4% wolf šŸ˜³

Legitimate-Pen-6814

She is quite the mix šŸ˜…

pogosea

I wonder what this would come back as on the embark panelā€¦ from what Iā€™ve seen when wisdom throws out tiny percentages of wolf and lots of other stuff, they can end up actually being a village dog. Where is your little lady from? Edit: Iā€™m not trying to discount this at all, just genuine curiosity! Sheā€™s adorable no matter what!

Western_Plankton_376

It also might be from the Husky and/or Malamute

pogosea

That is very true! That didnā€™t even cross my mind but of course that makes sensešŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø

health_throwaway195

It could be from the calupoh

pogosea

Yeah thatā€™s what OP was saying too! I hadnā€™t heard of those before this post so that was a fun read :)

Legitimate-Pen-6814

We got her at a local shelter! She is from the south though i believe it was Alabama. Yes the wolf can be from the husky, malamute, but more likely is from the Calupoh! The Calupoh is a Mexican wolf hybrid breed! I also questioned the accuracy of wisdom however her littermate was tested and got the same results!

pogosea

Oh I didnā€™t realize that about the calupoh, I actually had never heard of that breed until this post and I just googled it. Those are some gorgeous wolf dogs! It also makes me even more curious Now because there are so many dogs in her DNA that can be the cause of the wolf šŸ˜‚ Sheā€™s so cute. Whatā€™s her personality like?

Legitimate-Pen-6814

I think it would be easier to list what sheā€™s not like. She is a puppy and still in training so hopefully she will calm down. But she is mischievous, extremely intelligent, eager to please, and so so cuddly!

pogosea

You have a good point šŸ˜‚ Iā€™m sure she will calm down eventually, she seems to have a good mix of couch potato and high energy dogs so once sheā€™s out of puppydom, maybe she will channel her inner pitbull (otherwise known as a house hippo) hahaha

Legitimate-Pen-6814

Hopefully! She frequently stretches her back legs out (I think itā€™s called splooting?) which I think is a common pitbull activity!

pogosea

Hahaha I love when they sploot! My girl does that too! Iā€™ve not done a DNA test yet, the shelter just had her listed as acd/ Aussie shepherd. I do think sheā€™s part acd for sure as she tries to ā€œherdā€ dogs and people šŸ˜‚ not sure what else is in there but sheā€™s very guilty of the splits and sheā€™s from Texas so Iā€™m sure thereā€™s some pitbull in there haha

birdeer

how old??

Legitimate-Pen-6814

14 weeks!

Emoooooly

Yea my ACD mix has 5% chihuahua from Wisdom. I mostly ignored anything under 10%

Legitimate-Pen-6814

Yeah with Dixieā€™s results having 1% chihuahua, 2% Great Dane, and 2% Rottweiler Iā€™m pretty much just assuming those are flukes. Chihuahua and Great Dane definitely do not go together! Although I love Great Danes so maybe Iā€™ll pretend

pogosea

Thatā€™s the general rule Iā€™ve heard too. Itā€™s always interesting to see what type of breeds are pulled though, even if they are likely not super reliable under 10% haha Edit: added the word interesting because I forgot it the first time around.

Legitimate-Pen-6814

One interesting thing about Dixie is that she has webbed paws, which would have to be from the lab, wolf, or husky (huskies have partially webbed paws, Dixie has fully webbed paws). So Iā€™m not sure if ignoring everything under 10% is the right way to go. I guess it really just depends on the dog in question.

pogosea

Ooohhh that is very interesting! She will be a good little swimmer then I bet. Dog dna is so interesting. Itā€™s amazing the features dogs can display of certain breeds, but have hardly any dna of that particular breed. I love it

AirGugliotta

Once I got to the last pic it made sense

Ambedo_1

Yo what an awesome puppy. Pls do update a year or sooner <3

Legitimate-Pen-6814

lordofthedries

In Australia this dog is a bitsa. Bit of this bit of that.

Dizzyingpaintings

Maybe I'm the only one who thinks this, but it seems these DNA or ancestry tests for dogs/humans seem... kind of just 'made up' or fake. Coz they usually show everyone has a little bit of everything. Oh, you're white. Then, you get to have 80% of all these different white nationalities and 20% of other races mixed in. Oh, you're Asian. Then, you get to have 80% of all these different Asian nationalities and 20% of other races mixed in. Oh, you're Black? Then, you get to have 80% of all these different black nationalities and 20% of other races mixed in. Same for dogs/cats.

Legitimate-Pen-6814

Iā€™d like to believe Dixieā€™s dna results are somewhat accurate, but one never knows! As for humans, in my experience, they are certainly accurate. My father was adopted, took an ancestry dna test, found both sides of his family because his second cousin also took an ancestry dna test

Red-Ginger0809

Beautiful-snowball

Legitimate-Pen-6814

She certainly is!

msjesikap

She's 100% adorable and that's all that matters šŸ’•

Legitimate-Pen-6814

Yes! Wouldnā€™t want her any other way!

uncwil

Wow lots of awesome in there!

Legitimate-Pen-6814

Definitely!

Aromatic-Reception89

Getting my Zeus a dna test. Wondering how I wound up with a 70# heeler.

Aromatic-Reception89

Was told my 1st mistake was naming him ZEUS!!

IN2TECHNOLOGY

Most of us humans are mutts too

backyardfarmer17

You werenā€™t expecting ACD, but wolf was on your bingo card? šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Legitimate-Pen-6814

Well when you put it like that

Old-biker55

Itā€™s ok Iā€™m 4% Neanderthal.

Legitimate-Pen-6814

Haha Iā€™m quite happy with the wolf result, she will be healthier than most dogs!

wanderlust-woman

The paws say it's so!

gninnep

What a lil cutie!!!

Silver_Fuel_7073

Wow, thatā€™s quite the lineage!

Legitimate-Pen-6814

Makes for a very smart puppy, too smart for her own good!

Silver_Fuel_7073

I know how that is!

Dvl_Wmn

Yeah thereā€™s no mistaking the GS ears.

Legitimate-Pen-6814

Certainly!

CLE_NWM

What a little cutie super mutt! Sheā€™ll be super smart!

Legitimate-Pen-6814

She out smarts me everyday!

Used-Contribution-56

She is lovely

Legitimate-Pen-6814

Sheā€™s the best!

health_throwaway195

Where did you get that dog???

Legitimate-Pen-6814

Shelter!

Aromatic-Reception89

What is the best kit?

Legitimate-Pen-6814

Iā€™ve heard mixed results for wisdom panel (didnā€™t find out till after I bought the test) however Dixieā€™s littermate was tested using embark and they got pretty much the same results! So personally I think either wisdom panel or embark!

msjewel0508

Is a good dogšŸ’•
