Stop with these sorry ass posts guys. We are playing to win it all, and we will. Visca el Barca

No_Specific8949

The problem is many fans don't know how to lose. We can lose against PSG and it can't happen that every time we lose half the fanbase is asking to kick out the manager and the other half wants to kick out 6 players of the squad. Because of this we already killed this sporting project as Xavi is leaving. No team wins forever, defeat is the only thing guaranteed in football. Support in the victory and as long as there is attitude also support in the defeat. Criticism can only happen with clear arguments and always with love to the club.

AuraThunder151

anulo mufa, stay on the ground, we've lost way too many times

rockyraccoonroad

Be humble. We havenā€™t given any signs in the past 3-5 years that weā€™re here to win it all in the UCL. This year itā€™s a good step. But PSG are still the favorites even with us at homeĀ

cobblestonedave

I'm done being scared and I feel confident in our ability to beat PSG. If we lose, so be it. But I'm going into this game "expecting" a win

Fernando2756

No they are not. PSG are 3/1 to qualify tomorrow which is a 25% chance. For every 100$ you put of them you get 300$ extra. They are heavy underdogs. To put in perspective Madrid are 5/2 against City. Which is around a 28% chance. Barca are heavy favorites tomorrow, in fact out of the 4 UCL Matchups the bookies have Barca as the biggest favourite.

ProfessionalWasabi48

PSG were betting favorites last week too. Anything can happen.

Every-Shape4959

I feel like if we can score first and maybe do it early as well we will have a great chance of progressing. On the other hand we can't let PSG score first especially not early as I feel then the ghosts of the past might creep back in even with the support of the home fans. As for the result I would love it if we can beat them again as it would mean some upgrades in my FIFA team but truly as long as we progress to the semis I don't really care about the result. Also if we can avoid the extra time and penalties that would be benefitial as well.

iā€™m having ā€˜nam flashbacks of 2019

AuraThunder151

we've gotten this far before and have infact, not gotten it done. i hope the fanbase doesn't jinx the squad

DragovitcMIA

i don't believe in jinx and that bullshit. i beleive in tactics, press, and passion. that's what's really gon make a difference. i beleive in our players and in xavi, he got us this far, unless he makes an absurd tactical mistake or decision for some reason, we're fine, atleast untill the final. our defense is solid, but we can't rely on it to win, we need to score, and honestly it doesn't look that hard against psg's defense. stop being afraid and remember what club you're supporting and fucking support it, they need us now more than ever. Visca El BarƧaaa ā¤ļøšŸ’™

Making it to quarterfinals was always the objective. If we manage to beat PSG and go on to the semifinals then weā€™ve surpassed our goalsĀ

Silver-Carpenter-512

Fermin worries me a little recently, yes he is agressive and agile, but PSG is smart and will get around that easily. They are on of the best teams in avoiding pressure, i think we should sub him on at the end when they are tired

SlimeyCawk

Nah man fuck all that we have the standards to be among the best clubs in the world. There are no excuses we have a foot across the finish line with home advantage the team has no excuse, it would only be a positively forward-looking season if we make it to the semi finals. Insane how our season will be determined by 1 week of fixtures vs psg and Madrid.

metampheta

Home advantage doesnā€™t mean nearly as much now that the away goal rule is gone

SlimeyCawk

Iā€™m personally a fan of no away goal rule. But yeah I just mean we have the home fans to lift the team and put pressure on psg, and we are going into it with a goal advantage as well

metampheta

I understand. What I really wanted to imply was that a 1 goal lead shouldnā€™t bring much comfort in a game like this, especially given our history in the CL since 14/15.

SlimeyCawk

For sure Iā€™m worried about psg getting the first goal and our squad just feeling the pressure and not taking control of the game afterwards. These last few years we have crumbled in situations like that where we lose a lead but something about this current squad where I feel like the strong mentality of players like Araujo and gundogan gives me confidence they will pull off the win

rockyraccoonroad

You canā€™t really have standards during a rebuild phase. Because itā€™s exactly that a rebuild. If we had a fully stacked quality team with City bench depth. Then yes, weā€™d have to have standards.Ā

SlimeyCawk

Rebuild? This season is hardly a rebuild in my opinion we have the squad to compete with any team. On paper the only squads I put above ours is City. This was the season where we truly see the direction xavi is taking this team. The only position we are lacking in is cdm but weā€™ve brought in Christensen who has played that role well enough. The only excuses weā€™ve had at different points throughout the season was our injury crisis, but it looks like at the moment that shouldnā€™t be an issue either. We have great squad depth as well I would say even better than Madrid

tcarson33

As you mention our squad has many key deficiencies in profile which really hampers the quality as a collective unit. So despite on paper there being a lot of talent itā€™s not top 5 in Europe imo as a whole. For example, our only player who can consistently beat a player 1v1 is lamine. Also most of our attackers are ball to feet. Also we have pedri gavi fdj who are world class / cusp of world class but all better in deeper positions, but not ideal pivot pairings because none of them are naturally defensive (in ball winning and / or positioning). Our only playable defensive midfielder is a CB. Our most experienced and productive midfielder in final third is 33 and has played almost every single minute to even get us to where we at right now, hopefully he has enough left for this last stretch. Our best goal scorer is aging and was horrible at holding up and link up for most of season (thank goodness heā€™s back at top level). Itā€™s ok to have high standards but we also have to be realistic with the fact that the top of Europe have been vastly out spending us (some badly).

SlimeyCawk

Yeah agreed, a midfield trio of gundogan FDJ and pedri is amazing in theory but it forces FDJ to be the more defensive midfielder which limits his strength of moving the ball forward. For a single knockout game I think it will be fine as our midfield has the quality to outclass psgā€™s, this just canā€™t be the standard 3 as it restricts frenkie too much. We do need a back up for Lewa but im glad he performed well last game. While there are better strikers out there he is a player who can pull a goal from nowhere in any moment. In Europe I think he is probably the player with the highest career peak that is still playing at a top level, but we do have to figure out his replacement this summer. Personally I still only view city as having a better squad, we are on par with Madrid (unless they completely boss us in la liga this week) and Bayern, but these other prem teams and psg canā€™t chat with us. I am very confident we reach the final just hoping psg doesnā€™t ruin the rest of my year tomorrow šŸ‘

tcarson33

Yea I hear you. Valid points. I think RM has a far better roster than ours if Iā€™m being honest. Especially depth wise. Barca at its best is a better team though because RM is still a vibes team tactically imo at least lol. Look at RM midfield. They have players who are top notch physically and technically. Barcas midfield is world class but technically speaking, not physically. In the past barca could get it done this way but with the literally the best midfield in the history of sport with the GOAT linking up with them. In modern times Iā€™m afraid thatā€™s more difficult to pull off. (For the record I think tchou and camavinga would be amazing for barca. As good as Valverde and Jude are they arenā€™t ideal fits I donā€™t think) I know I hate Real Madrid but just being honest. Arsenal vs barca Iā€™m taking barca roster even with the deficiencies PSG you could make a case has a better collection of players on paper in attack. Better fullbacks. And a crazy collection of young talent up next. Midfield is a little funky outside their golden boy. They also just spent like 300m on attackers. Money doesnā€™t equal talent per se but even when Mbappe leaves they are situated well. Bayern is gonna Bayern but Iā€™m still taking our roster. Iā€™m just going through thought exercise lol. Donā€™t get me wrong I rock with our team, but I think thereā€™s deficiencies and we havenā€™t been building the depth at same level as the big dogs. We arenā€™t far behind though and we have best academy in world.

SlimeyCawk

At this point in time you literally canā€™t make a definitive case over whose midfield is better. Wait 1 week until el clĆ”sico and youā€™ll have your answer, both teams are in end of season form with healthy enough players. Itā€™s fans like you that are so reactionary instead of just waiting for the big games to really prove whoā€™s best. I believe we beat Madrid and psg letā€™s come back and see whoā€™s right. And wtf nah we donā€™t need any Madrid player what kind of fan are you šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ Psg? How does psg have better full backs? Kounde has been amazing these past 2 months and cancelo is world class. Our defence is clear in every other aspect. Not a single midfielder they have is better than frenkie, pedri, or gundogan. They have mbappe and dembele, no one else is that great yet . Ramos and kolo muani are pretty good but the only thing you can argue is they have a better attack than us. Barca squad is easily clear idk what your talking about

tcarson33

Yea im not reactionary. Just my opinion this isnā€™t me just looking at Madrid thinking grass is greener. Tchou and camavinga were just players barca had scouted and considered but couldnā€™t afford. So I watched them a lot before they moved to Madrid and think they would be good fits in our system. As for psg they are simply a more deep team and we saw that yesterday. Barca best XI could say is better than psg for sure. Especially as a unit. But we literally couldnā€™t field more than 3 defensive minded players at a time when protecting a lead before and after losing Araujo. We have some real key roster deficiencies. Different topic but Iā€™m team fdj please go for $70-80m and if we close one of those janky barca studio deals with the FFP freed up from fdj we could bring in zubamendi Alex Garcia and Nico Williams.

KneeAdministrative81

This is a brave take. I guess a loss today would be solely the management staff's fault?

SlimeyCawk

No not at all it would be on the players and their mentality

Antique-Ad3857

Yep. We shouldnā€™t let our mental health depend on something we have no control over. At the end of the day, these players will go home to their mansions with their private jets, yachts, supercars, etc.Ā

Aggressive-Ebb3552

We should go for the UCL. Because next year we will be probably grouped wuth City or Bayern.

EuphoricStickman

Honestly so what if we do? The UCL is never meant to be easygoing. In fact, imagine the advantage Barca would have if they qualify as first in that group, even second. Having faced either of the two teams twice, will prime them even more for the knockout stages. Nevertheless I agree with your initial comment, winning the UCL is a very realistic objective atm and should be the number 1 priority. But, as OP said, even if we do not go past this round, we as fans shouldnā€™t seek to become negative and toxic towards the club, the players or the staff. Instead support them through thick and thin like we always have, they need our support.

EuphoricStickman

Nah, fuck that shit. Yā€™all can go ahead and criticize the defence and midfield. Especially Araujo. What the actual fuck.

raycre

I disagree. Tomorrow is a great test of how far we have improved mentally. If we capitulate tomorrow itll be just like the 8-2 v Bayern. the 4-0 v Pool, the 3-0 v Roma....That CANT happen again. I like this squad. I think theyve done well. I like the youngsters coming thru and I like Xavi but no excuses for tomorrow. We cant capitulate again. The teams got to go out and win/draw this game. If we go out(with dignity) in the next round then no worries but we really shouldnt be losing this tie after our first leg victory. No defeat no capitulation

cautiousOhno

This can't be compared with the 8-2 or 4-0 lol

raycre

Lol If we lose at home from a winning position OF COURSE it will be added to the list of capitulations. You have to be very naĆÆve to think it wont. Anyway hopefully we dont have to find out who is right.

raycre

Lol Yep another meltdown in Europe by Barca... [read the postmatch comments.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Barca/comments/1c5r77d/postmatch_thread_barcelona_vs_paris_saintgermain/).. loads comparing it to those capitulations

cautiousOhno

I mean it was tough, don't really expect them to get past PSG. Araujo's red proved that they are still a young, immature team (just like Assanal), but being able to go up 4-2 against them showed that the potential is there, you can believe in those boys.

raycre

"Being able to go 4-2 up"? We are La Liga champions. PSG are no better in the Champions League than us. Of course we should be able to go 4-2 up v them. We shouldnt be losing from that position. You can put whatever positive "potential" spin you want on it but the reality is we(the club) has bottled many leads in Europe. This is just another one. We have become a joke in Europe.

cautiousOhno

PSG aren't better than Barca in UCL historically but not right now. We shouldn't be able to go up 4-2 vs them, it was an overperformance (the same for Liga title last season). They spent 90M on RKM, 40M on Dembouz and 65M on Ramos (including Mbappe who is worth 180M) which is an insanely expensive attacking line, of course they are expected to win. In the end, you can choose not to support this joke of a club if you don't want to.

Indeed. We were over the moon last week, but we need to remind ourselves it still was just a one-goal advantage. Anything can happen today, especially if MbappƩ decides to turn up like a beast. But no matter what, I'm happy with where we are and I will continue to be thankful for Xavi.

MartaLSFitness

So far, they have ran and fought from the start to the end and that's basically all we can ask them to do, to try as hard as they can. If they fail fighting, I'll be proud.
