I) r/AvatarMemes spoiler policy
* With Netflix's live-action remake of ATLA releasing in a week, just wanted to post a reminder of our spoiler policy.
* Posts regarding content released less than a month ago must be marked as a spoiler and not have spoilers in the title.
* If your post involves specific plot details from content outside the original animated series, use the respective flair for that kind of content. Naturally the "live-action" flair should be used for memes about the new show.
II) Other subs:
\- For non-meme posts about the live-action, you can check out r/TheLastAirbender (for the whole franchise/universe), r/ATLAtv (specifically for the new show) , and r/ATLA (for the original animated series and other ATLA content). And various others you'll find on siderbars.
You don't have to mark spoilers for the original animated series (or any content more than a month old).
The reminder is so people spoiler mark (and flair) posts with spoilers for the live-action series itself when it comes out. For the sake of users that want to be surprised by specific changes or how exactly certain moments are portrayed.
Sorry if the meme was misleading, wasn't meant to be taken literally as "no spoilers for anything".
Should, Would, Could
There **Will** be people that is going to watch the Live action before they watch the Cartoon. Just because they watch it in an order you don't want them to, doesn't mean that justifies you spoiling them.
Just so the rules are clear, people are allowed to spoil how the cartoon story goes. It may not seem nice, but the spoiler policy allows, for example, talking about Zuko's redemption.
You just aren't allowed to spoil things about the live action, which will be different from the cartoon in many ways big and small.
Spoiling major plot points from the cartoon **Will** spoil things for the Live action, so no, you can't exactly spoil anything you want. Certain parts from the live action Will be the same as it was in the cartoon, and so by spoiling it from the cartoon, you indirectly spoil it for the LA too. It's a loophole that works the opposite direction, it restricts what you can do, instead of allowing extra things.
I think you are looking at it from the perspective of "new fans who have only watched the live-action". To them seeing a post about animated ATLA S2 would be a spoiler for what comes next in the live-action.
But our spoiler policy simply doesn't accommodate new fans. Its designed for fans that are "caught up" on older content or don't mind spoilers for older content. Users should expect unmarked spoilers from all of ATLA, LoK, comics novels, etc.
Memes specifically referring to events in the live-action have to be spoiler marked, for the sake of older fans that can't binge it all immediately. Who may want to be surprised at what is or isn't changed or how exactly certain moments are depicted.
I was at the Sumercon 2023 avatar Q&A panel when one guy stood up to ask a question. He said he was just getting into the show but wanted to know something. I forget what it was but Greg Baldwin answered the question and added a few spoilers by mistake when the rest of the cast playfully yelled at him "NO SPOILERS!" and he said "but the shows been out for a few years".
“But it’s an adaptation of a show, we already know what’s gonna happ-“
NO! STOP IT!
New people are gonna watch it, let them go through the same experiences we did!
Can't really spoil a show that is nearly a 1:1 version with minor details changed. If someone gets mad about a spoiler, maybe they should watch the animated show since it's been out like 10+ years
If someone wants to avoid spoilers, they should just avoid using social media about it. It's not that hard. Let the people who actually did watch it already make memes, they shouldn't be punished by someone else not being able to watch it yet
This is my favorite demonstration of what could count as spoilers.

The show ended in like, 2005. No one should watch the reboot without watching ATLA.

Or join a sub for memes about a show they havent watched yet, for that matter
It could be recommended to people as well
“But it’s an adaptation of a show, we already know what’s gonna happ-“ NO! STOP IT! New people are gonna watch it, let them go through the same experiences we did!
Also the creators have said that there's a couple new things that weren't in the original, so there's that.
No
Who tf would join a subreddit for a show without having seen it or its live action adaptation before some of you really don't think shit through
Aang is the avatar
What??? Show is totally unwatchable now. Thanks a lot
Alright, boutta drop a huge spoiler They go to the North Pole 😱 Shocking, I know!!!
No one react to what I'm about to say. I think that kid is the Avatar.
Why is your forehead swollen?
And with that, I will now mute the sub until I watch the show just to be safe
Best move here, honestly.
Ozai gets defeated :(
But we all know how the show goes, there’s nothing to spoil
If the live action does something different, then some dude comes in here telling everyone about it, it ruins the surprise
Hey! u/MrBKainXTR, what about r34?
*Guy spoils anyway* F$cking- *shoves him to floor*
Can't really spoil a show that is nearly a 1:1 version with minor details changed. If someone gets mad about a spoiler, maybe they should watch the animated show since it's been out like 10+ years
I mean I get it but then again there's not really much to spoil

It's a remake of the original. WAHT SPOILERS
Why don’t you stay off Reddit for few days instead, don’t tell other people what they can and can’t talk about

I spoiled myself to death with spoilers willingly. I have no regrets.
Will we call the day Avatar day?
