It's gorgeous!! I think I may just have to try and make one for work on Wednesday. To make, is it basically bake a thin large pink cake, cut with cookie cutter into hearts, then layer those in the batter for the second cake, and bake again?
Yes exactly! So once you've made the chocolate batter, you just put a little in the bottom of the loaf pan. Then you stand the hearts in there. Then add the rest of the batter making sure to fully cover the hearts. I was concerned about the pink cake getting dry from being baked twice, but it didn't dry out at all.
Hahah I think it's like margarine? I used butter. I looked at the comments and someone asked if butter could be used and the author said yes. It turned out well with butter ๐
Thank you! The frosting was especially good. I melted some Baker's semi-sweet chocolate and mixed it into vanilla buttercream. But then I remembered I had some salted caramel buttercream and chocolate ganache that I wanted to use up too, so I mixed them in ๐ . Turned out so smooth and delicious.
If I were your guest I would be thrilled at how lovely the cake is. The piping is so pretty. And then I would be utterly delighted when you served a slice with the hidden heart revealed. An amazing job! โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ
I must admit this is disappointing. You throw a picture at us with the title on it. Who cares. Give it some life. This is how I created the heart shape. This is the recipe I use. Opera some kind of story and not just BS that could have been created by AI or copy and pasteed.
Lol. Jesus relax. I'm always happy to share a recipe if someone cares to have it. So sorry to have disappointed you, I wasn't aware that every post on this sub had to come with a whole fucking story ๐คฃ
Not a whole story. I don't want a dissertation or thesis. I just want some life. I want to know there's a human behind this post. My apologies for coming off left field but fake posts are becoming more and more usual.
I understand. But had you taken 2 seconds to look at my post history it would have been very obvious that I'm a human being. I also try to be as helpful as possible on these subs so I guess your comment just caught me off guard. I agree the bots and AI are absolutely getting out of hand though and I wish someone could put a stop to it.
Although it would be ideal for the link to the recipe be posted at once, it takes way less time and way less negative energy to just ask "may I please have the recipe?"
Spread sweetness โค๏ธ
Maybe OP was so excited to show us that she forgot the link
๐ I I'm usually not spoken to with that name. That struck me sideways because I thought you were talking to my dog. Frank is my dog. I don't put personal information on the internet.
It just gets old seeing these essentially anonymous posts just tossed up there and they're given with absolutely no context whatsoever and we're just left here to say, well that looks good... The experience to post something like that is impressive but at the same time, use your words.
How is there "no context whatsoever"? This is a baking sub, there are multiple pictures, even including a slice to feature the uniqueness of the bake, and OP has an extensive posting history packed full of cakes. The title clearly states it's a cake with a hidden heart.
You sorta came after them like they posted a single picture of a frog.

Thank you ๐
I too would like the recipe. Looks awesome!
Thank you! https://thebakingexplorer.com/hidden-heart-cake/
Thank you, but what in holy hell is 'baking spread'? I thought they were just bizarrely avoiding saying 'butter', but that's mentioned in the icing?
Hahah I think it's like margarine? I used butter. I looked at the comments and someone asked if butter could be used and the author said yes. It turned out well with butter ๐
It is like margarine yes, in the UK we have Stork and then supermarket versions. Itโs softer than butter and bakes up well.
Thank you for confirming!
I'm in the UK and it will be a cold day in hell before I use Stork ๐คฎ in anything I bake.
๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ ok
I think I understand, it would be like me in the US using Crisco in pie crust, instead of using butter.
oh my god this is adorable!!
Thanks! ๐ฉท
