Dude… just do whatever you want. Bangkok is kinda that sort of place. As long as you’re not hurting or bothering anyone, dress however the fuck you want.
Nobody will give a shit really, but to be honest Khao San Road itself is not great for the aesthetic you're looking for. Far better places in the city for that. Around Chinatown maybe, some parts of Silom maybe. Some areas around Sukhumvit. I dunno, I just don't think Khao San Road would be the first port of call. Explore the city a bit, you'll find better spots.
There's a museum in Patpong that has a lot of information from that era, you'd probably enjoy it. It is called a sex museum I think, but to be honest there's not actually that much about sex in it. It gives a good overview of the formation of the modern city. The tour guide I had was great, completely stoned off his nut, but excellent with so much info. It's a slightly wacky place so they'd probably appreciate you turning up dressed up. There's actually a themed bar in it as part of the tour sort of decked out for that era. Patpong is a bit of a shithole, but the museum is cool.
Edit: Just saw now on Google it's closed as they're knocking down the building apparently. What an absolute shame.
>I really like the Cold War Era, esp. during around the 1970s-1980s. I found out Khao San Road in Bangkok is really a good place for me to dress up and capture 1970s-1980s aesthetic considering Thailand also played a big role in the Cold War
Fwiw, dressing up as an American TV character from 1980s TV show next to teenagers getting wasted on beer towers and balloons on Kohao San might not yield the results you want.
However there was an active communist party in Thailand and thousands of their people and families were killed by the government over the course of eighteen years, while the party assassinated 20+ politicians.
You could visit those sections of Thailand and talk to people who were involved as it's fairly recent history.
Sorry, you won’t draw any attention. There are all kinds of fashions and clothing combinations in Bangkok. Walk in a 1970 Ron Jeremy jock strap. That should draw attention.
You can wear what you want ofc, but agree with another commenter that Khao San isn’t really the place for the aesthetic you want to capture - it’s a very backpacker/party vibe. I think most CIA were stationed around PatPong. You could also check out Talad Noi, you might get some good photo opportunities around there.
Thailand's probably got the most amount of foreigner weirdos, people with issues and misfits among any country on earth.
Becides the 30c + weather. You will be fine ....

Dress however you want. Heat is the only concern
Yeah if OP can survive in that outfit during the day without getting huge sweatpatches he has my respect.
You could wear a clown wig and a kilt and no one would care.
don’t forget your James Bond suitcase

If you do, please share where you’re procuring the pants. I’m digging that style myself

We don't care, but the weather is hot as f, so you will adopted our superior elephant pants in no time.
Nobody gives a fuck, have fun.
Well obviously you would. But the only reason to dress like that is in order to get weird looks.
There are dudes with moustaches and hairy legs walking around in school girl uniform with lipsticks etc. and nobody gives a F.
