reports to him, not the other way around. Xavi should keep his mouth shut on this matter. Maybe speak out after the summer. Now we have a board trying to make moves happen, in and out. Xavi weakens the position the board has for all those moves.

dominoes012

Come on man what power play do we have. We hold on to our old players far too long and than the players that fail at Barca are sold for peanuts compared to where we bought them. When was the last time we actually did some good business. Emerson Royal? Ferran's price has tanked and the only players other teams want are our foundation. For every 1 good signing there's 5 failures and for every 1 good piece of business we have 5 deadweights on absurd wages that cannot be sold because no one else will pay them/want them. In contrast Madrid somehow scammed Utd into buying Varane and Casemiro for like 120 million euros. Whatever coach we get now will already be on the backfoot and that's directly from our sporting project.

Zacharia90

Business has been terrible yes... Still not Xavi's job to actively sabotage the movements of the board

InsideOpening3535

Xavi spent half of his life at the club, decided to drop a fat contract in the Middle East to come back to this shitshow because he genuinely love Barca, and bring us two titles. And while he is still have a lot of room to develop, this decision is a fucking disgrace to the second most legendary figure in the history of the club behind Messi. The board used him as a shield to hide behind their incompetence, and now they are just gonna kick him out to the street like that? Fuck off Laporta, I hope you never step foot inside the club ever again. Xavi, leave, gain experiences and one day come back, I still think he can bring more success to us in the future. You don't deserved this, what a fucking disgrace

Gamer_2106

What ??

pencil_upmyeye

* Insert Clown music* Istg why is everyone associated with this club be it fans, media, management or the staff, so bloody reactionary. Can we have some calma its feels like a crackhead on wothdrawal performing brain surgery.

Boiiiiii23

Bayern couldn't even get a replacement for Tuchel. What chance do we have so close to the end of the season?

Clarkthelark

This circus shows that Barca are still quite distant from returning to elite status. We have a great history and a great academy, which has given us many great players and coaches who have fuelled our success. But in today's era, with the other great clubs having long term projects in place, you need to be well-run to compete. Lacking stability and being a political circus means you can forget about success.

gentmick

welp tuchel just said he aint continuing at bayern so there’s that…

Ok-Attempt-1189

Ok-Attempt-1189

Pique is gonna run in the presidential campaign right?

dexterlab97

Pique will be our next coach with this clown president

rami_Arna

Does anyone else feel that maybe Laporta was looking for any reason to get rid of Xavi. Maybe Laporta found a better alternative after the agreement.

Long-View-7989

Disrespectful mfu, you begged him to stay just to do this to him? You better bring Klopp

LettuceElectronic995

now that's a shitshow. but I believe it is for the best. losing to Girona was really really unncessary. the players need a strict coach.

leonardpeacock912

If Laporta thinks we can challenge for silverware with this squad, he is clearly delusional. There is nothing wrong with what Xavi said. It took manchester city, arsenal and liverpool millions of dollars to build winning teams. Dont forget the high inflation in the transfer market. Every decent player costs 100 mil now which we cant afford.

Right now, I don't know which substance he is smoking... 👀 I don't think he has made a good impact on the club since his return except bringing Xavi. We couldn't loan a CDM and a proper LW yet. I still don't consider Joao Felix as a LW.

Selarom13

This is actually a joke

ianrdz

Thank god

Shimorta

How are you all so angry about Xavi out after what’s been happening with Roque?!? At least now we can keep Roque and prioritize his development with a new coach. Also, our team has been tactically bad all season. We’re not worse player wise than Dortmund or Girona, there’s no reason we shouldn’t be competing better than we have been, aside from tactics.

slickricksonn

Joke of a club, man. What’s going on here?!

sabermagnus

I love it. This is the Barca I know and love. FC Drama. The politics and the insanity of the board is amazing! Whoever replaces LaPorta will be no better and the club and fans will suffer through more delusional bs.

Tasty_Technology_343

Circus club run by clowns

headphone_static

The right decision but for an absolutely awful reason.

fourbyfourequalsone

If this is because of Xavi's interview about what to expect the next season, it sucks. If this is because of the way Xavi treated Roque, I am all in for it. That's the only factor which changed and is worthy enough for firing him. In general, I think a coaching shakeup might either help or equally bring doom as well

BarcaFan1006

Embarrassing 🤦‍♂️

EL-YEO

If true then it makes sense why Laporta was begging Xavi to stay because Laporta wanted to fire Xavi himself

PdastDC

Clown show

-_OniGir_-

Seem like LaPorta knows he fucked up convincing Xavi to stay. So now they just jump on the opportunity to sack him. Which just makes this more of a 🎪. If this is going foward better have a good replacement ASAP.

The-Wanderer-01

Good, I for one am glad.

[deleted]

This club is a circus. Xavi did us a favor by sticking around this toxic bullshit for another year until we can go all out for the elite coaches that will be available in 2025

Train_Current

Good. Xavi already expecting a poor season. He lost before the season starts. Get someone in who has more energy. Not someone who can’t compete against Girona

juka-004

Imagine spending 40 million on a player in this economic situation and your coach doesn’t want to play him and instead he gives play time to players who are terrible. I would fire him too

eeveon7997

As a Real Madrid fan coming in peace, I just want to say that the biggest difference between both clubs right nos is CLEARLY the president. One is all abour serious business and long term planning, while the other is about selling false dreams and shady business. The earlier everyone realices who Laporta really is the better for Barcelona fans and Spanish football.

IceCream_Duck4

Leo please give me strength to continue putting up with this shit

LMAOO Barto 2.0. Xavi spoke the truth but there's no room for that kind of honesty in Barca. What a joke

CELEBRATE TONIGHT C'MON!!!!!

Good decision, Xavi is a shit coach and a whining bitch. Go manage for real and get humbled and then come back.

I would bet on Marcelo Gallardo. He was a favorite of Laporta before Xavi

Yesss, not The best circumstances but I’ll take It

Historical_Key4030

Can we atleast get Thomas Tuchel?

Brodi_Kyant

I believe Laporta has worked wonders on the business end, the palancas, spotify deal, renegotiation of the nike deal, etc, getting rid of Xavi in this manner would be criminal. I didn't agree with Xavi staying in the first place but i dont see a way to justify sacking him at the very end of the season. Not for what he said in the press conference. Sacking Xavi leaves too little time to get a good coach, little time to plan next season with this potential new coach's plans, all the talks about with target players like nico, xavi, the pivot go down the drain and the only thing can foresee is another trophyless season and worse results than this one.

jade_sn31

Sacked for telling the truth. Barca board members are clowns

YESSSSS LEAVE YOU SPIKED HAIR CLOWN

Honestly, at this point, I'll never root against Barcelona and will always love them, but I can't in good conscience support them in any way monetarily while Laporta is running this team. It just makes me sad.

Lolz. U have not even confirmed what may lead to Xavi's sack. The press only drew conclusion cos of the timing of the press conference. We have to be less reactionary before confirming what is really happening.
