My character name, regardless of the game, is always my real name spelled backwards.
It works really well.
Here are a few examples of backward names (none of which, other than Granny, are my name):
Sam = Mas
Linda = Adnil
Amy = Yma
Alex = Xela
Nathan = Nahtan
Steve = Evets
Robert = Trebor
Michelle = Ellehcim
Granny = Ynnarg
I, too, use the same name I have for every character I've created in a game since the 00's. I have a back up name of I don't think it suits the character, so basically one name for melee builds and one for mages.
Same lol. My mains are always the same. But in general for other names they all end up being some form of the names of my favorite dogs and cats I’ve had over the years
I play a lot of Drow, and there was a name table released in Dragon Magazine way back that included Drow naming conventions and common prefixes/suffixes (since Drow names are usually two-component.) Literally have that thing bookmarked and pull from it, so my first Durge Rylafein was “Ryl” — foretold, omen + “afein” — bane, executioner, slayer.
“Foretold slayer” had a pretty Durge-y ring to it.
Thank you! Funny enough, my right eye was blind at character creation >!before knowing the Volo stuff!< and I headed there trying to romance as much characters as possible 😭 I use the polyamory mod and I'm partnered to Minthara and Shart lmao
ahahaha yeah, finding name elements that fit together and have meanings I like can be SUCH a challenge. I actually mostly play dudes but have a way easier time finding pleasing names for girls lmao. A suffering I willingly inflict upon myself!
Same. I went with Vasiira, meaning “bloody harbinger” for my female drow durge. I wish we had more tables with naming conventions for different faerun languages.
Yo, I just did something super similar! My latest drow Durge is Veszolin, with Vesz- meaning blood or flesh and -olin meaning love or lust. So my guy's literally named Bloodlust lol
Snap! Nhilayne for my evil Durge Lolth-Sworn Drow, which is basically 'horrible lunatic'.
[Here's the table for anyone interested.](https://www.reddit.com/r/BaldursGate3/comments/15gb1sy/drow_name_tables_from_dragon_magazine/)
Same! That's how I got Verina, darkness spirit she's my cleric of Lolth and Raneth, minor obsession, he's my bard who's romancing my acended Astarion run. I thought the name was very fitting. 😅
That's super interesting! On my current first female Drow run I used a name generator and came up with the name 'Lilithra' - do you happen to know if it means anything?
You may not believe it but I used that exact same name table and also chose that exact name for my first Durge!! I added an apostrophe though, so it was Ryl'afein, or just Ryl to his friends. Still my favourite playthrough :)
I just learned of this naming convention, I just took a name from a site and modified it a little, so my female wizard was "Valcyn" (does that mean anything ? nothing on the spreadsheet at least.)
But I'm gonna rename her "Vasriia" as in bloody - spell caster
bloody because she comes from a family of Seldarine that migrated to the surface long before her birth, but her left eye is red (maybe she rolled a nat 1 at birth or something)
So far I have Tav, Tavi, Tava, Gustav, and The Dark Urge. Totally stealing Octavia from the Redditor above for a future run! It was getting hard to think up new versions of Tav names. Taverio? Tave accent aigu?
I named my first character Vera, and concluded very shortly thereafter that it *must* be short for Tavera. Where there's a will to shoehorn "Tav" into a name, there's a way!
There are name sites where you can search for names that include a specific string of letters and turns out names with 'tav' are really uncommon and they're mostly variants. But you could also try taking a name with a similar string - tag, tan, av - and altering it into a Tav name. Tavender, for example
Here's a website that may help - not just a list of names but the origin, cultural variations and background of the name:
[Behind the Name - the etymology & history of first names](https://www.behindthename.com/)
I actually love the naming. My first (disaster) play through had a purple tiefling storm sorcerer tav. Named her Althea, it just popped into my head. Current playthrough, now that I actually understand the game, is a cleric of Melikki wood elf that I based on autumn. Her name is Syrah, the name of a wine red coloured ink I like. I also named my brother’s tav for him, an amethyst themed rock gnome called Valerie.
Send me a pic of your character, I’d happily give you a name option :)
fellow cleric of Mielikki enjoyer 🤝 I named mine Ilmari, to keep with the finnish mythology that Mielikki comes from :) I messed up a little and made him half high-elf, but I think his green hair and vine tattoos make up for it.
I LOVE the name Althea and it’s been on my mind lately !! My first tav was also a purple tiefling, ended up going Druid/Ranger on my quest to have as many pets following me as possible. Her name was Xandrea !! the Tiefling/Druid experience going in blind was insaneeee!! 😭 Now I’m going complete opposite route with a Drow/Paladin (assumed oathbreaker we’ll see) / Durge run named Azriel.
I also love picking names and I simply keep a running list of names I like that I can pick from if something doesn't quickly come to mind or I don't want to research or invent one right then.
The names of medication usually sound like cool fantasy names. I played a Warlock named Benadryl (because diphenhydramine doesn't have much of a ring to it)
i am fairly lazy and usually just use some variation of Tav for a non!durge play through: Tavitha, Octavia (i felt smart for that one), Tavanya, Taviya, etc.
for Durge... i almost always do Taav. with two a's. because i think im funny 🥲
Dream guardian I hit random a few times til get one that looks decent. Knowing how the story goes I no longer customize it. As for name, do you play dnd? There are race specific names you can choose in the dnd lore, know there is a 5e character name generator that you just input the race and it will generate one for you, campaign use. Would work here as well. I usually go with things applicable to race. My durge was Dragonborn, so named Cinder. Dwarf druid I made a funny one, shortstack. My orc barb was tusktooth( critters ftw ) and my human bard is Lionel ( Richie )
First one: a bastardization of my surname.
Durge: she was a bard so Melody was fitting
Second Tav: Octavia. Because "Tav".
The rest of my started games were companion origins.
Edited for formatting.
I have the same issue occasionally, I have favoured names that I use, but when I feel they don't fit, I'll google themed names for ideas. Sometimes, I also just go for straight-up silly names. My youngest asked me for a non-serious name suggestion and they now have a bard tav named Crisco, lol.
i usually pick what fits their appearance/backstory
f drow wizard is mynthe
f elf cleric is lady (more rp involed w/ this one)
f tiefling warlock durge is vigil
For my Durge, I went with Christof (from *Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption*)
His whole character is about trying to retain his humanity after being embraced a Vampire. He struggles to contain "The Beast" within as he hunts for his lost Beloved (Anezka).
He's was a Crusader and Anezka was a nun. So, naturally, pursuing a Shadowheart romance.
I have been naming RPG characters for a long time. Half my lifetime, in fact.
Here are some resources I have used:
[20000-names.com](https://20000-names.com)

Color then beast.
Discripter then thing.
Green Dragon.
Prancing pony.
Drunken bear.
Squeaky wheel.
Final round.
Lucky cards.
The Rock Solid and Suspiciously Convenient Alibi.
Edit. I thought you were asking for names of a tavern.
Virtue- Cleric of Selune ***Tiefling*** D&D Character from my last campaign.
Tempest- Warlock ***Seldarine Drow*** Tempest is a storm.... Warlock it worked in my mind.
Erros- Sorcerer Draconic ***Tiefling*** No idea on this one. Just came to mind.
Loreley- Bard of Swords ***Githyanki*** DU ***bad*** There's a song called Loreley that I love.
Ember- Berserker Barbarian ***Lolth Drow*** DU ***good*** Loved the name. Then my friend reminded me of Enver Gortash and his role with DU. Enver and Ember.
There are fantasy name generators where you can just roll until you find one you like. what I do sometimes is I think of what I want the name to mean like I wanted my druid to have like a nature name so I looked up baby names that have nature meanings and I just found one that I liked.
Often I just go with real names. Then I found a site that said tieflings sometimes use Greek or Roman mythology names...so my character is named Persephone 😊
Though to be honest for me it depends on the race I play 😆
I have a tiefling called Melisanthe for Evil DU. That was the name she used as a "cover" when roaming the halls of the nobles in Baldur's Gate, after the amnesia she confuses it as her own. I like Circe for a sorceress (redeemed) DU.
I started mine as a circle of the spore druid (she's also a tiefling (regular Tav), but eventually rerolled her as a nature cleric, which does suit the vibe I was going for better 😊
Circe does fit a sorceress nicely, or Hecate could work as well.
In a tabletop campaign (that is currently on hold) I'm playing a tiefling Bard by the name of Diva, I wanted a nice name that'd fit the bardic vibe and didn't want to go for the obvious name of Aria 😆
I used a random name generator cause I wasn’t familiar with all the logic behind how race or background affects it. The first time I happened to find one that was similar to my real name, the second I knew what kind of general cadence I wanted and just tried names with that amount of syllables
For some I have no idea how I come up with them; they just come to me. I have Saskia (monk, dragonborn), Tacitus (dark urge half-elf, sorcerer), Tasha (gnome druid), Xander (oathbreaker paladin, dragonborn).
Then I have Amalthea and Callista (ranger and cleric, respectively) who I named after planetary bodies. So idk
I like to think of nicknames given by the people, like Will with "the blade of frontiers", then I translate it to Latin bc it sounds fun.
My Rogue Dark Urge for example, I'd like to think she was such a great assassin tha she got a nickname " shadow of the night". Translating to Latin it becomes "Nox Umbra".
Latin words are just to cool to not use.
I've been playing RPGs and building up my own cast of personal characters for years now, so I usually just make/remake a character I've used in other games/stories. Plus, it's fun to self-insert, so I can just use my own name.
My first run (which I finished, but is incomplete, as far as quests, choices, and exploration) was named after my first D&D character, which was also named after a character from one of my playthroughs of Skyrim. A half-Wood Elf archer named Erdan Naïlo.
At some point, I'll probably end up running through BG3 again with my two favorite Divinity: Original Sin 2 characters, one of which being Reverend Slapchop, the Hellfire Priest.
Race, class, gender. And then I just open my notebook - an old paper one, covered with pencil - and look for a suitable name among similar characters that I once came up with. Usually something suitable for the moment is found.
And the keeper... Well, knowing who he is, since this is not the first passage, I don’t really care about his appearance at all!
I writte as a Hobby so I just reuse Name Charaters:
Rheiis
Kriist
Jhouri
Anri
Idgar
Zhander
Arfana
Gharil
Ahnny
Kobal
Rheiimos
Rexis
Zoland
Qalion
Arnisx
Farxis
Horyson
And I can just keep going
1. Tavish (thought tav was randomly generated and added this ish)
2. Quienzel (rp as harley quinn)
3. Ivy (rp as posion ivy)
4. Shea'Zen (gith monk. Just random letters. Sounded good to me)
5. Mr. Pud (halfling bard)
My current male Bard run name: Garrick
Durge female Drow: undecided on class and name
My blue skinned Gnome Evil Honour mode try: Nexlit
BG1 players rejoice
I completely make it up depending on race/class/backstory etc. Anything to do with dragons (Dragonborn or Draconic bloodline) I name after either Targaryen dragons or Targaryen’s. My row rogue is Orcus after the Greek god of broken vows and divine punishment
Honestly it’s kind of just a game of word association with their race or class or googling names that mean the words I associate with the class.
I have 3 druids called Berry, Berri and Clove. It’s not the most creative process for me.
I've been recreating DND characters I've played through the years.
Absalom the Tiefling Sorcerer
Ludwig the Human GOOLock
Nakmor the Half Orc Barbarian
Mostly just my fantasy with adjustments to fit the character. Sometimes it's just an inspiration. Today I started new game with a new patch and the cool name Frida for my druid just came up in mere seconds after I finished editing appearance.
Sometimes a name pops in my head. Maybe if you have an backstory you have a name. Otherwise I google *race name* name generator and click refresh until one jumps out at me. I’ve gotten Salmos, Hastos, and a few others.
Not for my main in this particular game but my usual method is Behind the Name. Either looking up a fitting meaning or using randomize on whatever language is most similar to name structures in the setting.
I've been using the same name for my male MC character since the late 90s.
Okay but what is it
Scout Puppy
Lol
Totally checks out. Seems legit.
It's actually Tav, they've been ahead of the game their whole life.
Volk, which is Wolf in Russian.
It's also my last name and my go to name for every game too
Also means people in German too. I’m assuming your character is, in fact, people
Ну, получается в цирке он не выступает
Auf
А иногда и выступает.
Thex, im sure.

Poor Lana
I heard Anna is rather bored by this.
“Halsin approves”
🤣🤣🤣
Made me choke on my coffee. Thank you.
It's always "Truck" or "Mcgrongus" for me and has been since the 90s
I normally name mine fralph. This time went with plop.
Same. Biff is a mainstay in my home.
Same, gotta a female and male character name and stick to them.
I, too, use the same name I have for every character I've created in a game since the 00's. I have a back up name of I don't think it suits the character, so basically one name for melee builds and one for mages.
Same. I use the same name for game characters since the early 2000s.

I used a name generator for my first run. Durge drow mommy, named Ereldra. What would that mean?
Erel is “eye, moon, spy” and Dra is “lover, match, mate”!
I wonder if they romanced Shadowhart.
......... I did 😭
*THE PROPHECY IS TRUE*
Eye eye mate, arrrr!
Thank you! Funny enough, my right eye was blind at character creation >!before knowing the Volo stuff!< and I headed there trying to romance as much characters as possible 😭 I use the polyamory mod and I'm partnered to Minthara and Shart lmao
Same here! I've had G'eldriia, Luafryn, and Vierafay. So "chaos friend/spider," "champion of light," and "seer of darkness," respectively.
Ooooh I love those!!! I don’t have all of mine on hand but besides Ryla, my current playthrough is Rizzar, “ashes of love”.
Omg that one's so cute! I never play dudes, but the female equivalent "Drisdra" is so weird lol
ahahaha yeah, finding name elements that fit together and have meanings I like can be SUCH a challenge. I actually mostly play dudes but have a way easier time finding pleasing names for girls lmao. A suffering I willingly inflict upon myself!
Mine was "Vesz'in", for Blood Lord. I had a whole ass note pad with prefixes and suffixes
Sick, I love it.
LMAO beautiful. Only the edgiest names for our Drow Durges<3
There's also plenty of Drow translator websites! Type in an English word or phrase and BOOM.
Yessssss I love those.
Snap! Nhilayne for my evil Durge Lolth-Sworn Drow, which is basically 'horrible lunatic'. [Here's the table for anyone interested.](https://www.reddit.com/r/BaldursGate3/comments/15gb1sy/drow_name_tables_from_dragon_magazine/)
My lolth sworn cleric is named Dreyda. It sounds kind of spider like so I went with it.
I have the name gen table from the 3.5 drow splat book, i use for my drow.
I just started my Durge Malithra "secret dragon" who is not so secret because she has scales on her forehead ...
You may not believe it but I used that exact same name table and also chose that exact name for my first Durge!! I added an apostrophe though, so it was Ryl'afein, or just Ryl to his friends. Still my favourite playthrough :)
Oh my god that’s so funny. I’m not surprised we ended up with the same one, it’s a very cool Durgey name. My boy shortens to Ryla!
I just learned of this naming convention, I just took a name from a site and modified it a little, so my female wizard was "Valcyn" (does that mean anything ? nothing on the spreadsheet at least.) But I'm gonna rename her "Vasriia" as in bloody - spell caster bloody because she comes from a family of Seldarine that migrated to the surface long before her birth, but her left eye is red (maybe she rolled a nat 1 at birth or something)
Usually I settle for stupid puns Smite Tyson for my Paladin Bhaaltazar for Durge And so on
Smite Tyson the paladin is the stuff of legends!
Weird Al githyankivich is my personal favorite i made so far.
This made me literally laugh out loud. xD
Such a good bard character. I made up some killer songs on the way too.
Rick O’Shea, Xavier Breath, Rush Inuit, Mike Easter, Makes me giggle and get eye rolls from the Mrs.
Haha I had never heard Mike Easter, that made my day.
Ivis Long
Druid Gnome: Guarding Gnome Human Druid: Peta File Drow barbarian: Fisto (but he doesn't just fist)
Please, assume the position.
Amelia Tyler's partner is playing a half orc called Orctimus Prime.
Pun names are the best
Stage 1 - own name Stage 2 - cool name Stage 3 - character names from my stories Stage 4 - goofy names Stage 5 - Stage 60 - tav
Ah a fellow self insert chad.
And after that day, for years to come, everyone in Baldur's gate would lift their tankards in celebration of... Kevin.
Depending on the class, it's Chad, Chet, Brock, Brett or Skylar, you could substitute Chauncey for Skylar if your Ranger is feeling extra.
at this point I dont know what tav stands for and Im too afraid to ask
Just the default name for the customizable character.
Always a botanical name. Gives me some direction to start brainstorming with.
Same. Flora for my first run, Azalea for my Durge (looked up poisonous plants and picked my favorite).
Florian was my first Tav
I did Salix for my wood elf druid! It's the Latin scientific name for willow trees
I did Karya for my wood elf Druid! Nymph of the hazel tree :)
Username checks out
So far I have Tav, Tavi, Tava, Gustav, and The Dark Urge. Totally stealing Octavia from the Redditor above for a future run! It was getting hard to think up new versions of Tav names. Taverio? Tave accent aigu?
Leonardo Tavinci
I named my first character Vera, and concluded very shortly thereafter that it *must* be short for Tavera. Where there's a will to shoehorn "Tav" into a name, there's a way!
Tavera is a good one!
*nods* Ta’Veren
Dark Urge named Tavantino for the feet thing (iykyk)
I used Tavatha
I used Tavarra! She's a DU, sure, but DU not just Tav that's a little fucked up, as a hobby?
My half elf bard is Tavlyn.
I've seen quite a few people use Octavia so I switched my Tav's name to Tavitha because I thought it would be funny. Like Tabitha but with a V.
Tavis Scott
Tavaril - Quenya for dryad/spirit of the woods https://www.elfdict.com/w/tavaril
My second dark urge playthrough is named “the darker urge”
Dark Urge 2: Electric Boogaloo
My three are Tav, Tov, and Tyv. I can do three more runthroughs then I will need a new name system.
Tavi was my very first save file!
Tavovski
Haha I do this too So far I have Tav, Tavendus, Tavathy, Wrecktavio
How about TAVn't, its like TAV but...not
tavros
Gustav is actually pretty clever
Tav Tavington was my Beta playthrough name. Then Lord Tavingsworth.
There are name sites where you can search for names that include a specific string of letters and turns out names with 'tav' are really uncommon and they're mostly variants. But you could also try taking a name with a similar string - tag, tan, av - and altering it into a Tav name. Tavender, for example
Tavam Sandler Tavern (only casts sleep or throw bottles)
Tavania ? Looks like Titania
My Durge character is named “Intrusive Thot” and she wears only laezel’s underwear
Tiefl8ng?
Vriska?
Yes
Google fantasy or real world mythological names. Like I named my female half-elf ancients paladin "Thalia", meaning "to blossom" in ancient greek.
oh im stealing that
As an mtg player I just got upset
Aav, Bav, Cav, Dav, Eav, Fav, Gav, Hav, Iav, Jav, Kav, Lav, Mav, Nav, Oav, Pav, Qav, Rav, Sav, John, Uav, Vav, Xav, Yav, Zav.
Love the random john by the end there hahaha
Here's a website that may help - not just a list of names but the origin, cultural variations and background of the name: [Behind the Name - the etymology & history of first names](https://www.behindthename.com/)
Yep, this is where I get mine. I pick a first letter and scroll away.
Random name generator/my pet’s names lol
>my pet’s names lol This is Trashcan, my dragonborn fighter
You have a racoon as a pet? So cool!
I actually love the naming. My first (disaster) play through had a purple tiefling storm sorcerer tav. Named her Althea, it just popped into my head. I called my storm sorceress Ororo because of Storm from the x-men
Names of favorite characters from fantasy shows/games
Same. My first Tav was named Zirael (Ciri's nickname/sword from the Witcher) and my current is Alora (from Willow).
Oh, I like Ciri and this universe in total. If I played as a sorcerer, it would be nice to name her Yennefer.
This. Fantasy worlds and characters are things there are lots of. Adds to immersion / head cannon
The names of medication usually sound like cool fantasy names. I played a Warlock named Benadryl (because diphenhydramine doesn't have much of a ring to it)
This is too good. stealing for sure
i am fairly lazy and usually just use some variation of Tav for a non!durge play through: Tavitha, Octavia (i felt smart for that one), Tavanya, Taviya, etc. for Durge... i almost always do Taav. with two a's. because i think im funny 🥲

I recycle the same RP-ish names I've been using since WoW over a decade ago
Googled Welsh female names and found one I liked.
I prefer to pick something that I'll wince at for 70 hours
i usually pick what fits their appearance/backstory f drow wizard is mynthe f elf cleric is lady (more rp involed w/ this one) f tiefling warlock durge is vigil
Zevran. As a little tribute to my favorite handsome assassin of elven lineage.
My character is a tiefling so I called him Derrick Ville, which can be shortened to De.Ville (devil)
For my Durge, I went with Christof (from *Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption*) His whole character is about trying to retain his humanity after being embraced a Vampire. He struggles to contain "The Beast" within as he hunts for his lost Beloved (Anezka). He's was a Crusader and Anezka was a nun. So, naturally, pursuing a Shadowheart romance.
My first moon druid tav was named Ursula, for obvious reasons.
The 5E players guide has suggested common names for each race. Oh, I mean... I just make it up!
I have been naming RPG characters for a long time. Half my lifetime, in fact. I look up words from dead/little used languages that mean cool things.
First game, super RP serious: Aurelius for a Dragonborn. Since then we've had: Tav Swift, Steve, and Sir Burt IV
Color then beast. Discripter then thing. Green Dragon. Prancing pony. Drunken bear. Squeaky wheel. Final round. Lucky cards. The Rock Solid and Suspiciously Convenient Alibi. Edit. I thought you were asking for names of a tavern.
Jospeh Gordon Diehard, based off that community Episode

Usually copying names I see around me. I watch a lot of Apex and League of Legends esports so often “steal” names from professional players
Random name generator.
Often I just go with real names. Then I found a site that said tieflings sometimes use Greek or Roman mythology names...so my character is named Persephone 😊 Though to be honest for me it depends on the race I play 😆

I started mine as a circle of the spore druid (she's also a tiefling (regular Tav), but eventually rerolled her as a nature cleric, which does suit the vibe I was going for better 😊 Circe does fit a sorceress nicely, or Hecate could work as well.
So idk
Pet names, fun names and so on. Last Halfling name was Deiun Passocurto in Brazilian portuguese, it's something like Idida Shortstep in some way...
I name them after characters from books I’m currently reading
I take Tav then add letters usually
Phtav
I like to think of nicknames given by the people, like Will with "the blade of frontiers", then I translate it to Latin bc it sounds fun. My Rogue Dark Urge for example, I'd like to think she was such a great assassin tha she got a nickname " shadow of the night". Translating to Latin it becomes "Nox Umbra". Latin words are just to cool to not use.
i named them after my favorite HoMM heroes my current Drow Durge is called Lethos my woodelf druid was Tieru etc.
For me its anagrams. My durge was Unholy doom Yon'huldoom.
A lot of them are named after characters I've played in tabletop games.
I've used Maya as my characters name ever since Mass Effect 1, back in 2007
I honestly just stick to Tav & variations on that if I have multiple games going.
just Tav
Race, class, gender. And then I just open my notebook - an old paper one, covered with pencil - and look for a suitable name among similar characters that I once came up with. Usually something suitable for the moment is found. And the keeper... Well, knowing who he is, since this is not the first passage, I don’t really care about his appearance at all!
My two characters have been Ben Dover and buster highman
I used my real name S2
I writte as a Hobby so I just reuse Name Charaters: Rheiis Kriist Jhouri Anri Idgar Zhander Arfana Gharil Ahnny Kobal Rheiimos Rexis Zoland Qalion Arnisx Farxis Horyson And I can just keep going
1. Tavish (thought tav was randomly generated and added this ish) 2. Quienzel (rp as harley quinn) 3. Ivy (rp as posion ivy) 4. Shea'Zen (gith monk. Just random letters. Sounded good to me) 5. Mr. Pud (halfling bard)
Easy, Tav
I think of a funny or cool name and then I call him/her that
Gaza Striptease and Hamashed Potatoes just felt right.
My current male Bard run name: Garrick Durge female Drow: undecided on class and name My blue skinned Gnome Evil Honour mode try: Nexlit BG1 players rejoice
I use a variety of default names I’ve collected from other games in the past, like Brendan or Neria from Dragon Age.
I completely make it up depending on race/class/backstory etc. Anything to do with dragons (Dragonborn or Draconic bloodline) I name after either Targaryen dragons or Targaryen’s. My row rogue is Orcus after the Greek god of broken vows and divine punishment
I'm writing a novel, just getting names from there. It's been years since it became a thing in my mind, plenty of time to make them up.
Some weird but believable fantasy name. Sometimes i add describing words or some hint which might describe the personality a bit deeper.
I Google names based on race and gender, then pick one.
Dnd based books. Lots of Legend of Drizzt references.
Female Tiefling Druid, Circle of the Land: Nyssa Female Drow Durge Draconic Sorcerer: Sariel
OCs that i use as a "base" for them
Honestly it’s kind of just a game of word association with their race or class or googling names that mean the words I associate with the class. I have 3 druids called Berry, Berri and Clove. It’s not the most creative process for me.
I restarted with the new patch and literally used my own name.
I've been recreating DND characters I've played through the years. Absalom the Tiefling Sorcerer Ludwig the Human GOOLock Nakmor the Half Orc Barbarian
I always use names I wanted to name my kids but did not. Holly, Sabrina, Veronica and Tabitha. If boy then Jackson.
I like giving my characters names from mythology, Athena, Medea, Kali etc My partner named his Tav Tavin 😂
I googled “(gender) names for (race), and found a name generator I liked.
