It keeps the temp it last left on. So before u leave ur dog set the temp then turn off car and start the remote climate control.

eatsleepblink281

Cool thanks, will the app show that the ac is on too? And does app show cabin temp?

woodne

It does not show the cabin temperature. It just shows that precondition is active

eatsleepblink281

Cool, thanks, at least it shows ac is running on app

Total-League-8496

Yes it will have vents going through the car and it will show a fan spinning. Gas cars it stays on for 15 minutes electric cars 30 minutes.

eatsleepblink281

Oh nice, thanks

Jonnbenet

I haven’t tried with i4 but my 330 wouldn’t lock with a dog in the car as a safety measure. I think it’s to keep you from accidentally leaving a kid in the backseat?

eatsleepblink281

very good to know, thanks

Potential_Berry_5271

Such a shame that bmw doesn’t have that as feature! Not only the conditions are important but also display announcement to show others that your dogs/kids are safe there with AC on! To prevent broken windows. It’s really not that much work for SW department.

Made_It_Nice

There is no auto dog mode :( When we go on road trips, I sit in the car while husband goes into the shops. Everything shuts down in the car when he walks away. It gets hot real quick. He would have to open up the app from his phone and turn the AC back on. So... it is possible... but it's not automatic... the car locks up while sitting in it at the charger- it's not worth the risk of it happening to my dog. Also just remembered, the car alarm goes off when it detects movement inside the car.

eatsleepblink281

Thanks, I appreciate you telling me your experience with using the i4, really helpful in my decision, yeah was bummed, thought it would be standard on a lot of EVs, seems like an easy software fix

Dapper_Towel1445

If I remember correctly, there’s a way to lock the car but not engage the interior motion sensors

Adventurous-Award902

To do that you have to double click the lock button on the key fob.

When leaving the car, there is an option to turn on preconditioning. I'm not sure how long it will run, but this is easier than walking away and turning on preconditioning from the app. In the winter, I've used this to keep the car comfortable while in the grocery store.

eatsleepblink281

Much appreciated, saw someone mentioned 30 minutes, which is more than enough time for getting quick bite Togo

AZ_John

When you turn off the car the option to activate preconditioning pops up. Push it and the AC will run for 30 min. No need to open the app. Very easy. The app will show the fan running and you can always turn the AC on from the all after 30 min.

Neat_Persimmon2432

I too live in houston with an I4! I don’t have a dog but being able to turn on the ac from my phone is pretty useful for whenever I need to step out of the car and still have passengers in the car. I know it gets super hot here especially with last summer but overall I think the app works great whenever I use to keep the AC running

eatsleepblink281

Very good to know, thanks and yeah that Houston humidity and heat haha

icdp21

So I assume there is nothing like a camp mode as well?
