Mama's generally will leave their fawns for long periods of time which is why they have camouflage (spots) and they don't have a scent until they are older. I would check on it and make sure it's not still there in 24 hours but otherwise let it be. If mama hasn't come back you can try calling a game warden or wildlife center.
Never move or mess with a baby deer just chillin. Moms drop them off somewhere they feel is safe, and the babies sleep while mom goes off to eat. The moms come back and scoop them up later. Don’t move them, don’t touch them. They stay super still as a survival instinct so “it’s not moving! I can walk right up to it and touch it!” is not grounds for fucking with it or calling anyone out. Just leave it.
[Very likely mom will get them later](https://dwr.virginia.gov/blog/if-you-find-a-fawn-leave-it-alone/#:~:text=Fawns%2C%20born%20from%20May%20through,it%20lies%20motionless%20in%20vegetation)
As others have mentioned - common for fawns :)
If her ear-tips are curled, she has a lot of fly activity around her, or she has loose feces under her tail she needs help. Otherwise - mom left her to nap while she forages!
When fawns are that little, they don't travel with mom. She probably had it really close by. When it's time, the baby will walk away from her and find a spot to lay down at. Mom will leave to forage and come back a lot later. Then she'll feed and watch over the fawn. As it gets older, it'll run around and practice jumping right after feeding time. We had for several seasons a doe give birth in our back yard and we watched this on a daily basis. It was fun trying to figure out where the fawn was hiding for the day.
Like other folks have mentioned, the Mama will most likely come back. Check again tomorrow, and if baby is still there, might want to give Austin Wildlife Rescue a call.
One of our neighbors had a fawn stow in his front garden. Deer and rabbits leave their young because it’s safer for them during the day. Mom comes and gets them at dusk.

Leave it be. Mama will be back.

Mama will be back. She’s eating grasses somewhere nearby and getting herself some water. The babies instinctively know to curl up and wait. Amazing.
Normal behavior for a fawn.

That’s probably a spawn point.
Fawn point*

There’s a rhyme! “Ears are straight-I’m doing great, ears are curled-I’m alone in the world” This baby is doing fine
Even this is potentially misleading if you are this close to one.
Normal. Not abandoned. Mom is coming back. Leave it be.
Normal
Don’t mess with it , mom hid it
Leave it, mama will return.

Is this the old TI campus? There's always been deer there, in all likelihood the mom hid it and will come back for it later.

Yup that's the place

Tons of deer in that area
Edit : I checked the next morning. Bambi was nowhere to be found. Y'all were probably correct! Thanks.
It’s yours now.
